40% is a high estimate. Most studies estimate around 2-10%. And total number of accusations is not so large either. I sincerely think this fear could be better utilized elsewhere.

Which countries are normal to you? I think Japanese women could benefit from more feminist presence… u/Mashiki they are misunderstanding the movement of feminism for the rash acts of a few outlier cases. Which in my opinion is unfortunate. u/Mashiki they are misunderstanding it, or they do not even know what feminism is. I would know because I used to be one of the young women there who didn’t want feminism. Because they don’t know what it is, and the ones who do have exposure to it only know it…

Oh dear. Antifeminists here also claim “I’m not misogynistic, I just hate feminists!!” u/AppropriateNet8777 I’m not conflating anything. u/Grendel admits he thinks most women are feminists. Seeing the popularity of his comment, it seems like a good amount of r/MensRights members agree. r/MensRights is the one that’s conflating women with feminists.

You are saying that once the work culture is reformed, there won’t be a sexual harassment issue?
/r/MensRights24/06/22 11:17 PM

Please read again, I think you misread. In this particular case, maybe men do not get reimbursed for transporting their partner, but that isn’t sexism toward men, it is just that the insurance policy is for the pregnant employee, not the partner of the pregnant employee.
/r/MensRights24/06/22 11:15 PM

Yes. No. If you’re sexually frustrated you can do it yourself or hire someone etc. If you’re emotionally frustrated why would you sexually harass someone? I’m seriously asking because your statement did not logically make sense.

How is it sexist to men to not declare medical tourism reimbursable? Both men and women do medical tourism.

Stop patronizing me please. And I’m not a child by definition. adulthood, the period in the human lifespan in which full physical and intellectual maturity have been attained. Adulthood is commonly thought of as beginning at age 20 or 21 years. (britannica) u/40moreyears you could maybe give a constructive argument rather than calling me ignorant.

Why are you ranting about work culture? I know it is a problem. It has nothing to do with gender equality. And how does destroyed mental health lead to sexual harassment?
/r/MensRights24/06/22 10:44 PM

I’m 20. But you can’t invalidate peoples’ experiences just because they’re younger than you. What makes your 6 months anecdote more valid? Did you spend your childhood there as a young girl? Maybe as a MRA you are blind to cultural misogyny?

Is this a collection of translated quotes? If so the translation is atrocious. I’m having a hard time reading. Can you link to the original article(s)? And Japan is horrible in terms of gender equality. Cannot count the number of times I’ve been groped on public transport there. Conformity culture isn’t something to envy. u/CJ421 lots of things are cultural but illegal, for example drinking as a minor in many countries. Yes, that’s true, and I agree that fathers shouldn’t be forced to raise children they didn’t agree to have, but in reality many fathers don’t get punished for evading child support and neglecting the child. But if we truly wanted to get rid of fathers’ obligation to child support, we also need a social safety net strong enough to support single parents, which we lack.

Paper abortion is not forced parenthood. It is abandonment. With an abortion, there is no child to be abandoned. u/No-Satisfaction-2320 no, it’s much more cruel to give a child a miserable life than to remove it from existence before it’s born. u/No-Satisfaction-2320 Yes, I’m banned. DM is OK.

Most false accusations do not result in jail time. The consequence of a false accusation is usually a trial and potentially a social label. And even if it ruins your life, it doesn’t make sense to be so fearful of something extremely unlikely to occur. I do not constantly obsess over getting struck by lightning, for example.

Toxic femininity consists of traits that negatively affect women or society as a whole that arise from women conforming to stereotypical female expectations. u/diamondDizzle123 I’m explaining the common accepting definition of toxic femininity. How am I “misandrist?”
/r/MensRights24/06/22 09:10 AM

I’m not blaming men. Treating women as children is a component of the patriarchy. What makes you think feminism does the things you listed?

What did I not accept? The links explain possible factors contributing to the wage gap, and acknowledge that the unadjusted wage gap still exists.
/r/MensRights24/06/22 08:50 AM
-2

Even if 40% of allegations were false, that is a small number. A man is more likely to be assaulted than to be accused. Why are you so afraid of it? You can try to reform the system around false accusations, but there is no reason to instill fear of them.
/r/MensRights24/06/22 08:46 AM
0

Yes. Please check the thread next time to avoid redundancy. Also, that is an incorrect use of the term “toxic femininity.”
/r/MensRights24/06/22 08:31 AM
1

I did receive the links, and they did not debunk the unadjusted wage gap, which is what you should be considering if splitting the bill with your partner. More specifically, you should be considering the wage gap between you and your partner, and accommodating for factors that contribute to it.
/r/MensRights24/06/22 08:26 AM
3

The particular aggressive action taken while helping is not negatively impacting men nor society, so it is not toxic masculinity. What source has been provided that demonstrates false accusations being as prevalent as you claim?
/r/MensRights24/06/22 08:07 AM
5

Oh… thanks. Sorry, I misunderstood your intention.
/r/MensRights24/06/22 07:58 AM

Women are not a homogeneous entity. So likely, women who complain about being approached by creeps are not the same women who complain about men not approaching them. Likewise for housework. If you expect women to split the bill evenly, then you should consider the unadjusted wage gap, which is still significant.
/r/MensRights24/06/22 07:57 AM

The definition of “toxic masculinity” is not the set of “toxic male traits.” Confronting a criminal is not “toxic masculinity.” Toxic masculinity: a set of attitudes and ways of behaving stereotypically associated with or expected of men, regarded as having a negative impact on men and on society as a whole. (definition from Oxford Languages) False accusations are already very uncommon, and they are charged as real crimes. Ummm… I was talking about helping a male victim, not a female victim.
/r/MensRights24/06/22 07:51 AM
7

Oh… sorry. But if that is your answer, I don’t understand why you replied to me in the first place?
/r/MensRights24/06/22 07:31 AM

Ummm… that is what I wrote?
/r/MensRights24/06/22 07:22 AM

Of course you can look out for yourself first and assess whether or not it is too dangerous to help. But u/INTERNETCHECKS is telling me they don’t want to anonymously report to the police. What danger do they face from anonymously reporting?
/r/MensRights24/06/22 07:15 AM
2

And I am against that? It stems from society treating women as children.
/r/MensRights24/06/22 07:08 AM
4

To clarify, I do not mean people should run in to intervene if there is potential danger to themselves. If that is the case, I think reporting the situation anonymously is a reasonable way to help.
/r/MensRights24/06/22 06:48 AM
3

And I don’t represent Hollywood nor condone normalizing women slapping men? What are you trying to say?
/r/MensRights24/06/22 06:35 AM
0

It is not “toxic masculinity” to help people in need of help. Obviously the false accusation you linked was horrible, but I think it is very very unlikely to happen. And I don’t understand why you claim that promoting independence in women would cause people to not help a male victim of abuse. Why do you think anything you do is wrong?
/r/MensRights24/06/22 06:33 AM
1

Yes, I wish this whole way of thinking about sex as the ultimate objective would go away. I mentioned incels because they epitomize this way of thinking, not because they are the only ones.
/r/MensRights24/06/22 05:52 AM
-4

I’m not forcing you to do it. I just feel it is so cold to watch people suffer and ignore them.
/r/MensRights24/06/22 05:50 AM
-4

I’m not asking you to put yourself at risk. Which is why I suggested reporting the incident anonymously. If there is no way to help except by putting yourself in danger, then you are free to choose whether or not to help. I said “her” in response to u/INTERNETCHECKS’s comment, where a woman was being beaten. This does not mean I am expecting men to help women.
/r/MensRights24/06/22 05:48 AM
6

Yes, ideally. The gender of the abuser, victim, and bystander should not prevent the bystander from helping.
/r/MensRights24/06/22 05:43 AM
-5

(The video depicts women abusing men in public, showing that others will not step in to help.) I think they should help in that situation also. The gender of the abuser should not be taken into consideration. Why are people not helping when the abuser is a woman? First, often people don’t help when the abuser is a man either. Second, I think it is because of society treating women as children.
/r/MensRights24/06/22 05:40 AM
-26

Sorry, I disagree. I think this is a different situation than “making a woman feel safe while walking down the street.” I think, regardless of your gender, if you see something like that occurring, it is morally wrong to not do anything. For example, an anonymous report to the police might save her life without you putting yourself in danger. In some places, Good Samaritan Laws are in place so that bystanders are legally obligated to help.
/r/MensRights24/06/22 03:56 AM
1

Sorry, thanks for explaining. I’m asking questions because I don’t know much about law. I think the punishment you describe is reasonable. I’m wondering when the legal system should determine if the rape suspect is “proven innocent” and that the allegation is proven malicious under your suggestion.
/r/MensRights23/06/22 08:07 PM
-9

I think a lot of people who promote this sort of thing are incels pretending to be teenagers. And then some teenagers start believing what the incels are saying because of the prevalence of incel posts on the internet. I wish the incels would stop perpetuating the toxic belief that men want sex all the time.
/r/MensRights23/06/22 08:05 PM

u/Epipha-tree suggested making rape accusations confidential. Do you think this solves the issue? If so, how can it be implemented?

/r/MensRights23/06/22 09:11 AM

If men are holding most of the positions of power, how is it not a patriarchy by definition? “”a system of society or government in which men hold the power and women are largely excluded from it.””
/r/MensRights23/06/22 08:27 AM
-4

It is the patriarchy’s fault, not men’s fault. Patriarchy develops internalized misogyny in women. Because of internalized misogyny, women are less likely to run for office and women don’t vote for women.
/r/MensRights23/06/22 08:22 AM
1

Oh I misunderstood your comment. I thought you said “Obviously not. Any “not guilty” verdict means that she lied.”
/r/MensRights23/06/22 08:19 AM
-3

Yes, it seems to me that there is discrimination preventing women from holding positions of power despite their abilities being comparable to men’s. Why is it that even with women more educated than men, and with more female voters, the candidates for positions of power are mostly men?
/r/MensRights23/06/22 08:17 AM
1

It makes the claim that women are powerless without male sex drive, implying that women are in power, and that their power comes solely from selling sex. It talks about denying sex and raising the price of sex as a way women manipulate men. More misogyny can be found in the comment section.
/r/MensRights23/06/22 08:13 AM
1

Yes, I am probably biased. Thanks for your concern. I’m trying to distinguish between not guilty and innocent. Because a true rapist can be not guilty due to insufficient evidence. This does not mean the true rapist is innocent. The reason why I mainly comment here is personal. I don’t stop answering when “shown sources?” If I haven’t replied it can mean I haven’t finished reading the sources, I haven’t written up a thoughtful reply, I didn’t have anything to say about the sources, etc. Please d…

Not guilty does not mean innocent. It only means there was not enough evidence to prove guilt. I would be in support of reparations if it required proof of innocence.

Thanks, I didn’t know about these. For the second one, I think it is reasonable though. Feminists don’t deny there are ways in which men could be disadvantaged. Disadvantages for men are often caused by the patriarchy and by fighting the patriarchy the disadvantages are also accounted for. If there are disadvantages not related to the patriarchy are not the focus of feminism but feminists do not prevent others from spreading awareness of these issues. I’m not spouting misandry though? If you find any misandry please let me know or report it, I’ll remove/edit it for you. I’m not replying to comments for various reasons that are not because I have nothing to back my claims. Most likely I missed the comment.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 10:38 PM

Please explain why you think we don’t live in a patriarchy.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 10:33 PM
-110

I’m not sure… at least within an established group of MRAs, the posts serve as propaganda reinforcing the established beliefs of MRAs. I have not seen anything from @thetinmen that isn’t mentioned in RBOMI or reiterated in r/MensRights. Maybe it feels good to you to have your opinions validated by colorful graphics, but no gain of information is actually occurring.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 10:33 PM

What is the Duluth model? Why is it so commonly referenced in MRA arguments?
/r/MensRights21/06/22 09:45 PM

Feminism is not about hating men. His friend may have identified as feminist but her actions are misandry. Misandry and feminism has no causal relationship.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 09:39 PM
-2

If you think my posts are stupid, please explain why. I can’t learn anything from being called stupid.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 08:45 PM
-2

Unfortunately yes, that sometimes occurs.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 08:41 PM
-4

Misandry is not my way of achieving equality! That is a mischaracterization of feminism.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 05:29 PM

Yes actually. The custody gap is not as big as MRAs claim.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 05:21 PM

/r/MensRights21/06/22 05:10 PM

You can find a list of male privileges from an online search, for example: wiki preventconnect org/male-privilege-checklist/ I would say the privileges you argue are privileges are benevolent sexism, not privileges. I believe what I’m saying of course. Different people have different opinions…
/r/MensRights21/06/22 05:03 PM
-1

I would disagree that affirmative action is “bigoted” toward men. It is more like a counterweight against hiring bias for men. Without it, companies are likely to go through the hiring process by first looking through all male applicants and hiring anyone qualified, then considering female applicants. In addition, affirmative action is meant to counterbalance barriers women face that men do not face. This is another case where if we lived in an unbiased equal reality, I would agree with you, but…
/r/MensRights21/06/22 04:55 PM
-1

I believe misandry and misogyny is a false equivalence.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 04:42 PM
-2

That’s not what it is for. No one is arguing that true misandry is okay, just because there is no legal ramification. But misandry as a concept has been constantly abused to deny pushes for equality by feminists. For example, the claim “feminism is misandry” is constantly pushed by antifeminists to deter progress toward gender equality.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 04:39 PM
-2

Sorry, how does this make you think I hate men?
/r/MensRights21/06/22 04:32 PM
-2

Sorry, I would agree if misandry and misogyny were the same, but they are not equal. Misogyny is ingrained culturally, systemically, institutionally, and historically. Misandry has no such roots and acts stemming from misandry are from individuals acting out. What do you think?
/r/MensRights21/06/22 04:30 PM
-1

Even if everyone recognizes patriarchy theory, this is different. What I mean is that people often assume women can’t do anything without men, that men are inherently better at things than women. This is especially obvious with accomplished scientists.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 04:22 PM
-2

It’s easy to “disprove” something by claiming that everyone who argues it are “girls with persecution complex.” It doesn’t disprove anything.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 04:18 PM
-1

The pretense of equality is oppressive. If you pretend there is equality and then pretend that you are fighting against the breakage of this false equality, you are oppressive.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 04:11 PM

In my opinion, men and women respectively. I intentionally added “if” because in r/MensRights, my opinion is not the majority opinion.

Most likely I didn’t respond because I missed it or I didn’t think I had anything important to say at the moment or I was still thinking about it or someone else had already replied to me with something similar… sorry I kinda read through all of my notifications at once and only respond to a few.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 07:55 AM
-14

After going through a list of potential privileges, I couldn’t think of any that is truly a privilege for being a woman. Most of the “privileges” can be explained away by benevolent sexism: ex. not being asked to do physical labor is a form of infantilization.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 07:29 AM
-3

Hmmm I guess I never really considered the privileges of child support to be truly privileges because I’d have to be scum to utilize these. And most women aren’t scum enough. So I see these more as problems? If that makes sense. Yes, I would say I’m glad I don’t need to be drafted. I really wish no one would be drafted (and no war would occur.) I think outlawing FGM is an example of “closing the inequality gap,” due to the severity of FGM. Yes, the grammar misuse is so irritating… r/MenAndFemale…
/r/MensRights21/06/22 07:13 AM
-15

I think the difference is that at the moment, misogyny is much more dangerous than misandry. Misogyny is leading to extremely negative outcomes while misandry is a response to misogyny.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 06:56 AM
2

But is it feasible to create laws where no gender and race and other identity is imported into the language of the law, given different identities generate different power levels?
/r/MensRights21/06/22 06:50 AM
-13

I think it’s gendered because of the general severity of misogyny versus misandry.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 06:46 AM
-4

Yes, I have read about plenty of privileges women have from r/MensRights. I think many of the privileges actually arise from men being privileged though, and when the privileges are created by feminism, are not so much a privilege as an inequality closer. What do you think?
/r/MensRights21/06/22 06:40 AM
1

Wouldn’t such a law be specific to women with family? I’m sorry, I’m not understanding.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 06:34 AM
-7

What I think is that mens’ shorter lives are mostly caused by biological and behavioral traits. Whereas oppression of women is a structural entity. I agree more should be done about helping homeless men, but the vast majority of men aren’t affected.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 06:32 AM
-2

I’m interested in your idea, but I don’t quite understand what you mean. Can you elaborate?
/r/MensRights21/06/22 06:27 AM
-18

In that case, since women are not the oppressing class, they cannot abuse the law to perpetuate oppression, therefore misogyny can be a hate crime.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 06:24 AM
-8

Having some areas where men are doing worse than women does not mean men are not the privileged class.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 06:22 AM
-2

Oh I see, thanks for alerting me.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 06:20 AM
-29

Yes, I dislike the argument put forth to promote this law, that it’s somehow “for equality” that such a law was put forth. There are legitimate reasons why some laws are specific for women.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 06:18 AM
-21

The privilege of not being aware he is privileged.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 06:14 AM
-46

I think you are missing the point. What you have just accused me of would be an abuse of the misandry law, preventing the oppressed class from making any gain toward equality, therefore perpetuating the existing power structure.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 06:05 AM
-9

A man doesn’t have people constantly assuming that other men helped him do his work, doesn’t have other people gauging his status by his partner, doesn’t need to work in opposite-gender dominated fields, doesn’t face constant sexual advances at inappropriate times. The privileged class often doesn’t see the privileges they have.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 06:02 AM
-25

If there is an oppressing class, the law can be abused by being a precedent for pushing an “equal” law whenever a protective law is passed hence the facilitating perpetuation of oppression.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 05:55 AM
-154

I think she is claiming that the oppressing class can abuse the misandry law to perpetuate oppression. It would be fine to have a misandry law if it couldn’t be abused this way, but it is really unlikely it wouldn’t be.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 05:43 AM
-96

No, but men are the privileged class so treating misandry as a crime is counterproductive to achieving equality. u/DefiantDepth8932 Asians in the US are not privileged, what are you talking about?? A lot of r/MensRights confuses privilege with results.
/r/MensRights21/06/22 05:38 AM

Hmmm… but doesn’t it at least narrow down the possibility of it not going well by a lot?

So a woman who supports men’s rights should also support women being humbled for men to get off on? No wonder why there aren’t so many female supporters. There should be a clear divide between advocating men’s rights and denigrating women.

How are my comments “man-hating”? Can you give me an example? I genuinely don’t see how they are. As for saying “kill all men,” hardly anyone actually says it except for imaginary women in the manosphere, and when women actually say it is said ironically.

And I would say my friends are average-looking and maybe even above average. If you say men are willing to date down why haven’t they asked my friends out more? Yes, women care about how men look but they are not any more shallow than men are about loo…

/r/MensRights18/06/22 07:03 AM

Oh, I see what you mean. But the court only accepts cases where the report had significant evidence to believe the rape happened. So by the time the victim can give a testimony, there’s usually substantial evidence. What would you say about that?
/r/MensRights18/06/22 06:32 AM
-14

That’s not something to remember, that’s propagating a stereotype. There are plenty of men I don’t find physically attractive that I treat extremely well. And I am not an exception… usually at worst a woman might just not notice a man if he’s not physically attractive to her.

That sounds like a good idea. But how can it be implemented? Let’s say a victim accuses the perpetrator but is legally obligated to keep the perpetrator secret. How can it be enforced? And how can the victim keep themselves safe if it is enforced?

But they are not underrepresented if they make up a minority in bestseller lists, as long as the proportion of old white male writers in the industry is comparable to the proportion in the lists.

If, restricted to the medical field, there are more female doctors than male doctors, why is there a wage gap? Either female doctors are paid less than male doctors, there are more women in lower positions, or both.

Please see appendix B. cdc gov/violenceprevention/pdf/nisvs/nisvsMethodologyReport.pdf In this particular report, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men were considered to be raped/made to penetrate, by the questions asked in the sections for rape. As for why they don’t ask victims directly if they experienced SA, it’s because victims have a wide variety of interpretations of SA.

Why do you think research that supports your point of view is unbiased compared to official research? Staring with sexual intent is not added to things constituting SA. There are more women in med school but in the medical field, women generally work in lower positions. Why? I’m not arguing that men and women get paid very differently for equal work. But even accounting for most factors other than discrimination, there is still a persistent 2% gap remaining. Also, why do women choose work in lower-paying careers and require flexibility in their job? Is it not due to discrimination and gender roles?

Hmmm... besides RBOMI, what other resources can I find? I don't find RBOMI's arguments compelling. I don't see anything on the sidebar? In addition, MRM is different from researchers researching men's issues, because it is a social movement rather than an academic inquiry. It has its own set of ideals and alternative facts that aren't supported by researchers on men's issues.

Ummm… it’s precisely because some people think I’m indoctrinated with feminism that I came here to break the indoctrination. I see. But Singapore isn’t exactly a paragon of gender equality in other issues as well, so I don’t really see hypocrisy in Ng’s argument. I think Singaporean society still heavily embraces traditional gender roles. For example, men are praised and expected to get high-paying jobs, and women are praised and expected to have children.
/r/MensRights12/06/22 06:24 PM

He assumes women are better off in caregiving positions if enlisted. Then he argues that such positions aren’t useful enough for national protection to deserve enlistment. That isn’t quite accurate, in my experience. Yes, they tend to believe women should work in care-related careers. I’m just confused about this subreddit’s members’ anger toward Ng Eng Hen, whose arguments are used by this subreddit’s members to justify an inevitable wage gap, female dependence on men, etc..
/r/MensRights12/06/22 03:45 PM

When discussing the existence or magnitude of a wage gap, several people insisted that women work in care-oriented careers and men work in physical careers for biological reasons. Maybe I’m mistaken, but from what I have seen, this belief is welcomed by a majority in this subreddit.

/r/MensRights12/06/22 07:39 AM

The article makes it clear that Ng Eng Hen does say what you said pretty blatantly. There is no mention of fairness in the article. It’s not economic unfairness, but rather economic tradeoff, that is discussed. The article also says that given Singapore goes to war, women will be enlisted too. Having required enlistment for men in peacetime is not exempting women from being cannon fodder in wartime.
/r/MensRights12/06/22 07:35 AM
-35

Yes, but he also seems to be basing his economic argument on the gender stereotype that women are more fit in the care industry and men are more fit in the military. I don’t see why this is inciting a negative response in this subreddit. His argument aligns with many of this subreddit’s members’ beliefs.

It is not meant to make them feel like being men is a bad thing. Getting rid of toxic masculinity is not male bashing nor is it anti-male. Toxic masculinity is not what it means to be a man. It is a subset of harmful attributes often imposed on men by current social standards.

I said I misread the disclaimer. Sorry about that. NISVS is conducted via phone surveys. I don’t see why a question asking someone whether they have been raped in their lifetime would result in more of an estimate than a question asking about the last 12 months. I’m not desperately citing 2015-2017 data. I could only find NISVS data for 2010, 2015, and 2016-2017. 1.2% is the 12 month rate. 20% is the lifetime rate. Given the age of people surveyed this is a reasonable conclusion. The DOJ report investigates yearly rapes for university-aged individuals. According to it, around 0.6% of women aged 18-24 are raped. I couldn’t find where it said 0.2% are raped. NISVS surveys a wider range of ages, so I’m not sure how comparable the DOJ number is to the NISVS on yearly rape. The weight of the burden would be more widely distributed. But current social norms prevent men from opening up to more people.
/r/MensRights07/06/22 04:34 PM
-2

This is a result of men not opening up. Men are more likely to seek emotional support from solely their partners as opposed to reaching out to friends and family. As a result, some women are overly burdened by the task of emotional support toward some men, resulting in such frustration. The root of the problem is not women pushing men away. It is that men are less likely to reach out.
/r/MensRights07/06/22 03:44 PM

There are plenty of factors that discourage women to apply and companies building programs for women to apply, while potentially bridging the gap, is not enough.
/r/MensRights07/06/22 03:40 PM

Why is 12 month data more accurate? I misread the table. I thought it said 12 month estimates had high standard error, but it doesn’t. But NISVS 2015 and 2016-2017 data both show around 1.2% rape and .7% made to penetrate. With these statistics, I don’t see the contradiction if CDC cites NISVS’s most recent data.
/r/MensRights07/06/22 03:33 PM

Yes. Please look into it.
/r/MensRights07/06/22 03:13 PM

Yes, women often miss out on opportunities because they don’t apply to them. In addition, for women and men with identical qualifications, men are more likely to be hired, likely due to unconscious bias.
/r/MensRights07/06/22 03:08 PM
-104

Women are more likely to get hired once they apply, but they generally are discouraged to apply to reach jobs. Men often suffer from lack of emotional support due to not reaching out to family and friends, behavior often indirectly caused by toxic masculinity.
/r/MensRights07/06/22 08:37 AM

There is a discrepancy but it is certainly not 2-3 years versus life. What I mean by similar is for example what is shown in figures in “The Gender Gap in Sex Offender Punishment”.
/r/MensRights06/06/22 05:38 PM
0

The 12 month number is an estimate that in the 2010 NISVS was not reported because of high standard error, not because women hate men. There is still a large discrepancy in lifetime rape. In the 2015 NISVS, the 12 month estimate is more closely aligned to lifetime rates.

Careers where women are dominating or are sufficiently represented in tend to be careers where they were allowed to work in earlier. Thus animosity toward women in these careers faded away. STEM is a field where these gender stereotypes have not been eradicated yet. It’s also inaccurate to say STEM requires hard work in comparison to female-dominated fields. For example healthcare?
/r/MensRights06/06/22 08:02 AM

/r/MensRights06/06/22 07:19 AM

I mean it is a semantic difference because in practice the equivalent of a man raping a woman is prosecuted similarly.
/r/MensRights06/06/22 06:45 AM

It is unfortunately the law in the UK, but fortunately the equivalent to rape seems to be prosecuted with equivalent punishment. I have made no argument on which gender is SAed more, and by how much. But I have the NISVS 2015 Data Brief open, and nowhere does the data show near equal occurrence of rape/made to penetrate by gender.
/r/MensRights06/06/22 06:43 AM

Labor and STEM are often not seen as career options for women due to the gender stereotypes they are raised within. Even if a girl is interested in construction, it’s assumed that it’s not something she would pursue as as a career. It’s definitely not because women don’t work hard. There are still opportunities for bias in STEM. For example, unconscious bias against women will affect hiring. Representation reservations in other fields do not solve the problem in your argument because often STEM …

Here is what you are saying. In STEM, hard work pays off. Therefore men continue to dominate STEM. What else needs to be true for your argument to hold? You must be assuming that men work harder than women. Which is a misogynistic belief.

Yes, I am reading. And I saw that your argument was founded by misogynistic beliefs and called you out on it. Then you refuse to admit it. What narrative am I writing?

So you admit you’re assuming men are more hardworking than women in your supposed explanation. Which isn’t true, so your explanation falls flat.

If hard work pays off, why is it still male-dominated?

You are saying that men are more capable of handling hard work than women? Why do you think that?

No it isn’t? Women in STEM are constantly looked down upon from a young age due to gender stereotyping… and the male-dominated workforce pushes women away. As well as rampant sexual harassment. Whereas men are encouraged to pursue STEM from a young age and assumed to be better at physics and math.

It’s a semantic difference.

Please verify your statements with information outside of the manosphere before posting. Women can be charged for SA on men in the UK.

What is there to address? If I call out the obvious sexist bias in your comments, you will all angrily deny it and provide more flaky arguments based on the supposed nature of the sexes. It makes me sick.

It doesn't happen though?

Please stop looking at my post history. It has absolutely nothing to do with this conversation.

Please don't go through my post history and assume diagnoses. I'm not emotionally charged. Thanks.

This is a recurring theme in the MRM that I am frustrated with. Members regurgitate statistics about men versus women and assume that the cause of the differences are misandry. It is most often not.

Most people don't go around telling other people in real life about their or other's SA experiences. Even people I trust and have known for a long time, I would probably not tell them. It doesn't mean that SA is not happening. SA is hard to prove. Often there are no witnesses. Even if nothing is proven, it doesn't mean it didn't happen. It especially doesn't mean that the victim was lying. And what can a friend do to prove the SA? They have no evidence to input. At the current state, it's often …

Thanks for your response. He states that his initial reaction to exposure to feminism was to watch YouTube videos from the manosphere. This is MRM experience. These YouTube videos tend to boil down to a couple of points: teach misogynistic thinking and teach misinterpretations of feminism. Women in his life are not explicitly telling him that he is evil. They are telling him that the patriarchal system we live in is evil. The APA is saying masculinity is harmful, not men are harmful. But I think…

It’s not this post in particular but in general, I have been seeing MRA furiously recruiting curious people whenever given the chance. I think I do understand what he is going through. It is self-victimization triggered by watching dubious YouTube videos from the manosphere. One thing I really cannot stand about this subreddit is using the facade of false accusations to discount victims of rape or other SA. It really frustrated me to see the satire on rape just being bad sex. Hypothesizing about…

So I have been lurking and reading posts in this subreddit because I wanted to know what this place was really about, but I really can't take it anymore. Sorry, I need to vent somewhere. I think the MRM should really please stop dragging innocent people into this pit of hate with flimsy justification. Way too many arguments echoing throughout this chamber have little evidence supporting them and too much of it is based upon internal biases and assumptions and myths. Yet somehow it's drawing peop…
