I could be wrong but I don’t think OP is talking about the term “women and children first”, like in a lifeboat type scenario, but more the fact that whenever the news reports that a missile strike has killed ‘300 people’, they will then often follow it up by clarifying “….including women and children…”, as if that somehow makes it even more heinous of an act.

Have any of you guys ever been on a plane/train and destroyed your thigh/calf muscles from flexing the entire trip to purposefully keep your legs from relaxing to their natural position for fear that this would infringe on your neighbour's seat space? Because I have, many times, and to me this belt/band thing actually seems like a fantastic contraption to counteract this.
