I would be interested in the Red Pill if they just studied evolutionary psychology and the psychology of romantic and sexual relationships... Yes, this is the trap. Even if the sex/romance aspects are true - there's a lot to question about them but even if true, they simply do not lead to the grander, usually political, conclusions of TRP. It's the later that's what TRP is about. The other stuff is there to draw people in and then to separate them from other people by putting them in a situation…

I do not think I'm entitled to anything... Then stop there! There are lots of points in your post worthy of further discussion if you want, but that's what shouts at me. TRP would even agree on the Just World Fallacy (albeit apply it differently). This shit doesn't make sense. The range of control is particularly circumspect. The systemic logic is at best a crutch that demands a piece of your soul, at worst a lie, and in either case denial over the truth that's much more scary. It is a brutal le…

No, but don't expect a medal for it either. Imagine if, after you noted your low self-esteem, you though, "oh well, low self-esteem," and didn't change anything. It's similar. You've recognized a flaw. You're not a worse person for noting it, and you're a better person from someone in denial about it, but there's a very large performance gap between you and the person who says "and I should try to fix that." TRP is the center of a venn diagram where misogyny is only one of the other circles, eve…

Oh, I definitely think that Blue Pill suffers from the just world fallacy. I just happen to think that Red Pill is just as fable-oriented. You could even put it to competing senses of justice, but I think that's a bit too obfuscating.

Because I don't see the plethora of examples in my populated urban environment. I'm sure it's happened. But when I try to look at pairings around me where I have some (admittedly imperfect) knowledge of the sexual and romantic history of both of the parties, I just don't see it. It's just not a universal narrative. Even the situations I think are close I have to cut and twist to shove into place and seem awkward fits. If we lower the bar all the way to "has had sex with a more attractive person …

Could you please cite what where you're finding them? I have the book right here, and I'm not seeing what you're talking about. What I see is more like: If the emotion behind your words is unconfident and self serving, then she will become turned off no matter what you say, even if you're telling her the most vulnerable and heartfelt story. If the emotion behind your words is genuine and vulnerable, then it will turn her on, even if you're talking about your grocery list or how you named your do…

I think that's something of a misunderstanding of his point. "Models" is focused on authenticity, on staking out clear values and expressing them, which naturally includes a certain degree of vulnerability. That potentially includes what we tend to mean when we use a phrase like "open up emotionally," but it isn't a given, and he includes anecdote where it's clearly not the right thing. It's not just spill your emotions to attract people, it's that honest intent and audacity is attractive. I sus…

Any facial hair is a fashion accessory. One that grows from your face, but a fashion accessory nevertheless. It probably comes out in net because the large group of people not attracted to it is counterbalanced by the smaller group very attracted to it. If you tend to spend time and live your life primarily around the cluster of the people who are, you're going to come out very much so ahead.

Did you miss the one two Thursdays back? The Gerousia decided that it's only non-consensual if she can trick you into saying Rohypnol three times backwards. Just be careful of Welsh chicks - you might accidentally rape her just trying to say the name of her hometown.

Ah, you see, I am a dog, and know only to fawn on those helpful to me and to bark at the unhelpful, and to bite at a thief.

Funny, my critique would be much the same as yours. And no, sometimes they shouldn't. The comfort or discomfort of an assertion is independent of its veracity; otherwise it's just the Galileo gambit. There are fights that are not worth it to fight. There is disagreement, and there is not even wrong. Your analogy is a tool, not a lesson. Take care how you use it.

I can't think of another subreddit that goes from "well, that's an interesting position I'd like to discuss further" to "what the actual fuck did you...just...sorry, I have to go, I just can't" faster than TRP.

Besides approaching, because apparently that goes against the primal order of things.... Aspire to your higher nature as a human, ditch the evo psych, and approach. More accurately, you're going to get a lot of response just from breaking the barrier, just from that initial unanticipated "Hi!" to start off conversation, in ways that guys wouldn't. Use that to your advantage and choose.

When the Greek letters start coming out, I start to feel that there's a lot of PUA that's more interested in hierarchy among men and what men think of you than it is about game or whatever, and it's a part that just isn't viable.

As, admittedly, something of an outsider to PUA, one of its great strengths is the ability to take a sort of general concept of human interaction (like "flirting") and break it down into its component parts (like negging). Guys like turning something into discrete elements. They're easier to get your head around. It turns everything into Lego, and it makes it much easier for having a sort of SOP both to fall back to and to riff off of. There's also something of a rhetorical value to expressing t…

Do you know who's a rude and unfriendly person? A kind and friendly person who's having a bad day. There's something to be said for assuming good intent. Assume that most people are friendly and want to talk to you, at least deep down. There's a lot of friction that gets in the way of that - people thinking that you have an ulterior motive, situational issues (if the librarian was trying to get work X done, and you're the 13th person to ask her a question, she's going to get testy), what's going…

I feel you have extended the analogy too far by half.
