It's better than what you're going to get here.

Trust me when I say that putting any semblance of effort into your dating app profile as a man makes little to no difference for the majority. There’s too much competition for too few spots.

It's more common than you might think in a looks-based dating economy.

Despite in-group biases, many women are not as wonderful as you might think.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/06/26 05:35 PM

Both domains bleed into each other more and more today. Most people are dating via online platforms and dating apps than any other method.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/06/26 11:17 AM

Because dating and romance have become gamified industries?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/06/26 10:08 AM

Keep in mind that this is a survey of men who were recently sexually active. Given the declining rates of partnership and sexual activity among younger (and arguably less aggressive) men, it's not entirely surprising that the remnants of such a group are more liable to exercise such behaviors. I also want to note that these behaviors are not and should not be characterized as unique to men. I have been 'Gradually pushed verbally or physically until [a woman] got what [she] wanted' in the past se…

If you haven’t, give it a try. Talk to your roommates. Attend the social events. Have random chats with people you meet at a bar or café. It’s all there if you’re willing to break the ice. As a guy, I’ve never experienced what your post talks about. And I’m a seasoned traveler.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/26 09:29 PM

That is not true. I have helped men who were roofied before. I have warned both men and women of such a possibility regardless of gender because it happens to both genders.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/05/26 05:16 PM

Professional organizations focused on mentoring young men would be a good start. However, many of these were dismantled or fell out of favor whether it was due to fears of gendered power imbalances or sexist behaviors. While some of these concerns are justified, there is a serious lack of mentorship available to men nowadays that should be re-instituted.

It’s because emotional and psychological wounds are invisible. They are difficult to reveal. Mental abuse does not standout in the same way as a black eye or a pool of blood.

I would say it’s blowing off steam. You hardly see men talking about these sorts of topics in real life, so letting out pent-up emotions about dating and women online is messy and offensive to some but cathartic and validating to others.

And yet you’ll have better chances looking there than here. That’s all I’ll say.

Trying to find solutions on a debate forum like this, where everybody is entrenched in their own position, is about the worst thing you could do. Don’t expect sympathy here. You have to find it in real life.

Because women do not see themselves as a structural cause of this issue. However, it’s more conventionally acceptable to say that men cause the structural problems for women.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/04/26 04:57 PM

And yet all men are somehow the problem. Fascinating.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/04/26 09:42 PM

Whatever helps you convince yourself.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/04/26 09:34 PM

“Leave women alone” has been the dominant cultural narrative for the last 15 years. It is better and safer to assume that any subjective signal is not worth the risk of being ostracized in a public environment.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/04/26 09:17 PM

Most women do not want to converse with strangers while they’re out and about. So it’s been told.

Most of the women on this sub, in fairness, are already married or coupled up.

Neurodivergence and a lack of grace for social deficiencies. In a social-media driven world, one mistake means someone else is ready to take your place in the prospective suitor conga line.

Many, many other things besides dating where you can actually see the rewards of the effort you put in.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/26 08:25 PM

The latter. However, I do not believe that a fair, gender neutral society can or will exist under our current economic paradigm. Capitalism and competition always require that there are losers.

Gee a population of people primed tonthink of men as the problem are also being paid to "help" them. There's a large amount of variation here for which therapists / psychologists you're seeking out as well as the issues they can help you deal with. While I have had a female therapist who has belittled the male experience and psychology, I have also had others who have not.

It cuts both ways. Men sometimes take credit for collective competence, women sometimes take credit for collective suffering. I occasionally see posts from women about “how we’ve suffered for thousands of years because of men” as if they were present for every iota of it and remain in constant communion with their eternally-agonized female ancestors. In the end, both want recognition but through flawed means.

You'll forgive me if I don't think that the bread-making demographic is likely to be full of singles or social butterflies. And in most adult classes I've taken, rarely do people want to get drinks or socialize outside of those environments. What's more, I think you and other women sorely underestimate how little social grace men are given in these situations nowadays and ones similar to it. Men do not have limitless social capital today that they can expend willy-nilly. I could pull up any rang…

That doesn't sound like the sort of place where one can go and meet others in a capacity beyond the hobby. No one goes to a bread-making class to get hit on.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/02/26 02:49 PM

We should actively cut out OLD and find friends and hobbies and meet through our jobs and friends There's no way I would ever risk my job or my friend circle for a relationship nowadays.

You can make the argument that the sorts of unconventional wars that we’re moving towards as a species do not require physical fortitude, and I don’t buy your point that women naturally lack mental fortitude, either. The next domain of war is cyberspace - meaning that weaponry is extending towards computers (e.g. Stuxnet) as well as remote devices such as drones. Men will still be needed (and drafted) for front-line roles, but also for this new domain - as should women, if the draft is kept.

I would like to see these too skinny, skinflint, introverted and maybe even some of the short ones… you think they are not on dating apps at all? Behavior that allows this type to not quit apps because they don't get any attention or dates.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/02/26 12:04 PM
2

No; I’m just letting you know my perspective as a man no longer on apps because it doesn’t reward the type of behavior you’re looking for.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/02/26 10:49 AM

Apps don’t reward authenticity for men. A visually-based platform means that pictures matter more than anything, and you’re competing with countless other men to show that you’re better, hotter, fitter, and more interesting to the women sorting through you like some meat catalog. And even if you do somehow get a match, appearances must be kept up to actually go from screen to in-person meetup. You’re usually not getting there by not having some measure of extraversion and social/visual appeal. Y…

You’ve never heard of the term “fuckboy” before?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/26 06:19 AM
4

Yes, exactly. If a woman is going to get the 'ick' because of what I order at a bar or a certain phrase I like to use in conversation, then let them. Who would want that sort of person around anyways to endlessly needle you over your mannerisms?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/02/26 08:04 PM

It is a term that was originally coined to describe the management of emotions in certain workplace environments where only certain feelings were deemed professionally appropriate. When people describe such 'work' as 'unpaid' within the context of a marriage or a relationship, then that indicates how out-of-place it is within such discussions.

Women are also part of rich people.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/26 07:02 AM

It's a really poor term to transplant from a similar-yet-different context of workplace relationships. Seeing some women contextualize it as 'unpaid labor', as if a romantic relationship is a series of economic transactions, only proves this.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/01/26 08:06 PM

I wouldn’t quite say that. I have had women friends who have supported me before, and - as mentioned - there are men out there who fit their description. But I’ve learned over time that certain friends and SOs cant or won’t provide that support, which - as I originally said - makes debates like that over ‘man keeping’ and ‘emotional labor’ ironic for me.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/01/26 01:36 PM

The core of these women's complaints is that there is an imbalance in the emotional and social work that they have to do for their male partners, who do not reciprocate it or make enough changes in their behavior to correct it. As I said before, there are instances where this is indeed true. However, these women frame the debate in a way that makes them seem like perfectly-functioning emotional automatons that do not at all need or rely on their male partners or the men in their lives for the sa…

I often find it ironic when a certain type of woman complains about emotional labor and 'mankeeping', which I don't doubt is true in some instances. But I find it ironic because, in some of my intimate or romantic relationships with women, they have created a lot of that same labor and have expected me or other men to fix it or co-regulate their emotions. I think the difference is that the sort of emotional messiness is tolerated with women by society, whereas with men, emotional messiness is tr…

I think it’s safe to say that the rise of single-parent households disproportionately affects boys rather than girls in educational outcomes, alongside the lack of male teachers and role models. There are studies out there showing as well that boys are discriminated against through a gender grading bias, where they receive lower grades compared to girls.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/01/26 02:15 PM

You’re asking men to think beyond and forget their own struggles because somewhere, someone inevitably has it worse than them. This is a shortcoming of intersectionality. No one wants to be told to suck it up and stop suffering because the metaphorical African children are starving.

Giving advice, showing empathy, or at least listening to whatever I needed to vent about or get advice on. Not every man, of course, gave me compassion. I have had several in my life who belittled me or shamed me for what I was experiencing. But the ones that did were able to do so because they could in some way relate to my experiences. I unfortunately have not experienced that often with the women in my life.

I would broadly tie compassion to men not feeling gaslit or made to feel bad, weak, or shameful about their struggles, problems, and emotions related to their struggles and problems. Because often when men open up, the responses – in my experience, mostly from the women in my life – have been complete silence at best and gaslighting at worst.

So long as we live in a socioeconomic system that requires a productive underclass of men, this will not happen.

Worthiness exists on a set of values. Those values are not defined by nature, not by the universe, and certainly not consistently among human beings. When you see or experience suffering enough times, when you hear enough stories about children who are tortured and traumatized by their parents and caregivers, you can understand that living is not some miracle but instead an evolutionary speedbump in the universe. That's neither good or bad, but it's simply the way things are.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/12/25 10:56 PM

The universe does not possess a set of values. It is indifferent at best to our existence. Individuals have worth as they relate to other humans. But it is not inherent.

Sexlessness and virginity are convenient cudgels to shame men with by all parties. So long as that shaming tactic effective through the lens of 'punching up', it won't disappear as a social stigma.

I would say the black pill perspective is that the decline can’t be enjoyed or worked with. Why bother? There isn’t a way to profit from the status quo, so giving up is the only option.

It’s because the perceived social costs for men learning and making mistakes in those settings has gone up in the last several decades between changing social norms, social media, online spaces, deteriorating mental health, and other factors.

Northern European cultures are indeed more distant and less spontaneously social, and it leaks into dating culture. It’s very uncommon for people here to approach unless there’s a prior connection.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/11/25 06:38 AM

Because there is no societal push for men in these roles like there has been for women in men’s traditional roles. Men will not go into these industries without collective support and funding from government-led initiatives. I am a male teacher. I had no support programs, mentors, role models, or recruitment opportunities to get into my career path. There are few male teachers my age because there is zero push for it - only talk.
