No, you aren't missing anything. I would like to be clear though that he has problems with being LEGALLY married, but not opposed to being completely committed to someone. Which I don't really have a problem with. I believe this comes from his belief that if people get divorced, the woman ends up much better off than the man. do you suggest I tell him that I expect the ultimate commitment from him, or we cant continue our relationship?

I told him that I am not ready for marriage and kids right now, because he was worried that was something that I wanted. Which I told him that I do want to be married one day, but I want to at least finish school first.

I do want to be married one day. I have told him in the past that I would want to be married and particularly to him, but he has replied that he will never be married, and has learned marriage is not beneficial to men at all. thank you for the thoughtful reply, I do mean that I want to know that he wants to be with me.
