No the OP was referring to a club, the major is not only for females, or maybe it was a scholarship, but regardless they were not stopping men from being engineering majors, that would be absurd.

It’s not discriminating to provide a space for women to come together and share their love for stem though... Men already have all of the opportunities to go into these fields.

Women were not allowed to study or participate in stem fields for a very long time, and the patriarchal system of superiority is still evident today. I have an older sister who worked with the navy as an engineer in the weapons analysis department. She experienced nothing but discrimination and prejudice in that job and got out as fast as she could. It simply is not an environment that opens its arms to women.

The reason that there are more men in STEM fields is NOT because men are better at it or women don’t want the jobs, it’s the historical system of discrimination and precedence that it’s a “mans” job, which makes no sense because women and men are both absolutely capable of these kinds of jobs

The only reason they need to have a scholarship like this is because it's so difficult for women to be appreciated and have the same type of opportunities as men in STEM fields. I'm sure you can see the lack of representation by women in technical fields of study, and this is only attempting to make that gap smaller.
