Dude, no. A friend of my father's is currently getting fucked out of spending time with his daughter. They have a great relationship, he has a stable job and a home, no criminal record, literally everything you just said. Yet he hasn't seen his daughter in over a month and despite having a job, can't afford a family lawyer. He even started a gofundme page so he can maybe at some point afford a lawyer. He doesn't even want to fight for full custody, just the garuntee to be able to see his kid on …

it will come to a head and all the rational people will have to create a new movement not defined by the label of men's rights or women's rights, but simply equal rights without any bias inherent in the name of the movement itself This is the ideal. This is what I truly hope is the future of the MRM. However, I don't see it happening any time soon due to the way both movements regard each other.

Oh totally, I don't disagree with that at all. The problem I have is that this is supposed to be a group of people concerned with men's issues, yet this sub really seems to not actually care about men's issues and care way more about being a group of anti-feminists. Not to imply being anti-feminist is bad necessarily, because I'm definitely not pro-feminism, but it just seems like nobody actually gets the fucking point. Men's rights is becoming synonymous with anti-feminism, which is just wrong.…

What in the absolute fuck does that have to do with this particular conversation?

Except from where I'm sitting, the thing this sub does most is just rail on feminists. Rarely does anybody talk about men's issues anymore. They aren't mutually exclusive, you're right, but as an avid reader of this sub, I'm pretty tired of posts that are "a feminist said something dumb" and "a woman did something bad and was not punished" Those aren't men's rights issues.

all you're doing is concern trolling So being concerned about how a movement I believe in is perceived is trolling. Got it.

And what? Let the childish antics of some people that believe something differently dictate the entire attitude of the movement? Yeah, those people are major shitheels that fucked up a harmless gathering, but does that mean that the men's rights movement should sit around and complain about feminists or should it continue to hold conferences about men's rights anyway? I mean, this is the men's rights movement, not the "look at what an asshole did" movement.

No need to go all Orwellian and love Big Brother, but the best way to fight trolls is to simply ignore them. Instead of scouring the internet for dumb shit that feminist said that one time to post here and ridicule, just ignore that shit. Its a waste of time to point it out and does nothing for the cause other than make us all look like total assholes. I know I'm not an asshole, and I believe the MRM has the capacity to do some real good, yet lately all I see is people whining about feminists an…

Because if you want men's issues to be taken seriously, you probably shouldn't spend your time pointing fingers at feminists and yelling about how dumb they are and actually, y'know, focus on men's issues. Don't feed the trolls and all that.

I don't agree with this. Yes, feminism deserves criticism. No, feminism is not synonymous with gender equality. However, most people believe that second part to be true, as they have been culturally indoctrinated to since feminism became mainstream. Since that's the case, in my opinion, the reason the MRM gets such a bad rep is because its so critical of feminism. The average person that just takes feminism at face value is going to see that as "The MRM hates feminism and therefore hates gender …

That's not the point though. Of course there are no winners in death. The point is, things like therapy and anti-depressants and the like exist now. People who suffer great loss can recover from their loss. There's no cure for death.

The majority has no way to speak against the radicals, because they don't have a cohesive infrastructure. You're right about the infrastructure thing. It's not like the CEO of feminism can ban groups like FEMEN from using the label, but your everyday non-batshit feminists can denounce FEMEN en masse, but it doesn't happen. You don't need to have some sort of leadership hierarchy to call out these radicals as being forces for negativity and hostility. Instead you have a bunch of complacent femini…

The whole "no-true-feminist" argument is true This is what bothers me so much about the current state of feminism. You'd think that your everyday feminist would see the shit that these misandrist zealots talk about and totally shun them. You'd think that maybe they'd make some sort of effort to quiet them so that the label feminism doesn't get sullied by nutjobs. You'd think that they'd say "Whoa, look what's happened to my movement. This sucks. I don't want to be a part of this thing anymore." …

To be fair, on your point about circumcision, whenever people start arguing against circumcision the most common argument is that "FGM is outlawed, why is circumcision standard?" so it's not like people run into the conversation to bring up FGM when it hasn't already been brought up.

According to who? Your circle of friends? Many feminist organizations have done a lot of things that actively harm men. That makes it not about equality, but increasing the quality of life for women. I'm all for advancement of women's rights, but let's not kid ourselves and say that feminism is inherently about equality when there exists much feminist backed legislature that actively harms men. That's automatically unequal.

That's just it though, the whole idea is that men are socially rewarded for being promiscuous but women are put down for it. That's why the term slut shaming exists. They're owning the term used to stifle women's sexuality. There shouldn't be anything wrong with that.

Have you ever had kidney stones?
/r/MensRights12/08/13 12:35 AM

I've broken femurs multiple times. Once, my femur was at an 80 degree angle. I'd rather have that happen again than pass another kidney stone. I've also heard many, and I mean many, women say the same thing in regard to childbirth. Most people would rather have some other form of extreme pain than deal with kidney stone pain. If you had ever passed a stone, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

The interesting part of this is that I've heard feminists try to spin these statistics to fry and make suicide seem like a female issue, however men are far more likely to actually succeed in killing themselves. So if we look at suicide as a gender issue, which we probably shouldn't since everyone deserves an equal amount of help with their mental issues, men are the ones who truly need help here.

I've actually thought about this before. I feel like if that were to become a thing, since so many MRAs are vehemently anti feminist, that the campaign would be exactly what this sub usually is. "I NEED MEN'S RIGHTS BECAUSE...BECAUSE FEMINISTS ARE BIG JERK HEADS."

This reminds me of something that happened to me awhile ago. This was a little while before I got deep into the MRM, otherwise I would have pointed him in the direction of this sub. My girlfriend at the time was applying for a job at my local airport. I was sitting patiently outside, chainsmoking her cigarettes. I didn't know how long she was going to take, so I decided to chat up my fellow smokers in our little smoking corral. I wound up talking to this guy with a busted up nose. General killin…

I agree with everything you said about rape being about sexual desire overcoming restraint. However I think there's a bit of a logical contradiction to that theory in the case of prison rape. As far as I understand, you are right, the most common cases of prison rape are the stronger inmates raping the weak. My thought is, isn't that an exercise in power over the weak inmates? I mean, aren't most of those rapists straight? They wouldn't have sexual desire for the men they are raping, so why are …

I'd like to see the study that shows that 98% of rapists are male. I'm assuming that this study counts what MRAs fight (alcohol induced sex that the female regrets, claiming rape) as rape and adds to the bullshit statistics. I think its very safe to assume that if we look at rape statistics that are strictly about what we as a society normally consider to be rape; no verbal consent to sexual intercourse, but forcing intercourse either through coercion or physical force, the statistics are very V…

As a white male with a crippling physical disability rendering me unable to walk, incapable of performing simple tasks for myself such as using an oven etc, I go into a blinding rage every time I see anyone say "check your privilege" under any circumstance. Or you could just go the Iceland route and jail your bankers and CEOs. Their economy is one of the fastest rising economies right now and they were on the verge of utter collapse in 2008. The reason violence sounds attractive is because it's a fast way to get your message across and it appeases your emotional reaction to problems. However it's not the best solution to anything. I'm in Portland. However I'm not much into AVFM. Perhaps we could have a poster campaign that points in the direction of this subreddit instead? Also, with how populated by genderqueer radfems this town is, I'm not so sure any MRA campaign would do much more than fall flat. But fuck it. I'm in.

So you're saying that using a condom to not impregnate a woman is pandering? Are you fucking retarded? And you put men down by saying they have a "mangina" as if having a vagina somehow makes you inferior to someone with a dick. You really are the exact reason hardly any women take the MRM seriously. No, the kind that puts down men for not being their alpha male gender stereotype. OP, you're a dingus. The pullout method is highly risky. No matter how in control you are, sometimes orgasms sneak up on you. And you can't control precum, which contains sperm. You're going to get somebody pregnant someday. I'll probably ne downvoted onto oblivion too, but I don't understand the downvotes this guy is getting. MGTOW types do tend to be misogynistic and blame women specifically for their problems. The issue is that these people give MRAs a bad name since they are self labled MRAs. It's the same thing as radfems giving the rest of feminists a bad name. I'm an MRA. I know a lot of feminists.
