I'm the same way with physical attraction. I obviously know if someone is objectively good looking, but that means very little in my actual physical attraction to them. It's like their personality can completely change what they look like to me, it's kinda crazy.

And yes, not your job to help them justify the actions they know are wrong. They're looking for "permission" from you, it's exactly what you said, loser behavior all around. Ya, again, good on you for taking inventory of your own choices and recognizing the actions of others that don't align with yours. It's honestly not easy to do.

Good for you for recognizing it. And calling a man "committed" when they do things like this is apologist for exactly the type of behavior we are against in this sub in my opinion.

Agreed. In my opinion, complaining about your marriage and trying to have affairs (per the OP) isn't the effort I'm talking about. Which begs the question, how uncomfortable are they really. Not masculine behavior at all.

If we aren't uncomfortable enough to warrant the effort it takes to change our situation, we won't.

Yes, and there are so many things you can do to make sex great, if you have someone who genuinely wants you to feel good and is willing to put effort into making that happen - you will probably have a satisfying sex life.

Good luck, I hope everything goes great. He sounds like an otherwise awesome person who really cares about you. Whatever you do, do it with love and it'll work out 💕 I'm glad too, because lord knows, it's so hard to see the bigger picture in these situations. And I'd be afraid if this line was crossed, the dam would break and it would teach him that boundaries are optional with you.

If this goes any further in the wrong direction, we are looking at criminal charges. And the penal system doesn't care what kind of mood he was in, he would be taken away. That would really suck for everyone. Remember, his feelings and actions are HIS responsibility. You can support him, but he is the one that needs to do something about it. I really urge you to get it in your own head, and his, that this is a non-negotiable boundary and you will leave the relationship. Do not let anyone tell yo…

No not at this point. It's clearly coming between you. Just because he has an issue that isn't his fault, doesn't mean he isn't responsible for doing something about it. He is going to FEEL BETTER if he gets help from someone who knows how to do it. And that takes 8+ years of a specialized degree. So no, it's not fair for him to expect you to "figure it out". That's what doctors are for. And neither of you need to bear the full weight of it. Edit: I just read a little more and see that he's alre…

It sounds like a supportive thing would be to tell him he needs to get professional help and figure out how to communicate his needs better. Being firm about it when he is not in the throes of an episode is important. I know it's difficult to bring up when you're in a good place, but that's the only time it's going to get through to him so he can actually take action. That is support. Being firm with our own boundaries (I.e. you need to see someone who can properly treat you because it's more th…

I think "attractiveness" is a very different thing for men and women (or maybe not). But you can be handsome/beautiful and very unattractive. Saying "you're dating people you aren't attracted to" is kind of silly - I think you mean "you're dating people I am not attracted to". Or maybe "I don't understand why you are attracted to that person" is better. Most of the time attractiveness is unquantifiable. It's a mix of a lot of different things, how your face and body looks is a small part of that…

These things aren't on a spectrum. Like, being traditional has nothing to do with misogyny.

My two cents - you can't force him to care about the piece of paper or the wedding day. He's a man, they're pragmatic, to a fault sometimes, so the ceremonial part of it can be hard for them to get behind. From his point of view, he is already fully committed to you, so why spend the time and money? I do get that. So bring it up, tell him all the things you said here and how much it means to you and that you want him to propose and be married within the next 18 months. He already said he'd do it…

You could find a way to bring up a situation where someone else is doing that and say something like "I'm so glad you aren't one of those guys who messages random girls on the internet. How sad and tacky, I'd be so embarrassed."

Why does he want you to have a job?

why does he want you to have a job? If he can't afford to have you not work full time, can he at least afford a house keeper/weekly chef so you can do the fun part (happy wife, intimacy?) It seems super imbalanced. I don't think this falls ALL on you. You're already tapped out. He can maybe get a raise? Or a higher paying job? Maybe focus your energy on encouraging him in that direction. This is tricky! And the essence of RPW. No amount of self care can make up for complete burnout. Those are la…

Maybe try to empathize with them. Find some common ground. This is a life skill. To get along with others, to tailor your communication style to be the most effective. First thing I would suggest is to catch yourself when you're calling them "heinous". Because really, you too are talking unkindly behind their backs and clearly they can sense the nasty way you feel about them. Release that hate from your heart and try to see them as imperfect, but divine beings like yourself.

woman=singular. women=plural. I'm sorry the only people who really mess this up are man (oops I mean men). You don't need to snoop on his devices to know what you already know in your heart.

You seem like a truly fascinating individual! I think there are a lot of guys that would love to get to know you if you'd allow them. Your feminine energy is shining through via the vulnerability in your post. Keep doing what you're doing, and remember you're a gorgeous gorgeous girl through and through.

I agree. You can't force anyone to do anything (i.e.. be monogamous, stay in a relationship, etc.), but you can, and should, advocate for your own wants/needs. Self respect and maintaining standards that are important to you is just a good look, plain and simple. Plus, I think that 80/20 thing is something guys tell each other to hype each other up when they get the urge to settle down with the first girl that shows them attention. This isn't healthy for anyone to do, man, woman, regardless. I t…
