I wish all the disagreements in the world could have such a civil conversation. Back on the road, I would not count on the cop letting you go, but I'd say if you stated it was accidental and you were unware of the actual speed limit, the cop very well might let you off. 2	5 miles above the speed limit On the race car driver speeding: Would I call the cops, no. But, it is illegal. Is it safe? Maybe. I've actually had the chance to talk to several race car drivers, and they will tell you, their safety is more dependent on the driving skills of the OTHER drivers than their own. There are no idiots on a race track that will pull out in front of you or slam on the breaks to look at a seagull on the side of the road.
