I don’t believe there is only one person in the world who is your soulmate. I believe every person has multiple people out there in the world who would be potentially incredible partners for them, it just depends on where you go in life. It doesn’t have to be romantic either, and you could have multiple “soulmates.”

A lot of men could be more attractive with just a little effort. If the guy on the left got a better haircut, lost some weight, saw a dermatologist (or even showered more regularly), and learned to dress a little better, he could probably find a woman willing to date him. Think of how many makeover shows there are where the guy looks 10x better by just changing very basic things about his appearance and lifestyle. They make it seem like they’re doomed to be unwanted, but with some work, they can…

I mean I think dick-shaped things are funny sometimes, but that’s totally different from using it as masturbatory material

I always bought into that because men seem to love porn and looking at naked women, but I’ve never wanted to Google pictures of dicks to masturbate to. I’d prefer to use my imagination and think about the person that I’m into. Even if I have a boyfriend, I don’t want him to send me dick pics. Is this just a societal conditioning?

Yeah I can agree with that. I really want to be able to be as girly as I want and not have to apologize for it, but I don’t want men to assume I’m stupid because of that either. So bimbo is probably not the best word, but I’m not sure if there’s something similar, but better, to describe myself. Just “hyper feminine?”

This is true. A lot of men don’t understand subtext or don’t take the time to try.

I can definitely see how it could become toxic, but I’ve really identified with “bimbo culture” at times. I’ve always been hyper feminine and made fun of for it, all the way back to grade school. And while I don’t openly call myself a bimbo, I do like creators like Chrissy Chlapecka who espouse being independent and not letting men, or anyone else, treat you poorly. For me, wearing a ton of pink and glitter and artistic makeup sometimes is a fun way to perform my femininity that doesn’t feel lik…

It’s really sad. A lot of girls in college have OFs to try to pay their bills, but it ends up biting them in the ass. You should be more careful with your future, but if you’re going to do it anyway, don’t post it anywhere people in real life could find you. Hide the personal details. We’re “woke” now or whatever, but most of the companies that are going to consider hiring you are run by Boomers who aren’t going to be cool with you having amateur porn of yourself lurking around on the Internet.

LVM cheat because they want to get their dicks wet, with as many women as possible. Most of them wouldn’t even be in a relationship if they weren’t pressured into it. They view a girlfriend as someone to take care of them. That’s what a relationship offers them. They want her to be committed to them, without having to be fully committed to her.

I don’t think it’s clever, but I tell people that I’m looking for a life partner, and if a man doesn’t add to my life, it’s just not worth my time. I haven’t met the right guy yet- someone who can meet me where I’m at.

Okay, it was probably more of a knee-jerk response because he felt slighted when she said she didn’t want a gift. A man lashing out because he got his ego hurt? That would make sense.

I just can’t imagine wanting to sleep with a man casually, while he openly has a partner that he’s actually in a relationship with and supposedly prioritizes over you. Why the hell would you volunteer to be some guy’s side chick?

Do most men really think this deeply about their gift choices like that? I think he was a dick by giving her a lazy gift, and it makes it seem like he doesn’t pay attention or take her dietary choices seriously. But how would you know if it was deliberate and insidious? Maybe I’m not giving him enough credit, I’m not sure.

It’s really sad. I have a friend who has an OF on the side and it’s how she pays most of her bills, but she could probably make a lot more money if she had focused on becoming an engineer like she wanted to do before COVID. But now she’s convinced it’s too late for her and no school would consider her if they knew about her sex work. I love her and I’m glad she’s doing okay, but I can’t imagine digging yourself in so deep that you can’t do anything else. I’m not sure what she’ll do once she’s ol…

I think it boils down to the world being a shitty place, and we all knew as kids that it didn’t have to be like that, and it shouldn’t be like that. So there is a guardedness and a sadness going into adulthood and into dating, and watching people who should know how to act- acting like sleazeballs.

Yep, almost all my friends have long term boyfriends or are gay, or both. I definitely have close friendships with different people in my life, so I have to remember that I’m lucky to have them. Even though it does feel a little awkward third-wheeling a lot of the time ¯\(ツ)/¯

Same, it’s difficult for me to meet men my age without going to bars, and those guys are usually there looking for sex. Besides, I work most weekends so when would I go? This is the longest I’ve been completely single, like no guy I’m talking to or seeing regularly, even just sexually, in a while. It’s weird. It’s kind of freeing, but I do get lonely. I haven’t even had a hug from another person in over a month and that kinda sucks. But not having any drama might be worth it…

Yes, we want the lifelong commitment and loyalty, but we don’t want to give up what we’ve earned in our lives and we don’t want the man to weaponize the marriage against us.

The problem with half of Gen Z/millennial men is that they’ve never had to struggle. Granted, the economy does suck. It’s super hard for many people to get jobs that pay them super well. But so many guys are CHOOSING to live with their parents, when they could provide for themselves and basically have Peter Pan syndrome. They think they have forever to decide what they want to do with their lives so they sit at home, rent and responsibility free. Some of them have trouble finding work, but some …

That’s disgusting. Just because it’s animated doesn’t mean it’s not dehumanizing and brutal. But on the video games note, I agree, the multiplayer chats like that are awful. So many people screaming nasty shit at you, especially if they find out you’re a woman playing the game. The culture is just toxic.

That’s a huge turn off. I like to play Animal Crossing and stereotypically feminine games, and these kinds of guys hit on me and shit on me in the same breath for trying to be a “fake gamer girl.” Dude, I don’t water virtual flowers to make your dick hard, I do it because it’s relaxing. I’ve never felt comfortable around guys who play super competitive games where you go around shooting people- it just feels a step removed from the real thing.

This guy is just cruel. She probably has no clue he’s just using her to better himself for someone he really wants. Bold of him to assume that these girls who are “his type” are even going to want him. Success is attractive, but if you’re an asshole, I don’t care how much money you make or what you do for a living. I hope the girlfriend sees through his bullshit and these other women reject him. He doesn’t have to love or be with his current partner if he’s unhappy. And staying just to benefit f…

It’s normal to generally be attracted to the same features in men or in women, but just because some people look the same, doesn’t make them the same person. People say I look a lot like my mother but we couldn’t be more different. I think it’s problematic when you equate someone’s physical appearance with their personality. Not every guy who looks like Superman might act like your husband does. And you wouldn’t just replace him with a lookalike if it didn’t work out, you know?

I mean I guess I can see why it might be a little awkward for the girl that her hookup’s father is offering her advice, but if I was in her shoes, and he was telling me that his son low key sucks, I would listen. If someone warns you and you still stick around, it’s your fault if you end up getting hurt.

I think he genuinely was concerned for her. He threw his own kid under the bus because he didn’t want her wasting her time. Good on him, because his son sounds like a fckboy, and he needs to grow up majorly before any woman should bother paying attention to him. That’s even *if he bothers growing up- that’s never a guarantee. Hopefully his dad will steer him right.

It makes me sad that women feel they have to get back together with the father of their child. If the man cheated on her, he cheated on the whole family. I think the child has a right to decide if they want anything to do with their father, once they’re old enough, but I think mama should set a good example and leave his ass. Don’t teach your children that people can treat you terribly and then have to suffer no consequences. My dad cheated on my mom when I was a baby, and she raised me with her…

Yes! My ex used me to cheat on his girlfriend and I had no idea. When she found out, she tried to create all these lies to get me away from him so she could have him all to herself. Sis, the second I found out the type of person he was- I was out. She’s still with his crusty ass.

I’m pretty happy in my life, with the things that I can control anyway. I have really great friends and I have enough money to cover my expenses and have some to spare for nicer things/experiences. I do live with a very happy couple though. And so I guess it’s hard watching them be so happy and wonder why you can’t have that too.

So I just randomly got banned on Tinder, but after little to no success with the app anyway, I just decided to delete all the dating apps from my phone. But now I’m kind of at a loss- how do people actually meet HVM? I spend a lot of time at work, unfortunately, so that does make it a little harder for me. And I don’t really want to do the whole bar scene in the middle of the pandemic. Any advice?

When guys say they have a crazy ex girlfriend, they laugh it off and it’s usually not too serious. You don’t hear a lot of women say they have a crazy ex boyfriend because a lot of those women are probably dead, or at least abused and traumatized. But men don’t want to talk about that.

Yes, I don’t have a “friend group,” but I have multiple female friends, and a few male friends, who I talk with regularly. When we’re not in the middle of a quarantine, I try to hang out with friends 2 or 3 times a week, depending on people’s availability. I also live with a close female friend of mine, and her boyfriend, who I consider to also be a friend. And I’ve become mutual friends with their friends. I’m very outgoing, so I definitely like to be around people.

For companionship, and I’d ultimately like to have a partner to raise my children with. But if it doesn’t happen for me, that’s okay too. A lot of relationships are more trouble than they’re worth, sure, but I think it’s a very common thing to want.

Yeah, I would like a life partner eventually, but only if it’s an equal partnership. If I wanted to be a mother, I’d have children. I don’t want to mommy a boyfriend.

I think that’s true. I think I’ve only been in love twice in my life, and both situations I had to step out of because the way they treated me changed, and I couldn’t compromise my self-esteem just to stay. It was super hard, because whether I left or stayed, I was still going to get hurt. But I think a lot of the issues I had were a lack of experience on my end, and an inability for the guys to process/express their own emotions. I’m hoping that that’s got to do with age, so that’s a huge reaso…

I guess patience is the name of the game. I’ve watched my mom’s relationship struggles with both my dad and my step-dad, so I think that’s why I’m more steadfast in what I want. She saw things in both of them, early on, that really bothered her and chose to ignore them. Those same things became points of contention and didn’t just “go away.” I don’t want to make the same mistakes and end up unhappy. I would rather be alone. But I do want to believe that there is a guy out there who’s right for m…

You know, I should’ve done that. But I unmatched him almost immediately after that, because I am NOT going to get involved with a married man- even if his wife is okay with it. Which, I’m sure she’s not and he’s just saying that. I don’t know his last name or anything or else I would totally send that to his wife. All I can do now is hope that karma puts a stop to this or she wises up.

I definitely have been working towards it. I just joined the local PRSA chapter and I go to their monthly luncheons and stuff. I don’t want anything serious until I’m in the industry and totally financially stable, but I enjoy male company. It’s definitely a weird part of my life to be in.

My problem is I’m 23, and I work at a restaurant, so I work most weekend nights or like any time that HVM would likely be off work. I’m trying to get into PR, which is what I went to school for, it’s just competitive to get your foot in the door. Most of my hobbies are quite feminine as well- except for video games, but that’s not an out-of-the-house type hobby. I don’t know what kind of places I would go to honestly. I can’t afford like a country club or anything. And bars and nightclubs can be…

It’s one of those things, where I didn’t pry because things were still new, but this information I discovered is definitely concerning and something I would’ve wanted to know at some point. So while he hasn’t out right LIED to me, I don’t like what I’ve learned, and I’m not about to stick around if multiple people are warning me about him. I’m still debating if I’ll go to coffee or not, it depends on how I feel in the morning, but I don’t see him the same way anymore.

I think once you realize that you deserve someone who puts in as much as you, that’s when you wake up. Whether it’s “rock bottom” or not, it hurts putting your heart into a relationship and getting barely anything back. You get tired, and that’s what did it for me. I was tired of accepting less than what I really wanted, and I realized that it was on me. I needed to change how I acted and needed to set boundaries of what treatment was acceptable to me. I’m never looking back now.

That’s a fair point. I have a friend my age whose boyfriend is a 38 year old ex con. And I’m not surprised knowing her, because her track record with men is just ALL over the place. But as pretty as she is, it’s always been suspicious to me why someone that much older than her would want to be in a relationship with her. When I move, I plan on doing activities I’m interested in, so I recognize that Tinder or whatever isn’t the end all, be all. I just want to be smart about it
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/10/19 12:54 AM

That’s totally fair. No man is going to be perfect. I think I would prefer a little older, as the guys I dated in college were all indecisive and flaky, and I chalk that up to a lack of maturity and a lack of knowing themselves. I’m sure that there are annoying things that older men do, but feeling like their brains are more developed to begin with would be a nice change

That kind of thing makes me wonder if I shouldn’t get into a relationship until I’m older and actually ready for marriage. As I’m not right now, maybe I’m better off with FWBs until that point in time.
