You're making broad generalizations about all women based on your experience, we're making broad generations about men based on our experience. I don't see the problem.

You're absolutely right. But women are divorcing men for "no reason" all over the place! /s

You bring up good points about women not wanting to repeat themselves because men have repeatedly shown it falls on deaf ears. That's likely a much bigger contributor to the things OP is complaining about than fear. Or women could be bringing things up in ways that men (intentionally or not) don't realize are serious matters to them. I think OPs problem is just as much about men (him) being receptive to the things women (his past gfs) are saying prior to the blow up.

While that is true, it doesn't explain the difficulty in trusted relationships. Talk about things is clearly better than letting them fester and turn into arguments but it is still challenging for many women to talk to their partner who have never shown any signs of violent outbursts.

That was a wild ride. The sexist discrimination that happens in these cases needs to be stopped. Things like this need to be highlighted more so we can fix the broken system.

Loneliness and sex are not synonymous. Incels are lonely all around, lack of sex is only part of it and I would argue not even the main part.

Because men won't allow it to be equal... Women have been trying to rectify the situation, but men won't let it happen. You're complaining about a situation you're also perpetuating. Why fix the problem when it's so much better to use it as a talking point.

1973 you say, hmm. Before they had to legally enforce that banks allow women to open lines of credit at all. Interesting... Do you have any wise words on women not being allowed to own property?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/01/24 02:18 AM

In the US, prior to the Equal Credit Opportunity Act in 1974 women were routinely refused credit accounts without a male cosigner.

Ah yes, all those peaky laws preventing women from owning property, opening credit cards and such are just nonsense. Clearly they didn't mean anything and women have had the same rights as men since.... Checks notes...... The fall of Rome.....

It has been proposed several times for women to sign up for selective service since 1980. Each time it has been shot down mostly by MEN. You all love to use this as a talking point. But Men are the reason women don't have to sign up. This coming from a woman actively serving in the military. .

If you kill someone who is trying to kill you the result is the same of one dead person. But the person who lived (you) doesn't historically assault people while the person who died was trying to kill someone.... Killing in self defense results in less violence overall.

If we split up I would absolutely be okay with paying him alimony. He's sacrificing his career to support our family and would deserve repayment for that. In all likelihood I would probably get custody of our children but in the event that didn't happen, I would have no issue providing monetarily for their well-being. They're my kids of course I would want t support them however I can.

You're telling on yourself in how you view people. Stay at home parents are just as valuable as their working counterparts. The fact that you can't separate the value of a person from their monetary contribution is a you problem. To break it down for you, stay at home parents provide: childcare, cooking, cleaning, financial management, planning, emotional support, and much more. Look at how much you would have to pay for all those services separately if you want to put a dollar amount on how muc…

There can absolutely be incentive involved with consent, as long as there are other options and everything is transparent to all parties. If it didn't work that way than anything you received money or goods for wouldn't be a mutual transaction. Consent applies to way more than just sex.

Posts like this are so amusing. I am a woman and I am the sole breadwinner in my marriage. My husband does not work at all. I understand our dynamic is the exception to how things go. If I we are able to have an equal partnership and contribute to the relationship/household equally with no resentment or power plays, why the hell is it so hard for men in my position to do the same? We have two children, it's ideal for one adult to stay home and raise them while the other works. Raising children a…

It sounds as though you're not compatible with women on social media. Maybe find someone you're compatible with rather than trying to change someone to suit your wants.

It would be even more interesting to see if the question even used the word "cheating." It could have been praised "are sexual encounters outside of a marriage wrong?" or "are relationships outside of a marriage always wrong?" Either of those could result in more people saying no. Words change it all.

I disagree with most blanket statements on principle. When I personally see those relationships being called out there's almost always another component at play other than age. For me, gender/ages of the individuals doesn't matter nearly as much as the power dynamic. Power dynamics are harder to decipher and not as straight forward as having an age gap cut off point so people like to make it simple and just use age.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/23 07:09 PM
3

Typically when relationships between drastically different aged individuals are called out as inappropriate there is some sort of financial/social abuse going on. I haven't seen anyone condemn age gaps for flings. LTRs though have the potential for a vastly different power dynamic where one party has the financial power over the other and uses it inappropriately. Or they manipulate their younger partner into behaving certain ways. It sounds like you avoided those situations, but you can't take y…

Rape wasn't specifically mentioned. But taking away the free will of women absolutely was. And from your post it would be reasonable to guess that you think it's a wife's responsibility to have sex with her husband even if she doesn't want to. Which amounts to marital rape.

I'm a woman in the military, I get doing the dangerous job .... My husband is a man who doesn't dehumanize himself or others, they exist. I'm not required to risk getting "bit" by the man who can't control himself because of past situations. Fact is, men have more agency then dogs. They have resources and dogs don't. I can't stand when men are compared to dogs. Men aren't animals and are more accountable than any dog ever will be. If men are traumatized by society they need to talk about it with…

I can see this, but feminism started with women. There isn't an equivalent for men. Personally I think we should all be helping each other be better humans and have better lives, but that can be difficult or even dangerous to execute. I hear often often that men aren't complimented as much as women and often just need a smile to feel accepted. Yet when I smile or compliment a man he typically approaches me as if I'm hitting on him and he expects things from me at that point. I don't feel safe en…

Women have been dehumanized to being an incubator and vacuum for many years. Women helped other women get out of it. That's why it seems we're obsessed with freedom and agency. I realize men as a whole need assistance with emotional skills, but they aren't advocating for that as much as they are complaining. I haven't met many men who want assistance in that area. I have met men who take a smile and nice word to mean I want to fuck them. Which is why most women aren't comfortable assisting men w…

I second this. Women fought hard to be ALLOWED to be non traditional. Men haven't put any effort into being accepted as non traditional. From reading this thread, it seems like that's mostly due to the want for sex. Women's priorities are agency and freedom, men's priorities seem to only be sex.

This is illustrated by my ex husband. He told me he wanted a divorce. A week later I gave him the divorce documents to review. He was so shocked and upset he had to take time off work when I did. Legally I initiated the divorce, that's because he wanted a divorce, but didn't want to do the work, or maybe didn't understand that to me saying those words is a right now thing.

If it's there term you dislike, take it up with OP. Mental workload is often used when referring to relationships and is a better descriptor of the issue imo. Regarding the concept of relationships not having balance, a lot of relationships are unbalanced as a whole. There's nothing wrong with a person who puts in a lot of effort being frustrated with their significant other doesn't appear to. Relationships should be 100/100. Most are somewhere around 50/75 with the 75 person being frustrated wi…

Then by your definition, many men "don't care anymore and are checked out" This is where communication comes into play, both men and women need to be able to communicate about what their needs are and what support they need. But time and time again when women complain about emotional labor or mental load they've already spoken to their spouse and were brushed off. The initial post was that men have their emotional labor as well and there is no doubt about that. This specific thread was asking fo…

Another poster shared this comic that illustrates it well. The mental load of a lot of things can be shared, but often times one party has the full burden. Most often that party is the woman. https://english.emmaclit.com/2017/05/20/you-shouldve-asked/

I feel like this stems from a very young age. Society tells you g boys to "man up" all the time, but young girls are told to talk about their feelings. Consequently, women lean on friends and receive validation while men don't give or receive validation as often. Women give and receive small amounts of validation from all over, men expect to receive large amounts from one person. we're speaking different languages of validation.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/07/22 08:11 PM

This absolutely. This isn't a gendered thing, it's an asshole thing. And possibly a communication thing. If you are feeling underappreciated by your partner you should be able to talk with them about why. If they scoff or say suck it, they're not a good partner.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/07/22 08:07 PM

If you are going to socialize or cooperate with other human beings that mental load should be shared. If only one person in a relationship is responsible for that mental load it leads to resentment.

Meals, groceries, doctors appointments, vet appointments, pet training. Those are all mandatory things. It is being an adult, but when the other adult that should be responsible for it doesn't help it's doing more labor than necessary. My son loves unwrapping things. He's not old enough to know the difference, but I know he loves tearing the paper off of things almost as much as the gift itself. My ex didn't care enough to know that. If you're going to use someones stuff, you need to replace it.…

It's not usually things like sending annual cards. But it is things like cleaning, wrapping/buying gifts for kids, planning meals, buying groceries, scheduling doctors appointments, vet appointments, extra curriculars, pet training. The list goes on. For example, I used to do all the gift wrapping and buying for my son's birthday and Christmas. The first year we were separated, my ex husband gave my son his gifts in a grocery bag. We make the same amount so it's not a finance thing. I also took …
