unless you're a 10 or you've got good game, which I currently do not, but plan to strengthen this area. This... if you work on yourself with focus over the next 6 months (and there's no reason you can't lose 20+ lbs and get your act together in that time), then you'll be better off regardless of if this all works out or not.

You can read a book and understand how to ride a bike, but actually doing it ti something different, and you only become proficient at riding a bike by doing it. Just like many, many other things in life. ;)

First, decide you want to lift for you, not her. Otherwise, it's a covert contract and you are an even bigger faggot than when you started. This is the most important part OP. /u/punter4lyfe Though the rest is solid, solid advice as well.

Good on ya for it. The wife and I got through a bunch of our rough times specifically because of a great therapist. She has an incredible ability to call both of us on our shit when needed. Some sessions she'd look at me and call me on my shit, while the next week it may be the wife's turn. Of course, just to be "like that" I called her a marriage coach instead of a therapist, but same as you, I'm not shy about it, and I actually encourage friends/couples to seek out a coach for their relationsh…

That plus therapy. Many people (men) don't realize that getting a little help to sort your life out is both very beneficial and expedites the process immensely. Way to get your life sorted out... and so sorry for your loss.

This is an interesting take... thanks for the perspective... solid.

First off... that sucks, and I'm sorry, no one should have to go through the loss of a child. Hang in there. Second, My wife (and perhaps AWALT) tends to hate these kinds of "surprises." Good surprises? Sure. Unexpected breakdowns/drama... not so much. My wife and I are at the place where I can pre-pave something like this. Example. "Look honey, I've got this handled. Even though it's killing me inside. At some point in the future, it may all come flooding out, but for now I'm building a dam so …

I'm with you dude... knowing that you can doesn't mean you have to. You never know, she could have fucking drugged you, taken your wallet, and told your wife. I'd say well done.

We have yet to do an extended vacation without kids for longer than 2 nights in over 10 years of marriage. We have no family nearby to help, so it's always a bitch trying to pay for a sitter for multiple nights. I'll put this on the #goals for sure though.

Why rev up your Ferrari if you have nowhere to drive? That's really funny.

I am totally in this camp... this shit is NOT natural, but the proof is in how my life has changed over the past few years. And the changes I'm making have all had a positive result, regardless of how unnatural they feel at first. Hopefully the small difference is that I know that when I start, I'm following instructions/a spreadsheet but I KNOW it. I KNOW that I'm going to be a little autistic at times, but those fuck-ups will give me insight to creating my own map and guide. Honestly, it's kin…

You know what... I'm gonna grab the audio book too, now that you mentioned it... it would be great to actually hear them played out.

Really good point... for real, I'd almost pay someone to role play a few scenarios just to get a feel for the language of how to do it correctly. If you never read the passages, you'd have NOTHING to go on...all verba, no acta

If you find the right lady... I'd say it can work. That may take you a while... but if your into this seriously, I imagine it would be worth the wait.

If she calls it "sulking" then you MUST laugh, and then go DO something. This will make her hamster start, since you're not taking her comment seriously, she'll wonder how she can be so off from what you're thinking/experiencing. She needs to start examining/questioning her assumptions about how you two are. Every time you want to go to her for something, think of what else you have to do. Women love drama, and feelz, you'll be giving her both. Also, know that she's not necessarily unique. On so…

What level of dread are you operating at? This. If OP wants to fuck with her a little, then literally don't fuck her for a week, or even two. Her hamster will start running in your favor. I finally realized that my wife was more "connected" when I actively ignored her, and actually actively did NOT do what she expected. When I gave NO emotional connection, she would actively start searching for one. In the OP's wife's mind (shoutout /u/trpbritguy), she's thinking, "I do what I want all day, thes…

I was so clueless at the time that I could not have possibly developed the insight I have now without others breaking it down step by step and explaining it to me This is key. It's completely the "can't see the forrest thru the trees" thing. Providing perspective and insight to those who can't see yet is one of the best things we can do for fellow RP guys who are trying to better their lives.

Upvote for good advice, seeing through my shit for me, and alliteration. Thanks to all of you, my posts are becoming fewer and fewer, less seeking advice and having more fucking living to do.

FUCK... thank you. I have to keep relearning that it how I'M acting/feeling that SHE reacts to, get my own shit together, and she'll feed of of that. For all the progress that I've made, I still fall into non-confidence/approval seeking when a situation is new. Still some stuff to work on there, but need to remember that the less big of a deal I make ANYTHING the less of a deal it'll be for her, and if she thinks it is, that isn't me reality, that's her hamster.

TLDR - Your wife is not the enemy because you are not a victim. When this shit finally happens, when you TRULY get it, that's when the shift starts to happen. EDIT - Posts like this are also why I'm finding MRP more and more useful as compared to the TRP sub...nice.

Dude...that shit was a great, great read...wish we could still comment over there. I've found the more I'm on point, the more willing the lady is to try new stuff. It's kinda like the anal stuff a while ago where it wasn't that your girl won't do anal, she just won't do anal with YOU. Same applies for threesomes (& moresomes) I would imagine.

This shit is tricky for me, and I feel like maybe I should read the 5LL book or something. I KNOW that personally, touch, beats out all of the others, but it's been my experience that that needing/wanting physical contact can be perceived as being needy. Depending on the day (getting better all the time), I can go all day without initiating contact, but it takes conscious, focused effort. I think I read somewhere on this sub, or the RP one, that as a man, you just learn to live/thrive on a certa…

Covert fucking contract. This...so this...after reading NNMNG, I realized I had TONS of these. The wife can just sense if you're doing something for her, or if ou're REALLY doing it for yourself. As long as she feels "needed" she's in the driver's seat. Do stuff where you don't need her. Do stuff where you don't expect her to change because of your behavior. It's a mind fuck for us who are working through natural beta tendencies, but that shit works.
