I feel a lot of empathy towards you cause I was the exact same. A few points: - emotion control doesn’t necessarily just get better with age, but by being able to understand and rationalise your emotions. Journaling helped me enormously - if something upsets you, stop for 5 minutes and write why you think you feel that way, what’s the trigger (as opposed to blaming it on the other person). OWNING the emotion instead of projecting on others will change the way you live your relationships - obvs t…

I’m thinking I may be putting too much importance on sex at the beginning of a relationship so that becomes central for my partner too, which then can’t settle for anything less intense. I definitely take care of my partners at a deeper level too, but I’m afraid that’s not the main energy I give off

I’m not a native English speaker. And frankly if anything I’m the one giving too much in a relationship until I don’t accept it anymore :)

I feel exactly the same about the people I’ve been with before, I’ve definitely thought there was something wrong with me for feeling like that. Glad to know that this doesn’t happen with the right person

That’s beautiful and I’m genuinely happy some people have that. But I’d say she can express that part of herself because you create a safe space for her. Not every person gets a partner like that, because we keep on attracting people that are similar to us, or because we come from a messed up family system

Absolutely - I do believe it’s an addiction like any other

Thank you! My main fear is that if it’s not fun for me then it’s no fun for them either, and I’m terrified of men leaving to find sexual satisfaction elsewhere. Maybe I should avoid putting sex at the center of my relationship and make it the focus of our connection

Long story short, my parents have been together for 30+ years but, since I can remember, it was a very dry and empty relationship. I have never, not once, seen affection between my parents or any sign that there’s love between them. My mother has been quietly suffering for years due to my father’s inability to emotionally be there for her and support her. I somehow see myself in my mother and have been doing everything in my power to never be in this situation in my life

It was so beautiful to read this. What do you think keeps the spark alive for you? Is intimacy still as satisfactory as in the beginning?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
