It works! But I totally get not wanting to wear them at first, it is a pain to get used to. I feel like you can get away with waaaay more casual outfits as well when you do wear heels - they add something to every look!

I wear heels everyday, they usually make me feel pretty and dainty on days when I’m not feeling that way anyway ! :)

Oh man. Thank you for your perspective. I do make an effort to show appreciation but admittedly I should do it more often, and be more complimentary towards him. He is so wonderful and I need to make it more clear to him - and definitely work on my nagging! Thank you for sharing your experience, I hope we can all grow from this!

Thank you for your reply - you’re right, I was putting off doing the necessary to fix the situation by hoping. I think it is both - I definitely feel like I am poking the bear (amazing analogy) but I also feel like the way he reacts is excessive (telling me to leave) but I am also very sensitive so perhaps I am wrong. Thank you. I completely agree. I need to accept this if i want us to stay together and do my best to avoid poking the bear and not escalate the argument to the point where he react…

Thank you for your comment - you’re right. I am literally available 24/7 unless I’m travelling. I have few friends as I am extremely shy and reluctant to get myself out there. This needs to change as I can feel myself relying on him for happiness/validation when it’s not fair on him, I should be providing these for myself and he should complement that. I actually wanted to join a ballet class - I put it off. I’m going to join this Monday :) The arguments are about how I feel unappreciated/badly …

You’re absolutely right, I need to work on myself. I have high expectations and I can have a poor tone of voice, these are things I’m actively working on but will continue to do so! Thank you - I will also add these books to my reading list! He is an incredible man, I had never thought of it that way as how men react differently - I will 100% bare this in mind in future. I am less surprised by his reactions now that I have been able to see it this way! Thank you so much for your comment :)

Thank you for your reply! It depends, some of them have been about the way he talks to me, sometimes re affection/time/effort. We never argue about stuff like dishes because I pretty much took on the ‘housewife’ role when I moved in and accepted that he wouldn’t do much around the house (I honestly prefer it that way, and also consider it a thank you to him as he provides for me in many ways). A lot of them stem from the fact that when we got together, as it was so dramatic it also seemed intens…

Thank you for your reply. My main query re this topic was what the sexual strategy of men is when it comes to a LTR, as IMO they would surely want the best woman they can get - whether it be looks/intelligence/whatever they value. But I totally agree that a woman’s status doesn’t matter, I guess especially when it comes to the ‘pre settling down phase’ for a man (if they ever do decide to marry/have children that is)

If a woman’s strategy is hypergamy, what does a man look for? Are men generally not looking for the best woman they can be with in the case they wish to form an LTR/have children and marry etc? Thanks in advance

It’s a really good read, especially for a ‘nice woman’ on a mission ! Oh amazing, apologies I didn’t realise it was your blog. Will keep up to date with it as enjoyed the post 😌

Have you read Why Men Love Bitches ? There are similar aspects to this post, in a sense I agree that a GF/wife shouldn’t be a doormat - but more generally, there is great pleasure to be found in ‘serving’ your man: so long as you do it for both of your happiness and not to simply be accepted and validated by him. Agree to an extent 😉

I watched a video about this on YouTube (so not bible but thought it was a good indicator), apparently it’s because women do not want to be seen engaging with an ugly man as a potential alpha may see the interaction and decide she is not worthy of his time as she is being seen talking to someone of much lower value (attractiveness wise).

Since I went to uni I lived by the motto ‘dress for the job you want, not the job you have’ (was an aspiring lawyer but working as a barmaid). It doesn’t have to be related to your career, but the mindset definitely helps to make smarter, flattering choices whenever you go out ! I would listen to top comment especially (music helps) and just try different styles of dresses to see how you feel comfortable. Sometimes I wear very floral feminine dresses and pair them with converse to change things …

Hi ! I’m relatively new here too but I’ve always wanted to look my best, so hopefully am qualified to give you some pointers ! It sounds like you are taking great steps to get yourself out there, and congrats on the weight loss and working through your depression. How do you feel about make up? I love make up and wear it most days; I like to try out different styles. If you want to look like you’ve made an effort without having to do too much I would recommend: BB cream, a little under eye conce…
