Great advice, I've done this on other areas of my thinking, my negative self-talk used to be really bad but by being mindful of it and rephrasing things in constructive and kind ways I've been able to adjust my thinking. It takes effort and doesn't happen overnight (like years) but slowly you will notice that negative thought patterns that used to be common no longer exist.

One of the best pieces of advice given in this sub

In a word "confidence". We don't often attribute children as confident because they are sheltered from all the sources that are judging them. We become more aware of that as we get older. Some of us change our behavior to fall in line, others do not. My definition of confidence, and there are many, "Not being afraid to fail". My other take on confidence: without humility it is just bluster. Just walking around ultra-confident or pretending will come off as being a blow-hard to most people if you…

No one is coming to save you, not a man, woman, partner, mentor, whatever. You have to be your own hero. Get rid of your negative self talk, treat yourself like you would a dear friend, be kind and patient and be constructive with yourself. Focusing on your short comings in a non-constructive way is destructive. Be honest, work on your faults and appreciate your strengths but those aren't what define you as person. Women are attracted to people that are confident, happy and fun. If you don't fee…

I can totally relate to that!

Definitely not an expert but had some shitty women in my life in the past year. My take-aways are: Don't ignore red flags... If you are not great at attracting women (not unlike myself), when you find one, you'll have a scarcity attitude and overlook bad traits because... hey I'm having sex! Take it slow, don't jump into things, even if you start dating someone and aren't dating anyone else, keep doing all the things you want to do if you weren't dating anyone. This will give you time to see the…

Had a girl bail on me because I gave her my Google voice number instead of my real cell number. That's the number I give to my friends so I know it's someone important calling and not a marketer. shrug oh well, glad to not invest anymore time in someone that is that fickle, moving on!

Read Sex at Dawn, it goes into a lot of detail about how sex has been commodified since the advent of agriculture and compares what sexual relations look like in a lot of hunter gather tribes that still exist. When women are treated as equals, not looked down on for sleeping with whoever they want and have control over their own destinies, you'll find much more sexually liberal societies.

Thanks for all the posts here guys! This has also been a weakness of mine. I have a much better understanding of how to use text now. In some ways I already to exactly the right thing when I'm feeling confident with a girl or am not heavily invested.

Great tips! I think I also discovered that at least with Bumble, if you do a complete bio make-over (pics specifically) it will shuffle you near the top of the list, which can be a great way to get some matches in a hurry, especially if you are travelling and in an area a short time.

'Don't ask women for advice on how to date them'. That was pretty much the conclusion I came to instantly. I think I originally created the equivalent of a 'nice guy' profile. My female friend put it to me like this, the only matches you make are looking for something serious because that's the vibe you are putting out there.

no worries, thanks for the reply! Sounds like a skill you've naturally developed all your life! I feel like George Costanza in most of my conversations, always thinking of the perfect thing about 10 minutes later haha

Would love to hear any tips on text game. I really struggle to make an emotional connection online. I think it's being raised ultra-polite Canadian that makes me a tad boring when not in person.

Just wanted to elaborate a few things. First congrats on your success on Tinder, I definitely use all sorts of dating apps but struggle to make them work for me. In contrast I've been heading out to various social events lately, shows, beach parties, climbing gyms, etc, and been meeting girls so easily and getting more numbers than I know what to do with. I'm actually so busy that it's hard for me to find time for dates and I don't pretend to have any great seduction skills beyond just being fri…

Would be interested in hearing about your script, my text game is garbage. I'm much better in person for whatever reason. I think I'm way too polite/ boring and really struggle to make an emotional connection.

Thanks guys, seems like there is a pretty strong consensus here which agrees with my gut feeling. I'll play it cool and work on showing her rather than telling her. I really appreciate this sub and all the feedback that is given seems pretty solid.

Not a nightmare, lots of cool people here. I think the actual biggest issue for LA is how sprawling it is, you might connect with a girl that could be 30-35 minutes away and with bad traffic even further. It makes it hard to implement these 'casual' events that are talked about here. Feels like a lost opportunity to not at least try though. I still have a lot to learn so even difficult situations I take as an opportunity to try a different approach and see how it works out.

o you do it if you want to ask her out on a date particularly? This makes a world of sense to me. Only catch for me is LA is so sprawling sometimes I'll connect with a girl that's just a bit too far away for something super casual. I have dogs so sometimes I'll just be like "Hey, I'm going to the park to walk my dogs, it would be cool if you came by". But when they are further away it takes a bit of planning and in my mind it makes sense to plan something a bit more dedicated.

LA guy, here and I find that girls I'm interested in are pretty busy and just in general people in this city have a million things planned. Most of the time I would get a "Sorry, I have such on such on that night". How would you follow up? Leave it in their court to supply times they are free? Try the same thing again on another date? Also how much advance notice will you give for such an invite? Seems like day-of invites are doomed for failure, but 1-2 days might be ideal so that other plans wo…
