Marriage in itself isn't bad, the problem is that it has turned into nothing but an exploitation contract. Everything that was good about marriage for men has been removed, such as male authority and free access to sex. Meanwhile women have kept and even expanded on what they can get out of marriage. Not sharing ones woman with others is a biological need, a necessity. To change biological instincts require alot of abuse of the human psyche. Delve into the past is a waste of time and only leads to suffering. The past is as dead to me as a carcass lying at the side of the road, it's kind of a dream, an illusion, might aswell not have happened at all. You can learn from past experiences, but "what ifs" are stupid. The only thing that is real and we have control over is the present. The famous stoics explains this a whole better than I will, but it will be a groundbreaking experience once you truly internalize and absorb it.

Peace of mind. Don't mind being dirt poor as long as I have enough to live and a peaceful mind. A sense of calmness and serenity, that makes me happy. Happiness comes from within, if you have yourself and are your own best friend it doesn't matter what happens in life, you will always be calm and at peace.
