Yeah if you can't stand by your comment history then you shouldn't bother commenting. It's all up for grabs. Why, is there something in your post history you're worried about? The above dude "joked" about being alt-right and said heil hitler. If I really openly say racist stuff and hide behind "its a joke!" every time, I'm pretty sure you're still a racist.

Is it a joke because you said a nazi thing afterwards? Weird...

Thanks, I ended up understanding what he was trying to say in that I was giving a legal opinion where one wasn't asked for: but I do stand by my statements in that the way he first countered was thin in actual rebuttal and kind of just fallacious. Anywho, thanks for the username compliment! I thought it was kinda clever :)

Well, listen, I appreciate you taking the time to explain your position and not being mean or insulting doing it. On your point about the legality of it: you are absolutely correct. I didn't mean to say it to detract, I was inserting my opinion about the legality of it. You're correct in saying that the legality of it has nothing to do with your statement, and it was unnecessary for me to add my thoughts on the how it might look in a court of law. I apologize for not understanding, I just want i…

But I'm not arguing about how to argue properly? My statement was formed from my experiences and views, and more often than not I look at things from a legal standpoint. Is it fucked up for a 200+ pound kid to slam a small crazy chick? Yes. Is it assault? Most likely not, since she initiated it and he reacted in defense. Would a jury be sympathetic? More likely no. Are these just my opinions formed from experience? Yes. So. I fail to see where I'm telling anyone how to argue. I was talking about…

"You have no expertise in this area" = "Arguing from Ignorance". You've made a statement and then affirmed your own conclusion. We all get that there are a lot of internet lawyers and doctors, however I've never said I was a lawyer. I have some experience with the law from working in law firms for years and because I am currently attending law school. In this instance I could do what you did, assume that you did not go to school and say that "you have no expertise in this area and therefore cann…

Well that's one way to look at it. If you don't want anyone to ever argue I'm not sure much would ever be resolved. And if you don't like people pointing out logical fallacies in arguments, then it kind of makes for a slow moving debate when you can just declare anything your opponent says as "nonsensical", and the person is not allowed to respond or refute it because it..."is arguing about how to argue"... I'm just saying, I understand not everyone likes to argue, but you can't tell people on a…

Well firstly, by your logic any time anyone uses an example it is "imaginary and nonsensical", that doesn't bode well for the English language. Secondly, "you are reading what you want", "you people can't seem to comprehend", "you're just replying with imaginary scenarios and other nonsense" are all just forms of ad-hominem. So you're not really adding anything to your argument.

I'm afraid that's not how the justice system works. The moment you incite the opportunity, whether the other finishes it or not, he/she is acting in self-defense. Whether it begins with a jab or a body throw, the person who initiates physical unwanted contact is at fault, in most cases. Let me give you an example: You're in a bar with some friends. A drunk guy keeps yelling at you and calling you a pussy and tells you he slept with your significant other and whatever litany of idiot remarks he c…
