If anything, reading their responses have just convinced me more of their ridiculous mental gymnastics (what they would refer to as "hamstering", I suppose) and complete and total disconect from reality.... so yes? I feel more blue pill every time I talk to a red pill.

We don't handle crimes in accordance to how hard someone's life has been, though. I'm not sure what you mean by "what if the way we treated them perpetuated the cycle", do you mean how we treat the original case in which a child was abused, or the second case in which that child grows up to do the same thing? Or do you mean the new victim? I only mentioned the clothing thing again because I still don't understand why it's not wrong to you to say that someone should not be shocked if they were ra…

Rape is messed up in general. But I stand by my statement - it should be treated the same regardless of what the victim was wearing. It's not a paradox when we were blaming someone for a rape that they indeed committed. They are no longer the victim in that situation, they are the victim in the previous one where they were abused. If we blamed them for being abused/raped when they were a child, THEN we are blaming the victim. I don't see it as a paradox because it is two separate situations rath…

Popular girls can be psychologically vulnerable, too. But I really meant that the rapist would target someone he considered to be good-looking or mistakenly thought was flirting with him. Really, rape can happen to anybody, and happens to all kinds of women. And like many others have said, the whole lone girl walking down a dark alley thing isn't how it usually goes - most rape and sexual assault crimes were committed by someone the victim knew. I don't think SlutWalks are made up of emo kids, e…

It's pretty messed up to ever say that someone shouldn't be surprised that they've gotten raped or assaulted. It's never anyone's fault but the rapist. What the victim is wearing never makes it more or less okay. Of course the rapist doesn't care, of course they'll target women they consider to be good-looking or cheeky, but women shouldn't have to dress like a nun to avoid getting raped. As for the male rapists being victims of child abuse - two wrongs do not make a right. It's still their faul…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
