I love this reply - so happy for you! :) How old is he, if you don’t mind me asking?

Thanks for this honest answer - this makes sense and I think is closer to reality, compared to the generic idea that women are actively far more attractive when they’re unintelligent (which wouldn’t be very adaptive, since raising children requires astuteness and forward planning too).

Hi, thanks so much for this incredibly thoughtful and astute reply. All of your points resonate with me, and I find them interesting because they make sense yet push me out of my comfort zone… they threaten my paradigm of reality, but are irrefutably objective to a significant degree. You’ve reminded me to view femininity as ‘active’… rather than passive. And to view raising a guy’s kid’s as something that I, myself, would want to do… because they’d also be mine. Which is something that’s hard t…

Mainly meant to convey that my dream is to find a very logical, very ambitious guy who loves his STEM-leaning work so much that he sees me (a biology lover) as feminine and not reminiscent of the competitive men/women he works with. Hence, a guy who desires to cherish me etc., despite 100% of my energy not being directed towards housekeeping. This balance isn’t one I’m going to find with a guy who’s a poet, much as I respect non-STEM HVM.

Interesting. I assume he still possessed those integral masculine traits while you were both early 20s though, right? And he didn't ever feel threatened by you working in science/feel more drawn to other women who were less intelligent? That's very reassuring

Thanks for this reply - I think your points are incredibly valid. It's mindblowing how virtually all of the girls I know (who are highly analytical and objective in many ways) FAIL to really view this for what it is. Fail to see how society/modern feminism deceives women and sets them up to be both a). low value to HVM and b). in a v poor position to fulfil their (nearly always) natural desire to have kids/be protected by a HVM. I strongly believe that this topic is a lot more nuanced than how 1…

Thanks for sharing your very valuable perspective :) If you don't mind me asking, how old were you and your husband when you both met?

Thanks very much for sharing... this is very interesting and reassuring. Sounds like you have a wonderful balance going on. Just out of curiosity, is there a significant age gap between you two?

I do… I’ve recently dated a wonderful guy a little older than me whose family is incomprehensibly wealthy. We’d be in a committed relationship but he’s moving country. However, I’ve been my most relaxed self this summer because I’m currently inbetween academic chapters. So, my reality of being a woman in science wasn’t ever really that prominent (apart from me telling him I love it… over glasses of red wine. He seemed really proud of me as I didn’t ‘rant’). I’m definitely going to strive to be a…

Tough as hell, but interesting. Makes sense, when viewed through the lens of comparative advantage - no point pretending that these men crave what women crave (success, intelligence ) - better to face reality. However, I meant having kids in my late 20s... ideally settling down soon! Based on your reply, would you say that a woman being truly passionate about something APART from homemaking/kids/her femininity is a virtually guaranteed detractor for a HVM? Always? Is every high-earning, powerful…

I felt the same way, but then I truly and madly fell in love with a guy and that connection opened me up to a tonne of things --> the masculine/feminine balance (I.e. the fact I actually love to be protected by a guy I like - I just don't like many) and my maternal instinct. Cheesy as it sounds, I can now see myself living in a house with a guy and a little baby running around. I'm incredibly STEM-minded and ambitious so I'd not even consider this before my early 30s, but damn, I am feeling that…

I just want to say that this is amazing advice. I (F22) have recently had an absolutely heartbreaking situation with a guy I fell for. We're so aligned, academically/spiritually/etc., yet it went to shit. I still felt too much/couldn't detach, and my vulnerability just 'triggered' him to act even more cruelly and narcissistically with me. Opened my eyes up to power dynamics, etc., and made me lean more into my masculine energy to survive the pain and avoid further humiliation. I'm naturally v. f…

Interesting, makes sense. I agree that it's essential to know when to disconnect from that state if you need to, as dumping that energy on the wrong person (or anyone to an obsessive degree) is simply always going to end tragically.

Do you not think the same happens to guys who feel they've encountered a truly special girl? Or, would you say that a guy in the same situation will always be less 'affected' throughout the day (unless he has serious psychological wounds/is obsessed with her to an unhealthy degree)?

He said English isn't his first language. I understand your interpretation, but I still think he's referring to a girl who has a bit of a 'barrier' up because she feels like she must be as tough as possible, but who simply melts into a softer version of herself when her romantic interest is truly triggered. I'm a very STEM-minded feminine girl who has endured a tonne of truly appalling treatment from guys. But I like to always employ critical thinking - to leave behind bitterness, to move forwar…

It is 100% real, indeed! However, from my experience (being very knowledgeable in psychology and having a lot of female friends), not all girls seem to be affected by love in this way. The ones that are, and who understand this notion of 'changing'/softening/feeling drugged' in a way that isn't BPD/unhealthy/a trauma bond, are both: a). capable of feeling a lot in general, and are typically 'sent a bit manic' by whatever they love in life b). v. independent and consider romance a 'life-enhancer'…

Spot-on. This is why polarity is essential - the guy must be in his 'leading' masculine energy and protect her/make her feel special. Otherwise, she'll stop seeing him as a desirable, high-value partner (even if she logically knows he's great, the feelings will change). However, it's absolutely the same for women - a masculine guy staying interested in a woman long-term is 100% contingent on her being in her feminine energy. We must know how to regularly tune into being feminine/positive/recepti…

I think he's talking about that 'softening' of character that is inevitable when you're initially love-drugged... Not completely ditching your interests and principles. I personally have this very experience. I'm feminine but am highly analytical/generally in my 'planning'/leading energy... If I fall for a guy I truly adore, however, I'm simply softer with him. More laughing, more present, more in my feminine energy. Doesn't need to be a negative thing or detract from your principles/intelligenc…

I have had the IDENTICAL experience! Even down to now feeling more spiritually aligned with guys/wanting to be protected. Funny, because as a teen, I honestly felt that I was mentally 80% gay. It was also something I struggled with - I'd fall so intensely for girls, and the feelings would always be hard to deal with... other feminine girls turned me so soft. Now, I feel 85% straight, both in terms of attraction and the types of connections that feel special and make me feel 'seen'. Truly crazy!

Perfect advice, thank you - really resonates with me. I've always had amazing success with the LoA (more specifically Law of Assumption/Neville Goddard), and I think you're completely right. This comes down to knowing you already have all that you need (which automatically takes these guys off the pedestal/stops you leaning in too much and chasing) and "assuming" that they're chasing... because why wouldn't they be? Feminine energy is absolutely intoxicating to guys. Thanks again!

Thanks so much for this reply. From your tone, I can just tell you're highly intuitive and completely understand why I'm trying to analyse this/how I feel! I also think you're 100% right - it's good to take scraps from different information sources and construct your own model of 'how I'm most likely to secure a guy I like', involving staying high-value, not letting whatever emotions inundate you bleed into your communication (def v important)... but at the end of the day, you don't need to be s…

I think you're the one who gets me the most here. This is precisely what I mean (also a fan of Jung!). I am very emotionally aware, so it isn't like I start affirming the guy 24/7/losing my playfulness etc., but I do slip into a love-drugged state and reckon it 'flattens' me out into more of a 'nice girl'. For ex., if a friend introduces me to a TV series, we'll normally end up talking about what we love about it etc., but if one of these guys does, it'll be like he's handed me a chunk of spirit…

Thanks... I actually have no interest in this alpha type of guy, though! I like guys who are masculine, but who click with me in a very precise way. Typically, this stems from them being interested in the exact academic areas I am, and it's magic. I realise this isn't very RP but I like to explore different models of relationships.

Hey, thanks for the reply! I'm glad you saw past that illusory side of things and are now happily married. However, I'm actually interested in more 'sigma' guys, definitely not true future 'CEO alpha' types (I have zero spiritual connection with them... would never feel vulnerable or fall in love). The ones I like are extrov. when comfortable, masculine in general, but SUPER reflective and philosophical etc. These guys are very much 'within my reach' .... $$ also doesn't come into it. We typical…

You're both correct - however, I genuinely don't think they're perfect on a logical level, and can easily objectively list their faults. My self-esteem is good, and I adore all aspects of my life... It just this hormonal/primal response that makes me feel very in love w these guys, and like I need to "live out this chapter with my soulmate" etc. Again, I can counter that intellectually when it crops up ("you've thought that 4 times before, you don't need romance etc."), and I get over these epis…

I don't deny that last paragraph... that's why I'm looking for advice on how to be that best version of myself that's a little less puppy-eyes-in-love, so that I have my best shot at a relationship with a guy who's suited for me (i.e. me also being put off my feeling someone's always there).

Hi, thanks for the reply. However, my specific issue is that these guys and I are a perfect match until I screw up by becoming much more one-dimensional and 'eager' than I'd normally ever be. This is a normal biological response, but it's highly incongruent to how I am with friends, family and in general: warm but playful, independent, aloof. I am only able to feel anything for guys on my level,. I now know (after several connections going wrong) that securing a beaut relationship with one of th…

I like your thinking.. you're right. However, I HAVE had situations where male friends (masculine, yet somehow secretly insecure?) have later told me that they really liked me but didn't want to make a move, thought I was out of their league, etc. So, I don't think there's anything wrong with prompting things a *little* (like maybe a slightly more flirty text than what you'd normally send, maybe even inviting him back to yours after dinner) to let him know he can chase. Of course, I'd never do m…

Thank you - this is actually v good advice. Clever way to slip into a surreal "wait, she's really opening up the convo like this" without being too brazen. Given you've had a similar experience, do you think it'd be fine to invite him back to mine (since I live central and he doesn't)?

Thank you! But, don't you think a girl making the first move (even if conventionally attractive/it flatters him) is likely to fail to trigger his deep 'pursuing' instinct...? And frame me as a toy? We have a super deep connection so I can't see that happening, yet I know male psychology is SO capricious. Being assertive before has cost me dearly and had guys frame me as nothing more than a hot FwB, so I'm so keen to give HIM space to chase me.
