Absolutely. People can change, and people won't always uphold their vows.

Vows are simple, life is complex. Wouldn't expect you to understand. (On a sidenote, vows mean something to me. I've always upheld my vows. Does not mean that there are situations where divorce is the right choice for someone).

Where did I say you were responsible for her happiness? There are tons of situations where the dynamic is just flawed, or where people are cruel to their partners. Look beyond yourself.

Bored, or depressed and miserable? Ideally life should be good.

No one can know that beforehand. Life isn't that simple. They also married at 20(!), their brains weren't even fully developed.

How is she hostile? You shouldn't have to stay with someone you have fallen out of love with - she has done so for 10 years, all kudos to her for giving it an effort for so long (as long as she was honest about it those years). People change, and that's ok. The only thing that looks iffy to me is the financial agreement. Since she's the one wanting to leave, imo she shouldn't get such a lucrative deal.

I was obviously talking about in general, since you referred to marital vows as something holy that should never be broken. I'm saying they can be, and sometimes that's for the better.

It is for many. Many people marry way too young. I know several people whose lives got better after getting a divorce.

So if a person cheats on you consistently, is hell to live with, hurts your children, and things are beyond bad you should still stay with them?

So you should stay with someone no matter what? Getting a divorce is perfectly fine in this situation, like OP says there hasn't been any feelings the last 10 years, and their kids are grownups.

Of course it is, but in some religious sects in smaller cities it is known to happen.

I had no problem at all getting dates as a father. Tons of girls found it attractive even.

It's true though. I kissed another girl whilst married a decade ago, felt insanely bad about it and regretted it instantly. Told my wife back then about it when I got home, and have never done anything like it again.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
