She did so well! That being said in hindsight in her shoes I would of taken an Uber home.

I was very young. I was 21 when we met, and 23 when we got married. We only dated for a year before getting married. To be completely honest religion played a big part in getting married in that time frame. I thought sex before marriage would lead to an eternity of hell. I was Mormon then, and a year was considered a long time to date. Obviously, that religion is bonkers and I'd never do something like that now.

100 precent right. That's how it worked with my ex husband. Prefect until I couldn't get an annulment then the mask slipped off.

Ladies if you are already doing everything alone plus taking care of a man on the side, it's easier to be alone.

This is a bit of a sad story, but a woman I knew was highly successful was in the top of her field, had been in Forbes ect. She was more successful than her husband and he gained his career through her. Anyways, he cheated on her many times through the years and obviously gave sugar daddy vibes to hot early 20's women when he was in his mid 50's. She caught him over half a dozen times, and I know she wanted to leave many times and she never did. Sad part is they only had male children, and they …

It's really sad, but this works. As does a fake wedding ring ect. They don't respect you as a person, but they respect another man and that's when they back off.

There are offensive things about women all over reddit. Literally, just about any top page post there is going to be something offensive to women in the comments. That is the norm on reddit. It's sad, and makes me uncomfortable in this place. Hell even popular subs like jokes subreddit a lot of the jokes are still sexist jokes about women, and the gaming subreddit had posts about sexy women gamer characters in little clothing and which one is their favorite ect. It's all over reddit, and we wome…

It is! It was a sad case of marrying someone with NPD, he was mirroring me until six months of marriage then he quit his job and a switch flipped and the abuse started. It was the day after annulment was no longer possible. It's scary men can hide who they really are for an extended period of time. My present is great. I'm 5 years removed from the divorce and am utterly happy. I'm engaged to HVM and he's the best man I've ever met. I have a nice house, and a good career ect. Things are going ver…

When I got divorced I was told by mutuals how he was taken to the cleaners, I had taken his stuff ect. I was the sole breadwinner the entire marriage, so paid for everything for five years while he spent my money however he wanted, then I got half of my hard earned money back. He kept the house and everything in it, I walked away with the worst mattress in the house and basement couch and my clothes and dog (he didn't want the dog and I wouldn't have left her behind anyways). He kept two cats, a…

I agree that it should be an investment and be valued. However, I will say that a high price ring doesn't mean HVM, I don't think there is a correlation. I've often seen the opposite. HV comes from behavior. I will say that I do have a forever one mossinate engagement ring, which is the exact ring I asked for. I couldn't get past possibly getting a conflict diamond and ultimately ending up liking the higher refractive index of mossinate, and didn't think a lab grown diamond was worth it due to t…

I was once flew out to Boston for a date. Fancy dinners and exploring the city and all that. A car ran a red light when we were in the cross walk, he pushed me forward in front of the car to propel himself backwards from not being hit. The car stopped near inches from hitting me. I never talked to the dude again after flying home.

5'9" is average for men fyi. So he was below average. In case anyone is curious 5'4" is average for women.

I had a boss that was shorter than me. He was clearly 5'4" on his driver's license it said he was 5'10". He also wore cowboy boots all the time because it gave him a two inch lift.

Sure! It was literally any major process he was correct. Having to serve more divorce papers: therapist: he's going to try not to sign and hold over you. Exactly what he did. Therapist: he's not going to let you get all your stuff out of the house, and is going to try to hold it over you for leverage. Exactly what he did and I walked away from stuff because I didn't think any possession was worth going threw more abuse. Therapist: you need to move out as soon as possible, I promise he will be tr…

I actually was contemplating divorce and went to a therapist for transition, he figured out my husband had NPD and was the first time I realized he was extremely abusive. Ironically, it was the therapist I picked out for my husband to work on his issues and treating me a lot better, that he refused to go to. I went ahead with the divorce blocked him on everything as soon as I could (when the divorce was far enough along I didn't have to communicate anything and handed everything to my lawyer). M…

There are absolutely fake feminists. My abusive ex husband is one of them. He makes it a large part of his persona and social media posts. Doesn't have and has never had a single female friend though. I think in depth stuff about feminism he wouldn't be able to hold up to, but on the surface it's quite terrifying he could reel someone in that way.

Copying my comment from further down: Yes! It is someone I know in real life. I almost asked but, then realized it would out me for this post 😂 honestly my best guess given where he proposed (outside a small town on a gravel road in his car), I think its a twisted up paper straw wrapper and a pebble from the gravel road. Probably attached the pebble to the straw wrapper with super glue (which explains how it's sticking and the yellow tinge). When I knew him in real life and spent time with him r…

Just did a bit of digging as well. The cow thing makes me so mad. So buying a whole cow today would be about 3,000 per cow (not including meat processing costs). Eight cows would be the equivalent of about 24,000. So telling her she's worth 8 cows would be spending about 24,000 on a ring. She got told she is worth 8 cows in a proposal, and got a napkin booger ring and 8 plastic cows. Even if she did get a 24,000 ring I'd still be mad her proposal was: here's 8 plastic mini cows you are worth 8 c…

Nope. I had the same thought, and now I'm just fuming for this poor girl. The whole plastic 8 cows proposal, women can be bought with cows and she's worth eight cows has me absolutely fuming. That combined with this ring, this had to be the worst proposal to ever exist.

Exactly! I feel the same way. Honestly you can buy a decent non diamond ring on etsy for a few hundred. And she got this. It's not even about the price tag for me at this point its the level of effort. I'm honestly shocked this is real.

If you are getting a proposal with some weird ring that looks like this (probably made from from napkin and pebble at best), this proposal was not thought out, and you are being told you are not worth the effort to plan or the money. Nothing but an impulse, from a man in his literal 40's, for a relationship that just hit a year. Happily accepting this you are setting the standard that this is the type of treatment you will accept in your life. Extra cringe bonus points for using the reference of…

You can also always figure out someone's sexuality that way as well. It works extremely well on anyone mid 20's and below. They get a bit more subtle with age, but you can still figure it out.

I'm not sure if this is a lot of help. But I figured out a short term college boyfriend was a porn addict by watching where his eyes went. It was always to every butt or chest we walked by or were around. Including my roommates or friends. For some reason no one else noticed. He also laughed uncontrollably whenever he watched anime and it had the anime boob jiggle. Everytime. When he told me he struggled with porn two months in my response was "I know". I dated him short term due to a massive am…

I once was on the phone with a old guy friend from high school while I was in college. I realized he was driving and I asked that he call me back later to be safe (he didn't have hands free). He argued that he was fine, and I told him I wasn't comfortable with it. He rear ended the car in front of him while I was literally saying I was going to go because I didn't feel comfortable. He totaled his truck.

Also keep an eye out on controlling the temperature and music. For example my abusive ex husband after we were married (he switched on me once we were legally married), would insist on controlling the music and temperature when he was driving. Even if I was freezing and he was listening to starwars soundtracks again, the bug red flag is that if I was driving I wasn't allowed to control the music or temperature then either.

I once had a male boss that was 5'3" he said he was 5'9" and even had it on his driver's license as such. I'm 5'7" and towered over him when I wasn't wearing heels. Men lie about their height all the time, the ones that do can often have short man's syndrome in other parts of their life as well.

I had a male personal trainer for a couple sessions (small town one, one gym, no other options). He looked at my ass the entire time and had me do exercises I expressed no interest in, I just wanted a back exercises for a small gym with no back machines. I was somehow doing a massive amount of kettle bell hip thrusts. I was supposed to get two free sessions after, I forfeited them. I also got creepy comments from him after I lost weight from going off of my IUD.

Looking back I was one of the only girls in my AP high school classes too. I didn't really give it much thought until now. The more they talked the more I realized my high school was racially segregated, I just didn't realize it at the time.
