I get what you're saying about owning the business and the profits. Yes, OF creators own their content and the money it makes. But, in today's digital world things can be more mixed. Freelancers, for example, might not own a company, but they do own their work, like writings or designs. So, while they earn from their work, they also have some ownership over it. The lines between working and owning aren't as clear as they used to be because of how the digital world works.

The more I learned how rigid that ideology is the more I understood why it's flawed. Capitalism has changed a lot in recent decades. If we want to be accurate we wouldn't use a dated ideology in the digital economy that has introduced new hybrid roles. This is why most people don't bring up marxism at all and use the dictionary terms. The digital space I described can be both roles because they can be mutually inclusive unlike a traditional worker. You can disagree but that doesn't make them the same.

I can see why you would think it's relevant but it doesn't align neatly with the modern economy that has evolved to create hybrid roles which is why it's better to use the dictionary terms. In the digital space, a creator can own their content and also put in the labor to produce it. This is why I mean by the term sex worker that can be both roles in today's digital age. After more thought, I think it's more than semantics. There are social dynamics in the modern day gig economy where the owner can clarify what kind of work they are in and that's where sex workers came from and why it's used in that way. I think it's much broader than using your definition of a worker.

This is so intriguing. So if someone does everything from direction, lighting, marketing, performing, etc. they are none of that because they are the owner?
