Yes, I think Male circumsision and female genital mutilation are both barbaric practices, but in the case of FGM, its is 1000x more abusive, traumatic, and deadly than Male circumcision. And when questioning these cultures about why its allowed to continue, the elder woman are found to be the biggest advocates of its continued practice. It reminds me of Stockholm syndrome

It's actually a cultural practice of a certain geographical region of the world populated by both Christian and Muslim peoples, not specifically a Muslim tradition.
