I can see your perspective and I reiterate that I 100% advocate for improving yourself as much as you can. When you say that you being yourself is being anxious, I don't see it that way, your anxiety is not something defines who you are, it's something that stops you from being who you are all the time. You say you're able to improve on a negative trait - this is precisely my point haha we should be seeing our negative traits and try to improve on them as then the true best version of yourself w…

Did you read my comment? I said use be yourself as a goal as in strive to build your confidence to a level where you are proud of yourself and who you are so you can always rely on yourself in any situation, you are not your anxieties - they are what's holding the true you back. It's a process of introspection and becoming the best version of yourself. The road is long and not easy but it's necessary. I'm getting kind of sick of these replies just going off on tangents because they're not trying…

Well the way I see it, we are not our insecurities and doubts, so being yourself isn't anything to do with just doing nothing and hoping it will be okay. It's to do with figuring out our anxieties that hold us back and how to deal with them, unlearning habits that are harmful, changing our ill-conceived perspectives etc. Mindful meditation has worked well for me in this regard, I've had woefully poor confidence my whole life that I've only been properly working through the last few years so I'm …

Lmao I never said you're perfect the way you are. Fucking hell, way to miss the point by a mile. If you want to just sit and feel sorry for yourself go ahead but I've had horrible self confidence my entire life and only in the last few years have I been able to get out of it and I'm still not yet where I want to be. Only when I took it into my own hands was I able to beginning working through my issues and anxieties.

This is a self esteem issue, we all have our own things to offer even if you can't see it right now.

Where have I said its easy? It's a process of building yourself up that takes time and consistent effort. Seems like people here just want a quick fix and don't like hearing that you need to actually put in a lot of effort all the time to achieve the things you want.

The problem I have with this situation is this guy hasn't stopped being needy he's just pretending not to be, which is good if he's able to learn a lesson from it but if he doesn't figure out how not to feel needy/figure out what is making him feel that way (which is usually self-esteem/confidence issues) he'll not be able to forge a lasting relationship with the girl he'll either push her away and deeply regret it or they'll get in a situation where they constantly play push and pull games inst…

To me push and pull shouldn't be literally deciding not to show interest and then showing interest back and forth, at its essence it's genuinely living a full life that this other person will want to join in and when you do that you'll naturally have times that you can't talk to them, hence pull, instead of faking it. It'll be much easier to build genuine relationships this way. That's what's attractive to women - someone who is completely themselves and lives life on their own terms and doesn't…

Just be yourself is great advice, if you think of it more like an end goal. Genuinely living your life and making friends/having hobbies/keeping active/meditation etc helps build confidence in yourself and work through anxieties you have to allow you to be yourself without all your doubts or self esteem issues dictating your life, making things like this a much more natural experience.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
