Intimidating, threatening, or endeavoring to influence an official in any court is against federal law. I'm not sure of the legality of an action like that as far as just inciting violence goes.

It seems a little harsh to tell me to save the religious argument for church when I just made a whole point of explaining how my political reasoning deviates from my religious beliefs. "Life begins at conception" was not part of my argument in my last post, it was a part of the preface where I explained my personal belief. I then went on to show that I am not relying on that to make an anti-abortion argument, exactly in the interest of not forcing my religious beliefs on anyone else. My secular …

I completely understand how you took that as being my argument, and you're right that it would be inconsistent to believe that, but my point isn't quite as simple as you made it out to be. Sorry for the lack of clarification. My personal belief is that life starts at conception (consensual pregnancy or otherwise), but I recognize that not everybody agrees with my religious views. Therefore, when it comes to policymaking, I think its fair to try to address these moral questions without bringing r…

The idea that some people "need" sex to be happy before they're married isn't very compelling. Anecdotally, I voluntarily went without it for a long time and it never effected my health for a second. It actually felt good to not have to chase sex. I'm more stressed out now that I'm not abstaining, mostly because I'm not ready for a kid yet. It would be the most convenient thing for my girlfriend and I to be able to leave abortion on the table as a fallback option, but we both understand that we …

My only problem with that is that if you become pregnant, you haven't taken every available precaution. Taking every precaution includes abstaining from sex. Lots of people in our increasingly progressive society think that abstinence is unreasonable, and thats fine as long as you don't feel entitled to do something that is morally controversial if the contraceptives don't work out. The only exception of course, would be if a woman were impregnated by rape, because that would actually fit the de…

I completely agree

I know very few hardcore christians who aren't fond of contraceptives, but I'd say the vast majority of people who are anti-abortion think contraceptives are a good thing. You're absolutely right, the right idea would be to just make sure pregnancy doesn't happen by any means. Doesn't matter whether you employ chastity or contraceptives. If one mess up and get pregnant, the consequences that one had invited upon themself should be on them to deal with. That doesn't make them owed the right for a…

The degree at which it changes it debatable, but the fact that certain behaviors change with age certainly is not.

Just because they aren't interested in intellectual topics doesn't mean they aren't attracted to it when a guy is. I think most girls want an intelligent guy. There's nothing attractive about being unintelligent (unless you were looking for someone you can intellectually dominate, but I don't think that's what you're talking about). The amount of importance women assign their desire for intelligence depends on a few things like what kind of relationship they want. If they're also 21, there's a g…

Why? Women use the sexual success of a potential partner as an indicator of that partner's quality. If a guy is always getting attractive women, other women will assume there's a reason for that. There is no evolutionary basis for this behavior in men, as they mainly rely on their own visual assessment of women when looking for a partner. Men also have to be more careful to find partners that are faithful to ensure they are raising their own offspring; that obviously isn't a factor for women. It…

I was referring to the comment we're replying to, not OP: "The average woman by comparison is just able to glide through life, secure in the knowledge a man she finds attractive will always swoop in to save her from herself and her shitty selfish choices." I think that's fairly true, and that it's a huge privilege. We might not disagree here, as long as you're not implying that it isn't a privilege because it's dictated by our biology.

It isn't that it would be inherently shitty to marry at 30. I don't think that's the best choice for most women, but my opinion is totally irrelevant and I support anybody's right to do so if they wish (obviously). However, the original comment seemed to make the argument that a woman would be able to make choices that are shitty (like racking up debt or neglecting any type of personal or financial growth) without facing the repercussions, because some beta will gladly swoop in and save her. Con…

Because the ramifications of her shitty actions were deferred to other people, (namely men) in most cases.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
