I never thought about that going both ways. When I read NMMNG I only thought anout it when I gave her covert contracts, often with disastrous results.

I must say that I actually agree with you on that. Mate appeasement and supplication doesn't work. It's not attractive. Socially speaking, it isn't healthy. I am often asked how to deal with guys like your dad in that example, and the best I have done is to kind of make a joke or a game about it. I never had a problem paying for the first date. But if I decided on another, I always ended the first saying something along the lines of, "So where are you taking me next week?" It worked pretty well.
