I don't know why but I feel like the barcode as the mouth would speak volumes. It's an amazing idea nonetheless and congrats on making such an evocative thing.

It's been months since ive even bothered looking at the /mensrights comments; ad hominim and (sometimes) just pure hatred seem to be the special of the day most days. Level headed discussion with open minds seems to no longer be associated with most subreddits once they pass a certain subscriber number. If could pm any good/interesting ideological subreddits you browse I'd appreciate it.

I disagree with your method of definition, I define any 'ideology' by definition, by literature and by application of systems of 'morality'. Hence, my definition of socialism includes the left leaning safety nets implemented by capitalist and industrialists societies in order to curb the lower class' growing want for more left leaning systems of government. This appropriation of the left in capitalist economies has made them far from the ideal capitalist economy into a pseudocapitalist one. Your…

You're thinking of communist economics. Almost all modern democracies have aspects of socialism in economics, social issues and health care. Take child labor laws and worker safety laws for example. Those are rooted in socialist movements. A pure capitalist economy wouldn't have those because it wouldn't be free market, it would be government regulation.

20 is pretty limited man. I myself am 20 and recognize that my experience so far was tailored by my parents and who they let me interact with at least until 10, and from then on people who were in a similar socioeconomic standing and region as me until at least 16 or 17. From there, that's maybe 3 years of expanded world exposure simply from travels and university. Edit: clarity

Yup, they had to squeeze in the men-also-as-victims as patriarchy was shown to be a simplistic reduction of gender issues. Terms like "negative" patriarchy for when men aren't benefitting and "positive" patriarchy when it's shown women aren't put in danger as much just shows the amount of dancing that goes into making patriarchy "presentable".
/r/MensRights11/12/13 06:04 PM

It's the idea that women aren't deemed 'good enough' or 'powerful enough' and must be 'taken care of' thereby reducing their agency in genderwide determinism. Thus, men being under drafts and similar systems means they go out and 'defend the women and children', which means women are weak, as weak as at least children. So, the patriarchy aspect of it was that idea that women must be defended and can't actually participate in war, thus having less agency. Patriarchy isn't necessarily men oppressi…

It would be if I said 'impossible' and 'anyone', but back when I was more actively lurking and sometimes commenting on this subreddit, nafalt arguments and things like that were thrown around super easy. That plus the general dogmatic nature of discussions is why I stopped trying to comment as much. Outright dismissal is just at a high for a movement touting that feminists refuse to do consider criticism.

On this subreddit you'll find a hard time convincing most that feminists and "feminists" (I.e. those who associate themselves with feminism but don't have any real understanding of ideology, e.g. many tumblr feminists) are different people.

I was angered by the tone miracleriver had in his writing and the misappropriation of the studies to draw conclusions beyond the scope of what the data showed. I fully agree that sensitivity is probably reduced, but disagree to the extent of the level of sensitivity. As well, I understand anecdotes aren't passable in any way as scientific data, but take note that any scientific study of such will have no true quantifiable data to report, as it too will be anecdotal of the subject's response and …

I fully understand the risk of mutilation and deformation, and find it abhorrable. I just took issue with the idea that it's near impossible for me to have sexual ability given that apparently I have no feeling in my glans (a fact I can personally counter). My cousin had to have his at around age 9, and he reports no issues with sensitivity, and mine was done at 6 months. Now this was done in Iran, a reportedly 3rd world country. Actually, from personal experience, although the glans is quite sensitive and the source of a lot of pleasure, it's near impossible to come solely form stimulation of the glans. The underside of the shaft is directly linked to the actual act of ejaculation, and partial pleasure as well. P.S. im circumsized

Because female genital mutation can involve sewing the vagina closed until the girl grows up and is ready for sex. Then, cutting the closed skin open for sex, and sewing it back up until time for giving birth. As a circumcised man, I feel that's a bit worse.

I'm sad you didn't see I was listing those arguments to indicate how flawed any idea to represent a definition of a human is. And inevitably will be. You cannot make legislature without a definition, and so in banning they are choosing no definition. Which is a shameful cop out. Oh, so you meant topic as in different issues. I use a much similar tactic. Sometimes I show my shock that this would happen and make evident the absurdity of it, but avoid the discussion so they don't treat the piece defensively. Yes, definitely. Well, I mean my response to such ridiculously broad and sweeping statements is to take the absurd argument to it's logical conclusion, usually involving myself in a plausible situation to show the human element in these issues. Thank you for reading what I said. You obviously understood the implied idea of an anecdotal difference between "civilized" and not cultures, which quite clearly made no indication of a tone of superiority either way but was easily extrapolated from one aspect to mean a complete societal campaign. First off, if we're basing it off thinking rationally, most people alive today would not be man, as logic is a fast shrinking skill in a world of memorized facts and irrational arguments. This fact is, of course, external to our discussion and isn't ad hominem. Bipedalism, leaves quite a few disabled bredrin out in the non-human dust as well, so hmm. To be honest, my early upbringings were in a 3rd world country, and actual respect for women was much higher there. But that's cultural differences. That country (or my area in it) had a culture of respect towards women stemming from a deep appreciation of one's mother. Here's the surprise, it was in Iran. I find a much different attitude (not disrespect, just different) in my western culture. But obviously we experienced different 3rd worlds.

Oh you mean like, the white knight kind (actually is that derogatory? i'm actually not sure) But yeah, that's an excellent approach, that's how most opinion changing happens, subtle provision of material to cause re-evaluation by the person themselves. That's how I've brought up the discussion with the more gungho people, except I don't personally like GWW much (i'd rather read it than listen) If i could ask, which topic do you mean? I disagree. It depends on the feminist, seeing as they are actually people, a fact quite easily forgotten in this thread. they are not a conglomerated massive scary blob are they? well, depending on how you answer that question obviously you'll either agree or disagree with my next point. I mean, heck sean connery publicly refused to apologize for beating his wife with like, no consequences or societal outlast just a half century ago. Lennon only apologized for beating his wife late 70s if I remember, and that's only because he chose to, not because it wasn't tolerated.

I dislike this idea/argument. Sure it stands to counter patriarchy's existence, but thus we have to take every disadvantage (given to women) as also being given by men. We can't be "gods who work in mysterious ways" when bad things occurred but then attribute positive things to ourselves. As well, literal non-personhood vs effective treatment is different, as is the geographical location. And does the fact not remain that a woman could be hit with literally no legal recourse? physical reproductive rights are metaphorical too, you realize? you have no need for a right to be mandated by law unless it's infringed upon, i.e. if a woman is not in need of said procedure (whose use they're attempting to ban) then she doesn't have her right taken away does she? if you said yes to the above, then the male reproductive rights are infringed upon daily by also not having the option for self-determination if the case arrives (i.e. no wish for a child, but being forced the respons…
