This comes from years worth of patterns I've noticed. When I show up into a circle of guys, the ones that are bigger than me (I'm 5'7"/170lbs) will typically try to be dominant over me, "power check" me, etc.; especially when there are women involved. I'm a pretty level-headed guy and I'm secure in my ability to defend myself so my normal reaction is to brush them off because I have a good idea of what would happen if it came down to competing wills. When guys figure me out, normally their attit…

I've been doing BJJ/MMA myself for 15 years, too, and I plan to do a write-up sometime in the future. BJJ/MMA/<Insert Martial Art high degree of street application here> is a good supplement when it comes to establishing the pecking order among a group of guys. Not a subject that is necessarily in line with this article, but very noteworthy nonetheless. A lot of times you don't even have to try; guys will auto-defer to you.

Telling her you "want nothing to do with her," to me, kind of confirms to her that you're hurt with the way she's treating you, which you are, but you want to give her the impression that you don't give a shit. I would probably have just said something along the lines of "what we're doing is silly, and I'm not going to do it anymore. Do what you gotta do with the other guy, but don't expect me to blah blah blah. I'm going to talk to other people." You're not giving her an ultimatum, you're just …

Tell yourself "fuck it." It's already on the table. You both know you're into each other so there's no reason you have to try hard. Tell yourself "she wants me so this isn't even going to be hard." Stop worrying about trying to impress her. Go in with the mindset that you're curious about her; like you want to get to know her (and you should want to). Ask her questions. You'll probably pick up that she's kind of nervous, which will make you more confident. When you feel your comfortable, then st…

Where are you from? See if your area has a subreddit, join it and see if they have meet-ups. That's an option. You can't get a job as a busser or waiter? Keep pushing, man!

"Sounds" like she's into you now. The only thing to do is be up front with her like previously said. She's going to get pissed; it's almost unavoidable. But as long as you're straight forward with her from now on out, she'll eventually get over it and you guys can get back to just being friends, but there will probably always be some degree of weirdness. There's no short cut for things like this. If someone knows one, please, tell me. I had this same issue with a girl. She was a very close frien…

Agreed. The attraction piece is what would make this work. IMO.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
