huh? i never was in the bundeswehr myself, but friends of mine were and some of them had long hair. they were not forced to shave it off, but had to wear some sort of hair net iirc. they had to shave their face however. this happened 8 or 9 years ago, but i am positive they kept their long hair during that time and cracked jokes about the stupid hair net.

that is not the point here, it would have been a different thing if he explained to her, that he didn't want to buy an expensive ring because he thinks it is a hollow, materialistic gesture and proposed to her with the cheap ring but in a heartfelt way. the woman did not feel valued and i think she is right.

the fact, that 63% of the students at my university are female, yet there still is a womens counselor, -representative and a women-only meeting, on top of a women center and countless "women only" events, courses etc and nothing like any of this for men. men are the crass minority at my university and get excluded from so many things, it is infuriating.
