Television and movies very, very rarely show healthy relationships. If one shows up in a show you know one of them is either going to die or get cancer by the end of the season. Bad relationships create drama and drama is interesting.

Anyone who uses Love Languages to manipulate is a giant douche. it's a great book with a great message that is very easily manipulated by narcissists. It's very sad. :( You're supposed to use it to understand yourself better and recognize love that's offered to you by others. Not hold it over someone else's head or judge their love as not good enough.

I actually liked The Five Love Languages. I found it helpful to understand myself better and to see the love that was being offered in my relationships. However, that book is used as a weapon in relationships way too often. Women use it just as often as men as a way to manipulate their partners and I hate it. The issue with those studies that say “men are wired this way and women are wired that way” is that there are also studies that have proven that we wire our own brains. This is why my husband chooses not to watch live sports very often. He hates the way it makes him feel. He says it's not good to feel so much negative emotion over something that doesn't matter at all. He's right. It's ridiculous.
