As a woman you are praised when you demonstrate even basic competency as a new worker because the expectations for women in my field are low. I work on the technical side of the entertainment industry and it is common for men to hire women who they are related to, dating, or want to sleep with. And if these women do not succeed in their jobs because they lacked the prerequisite education or experience then their failure is held up as an example of why women shouldn't be hired.
