It feels better and better every time we see each other. The weekend’s date was our best yet. Perhaps he thinks I’m more comfortable in the relationship because I’m not reaching out via text as much (intentionally) and so he doesn’t have to reassure me/check-in so often.

After we met in person, he deleted the dating apps. I think that signals commitment on his end. I think I’m expecting it to move quicker because that’s how it worked in my previous relationships. But he has some things going on in his life that’s preventing things from progressing as quickly as I would like and I need to just let him lead. Thanks for your insight but I think we approach relationships in fundamentally different ways. Cheers.

Thanks. My male straight friend said the exact same thing.

We’ve rarely ever texted. Over then month of May, I would conservatively estimate he invested over 60 hours in phone/video conversations with me. We live a 1hr 20 min drive from each other (I’m in a rural area right now and he’s in the city), so it makes getting together logistically more difficult. I love our dates, but I would prefer if I saw him one weekday evening per week as well. If, when I move into the city, this doesn’t happen, then I’m going to move onto finding someone who is more ava…

You’re right, I don’t get it either. It’s funny - I came into this just looking to see where things went. He was the one who seemed to want something more serious. Now it looks like the tables have changed. I think I’m going to just focus on improving myself, hang out with family and friends, and put in only what he’s putting in. I don’t think I’m going to have an overnighter with him this weekend and I won’t unless we get more settled into what we are. Thanks for your insight.

It’s confusing because he is financially secure. He makes close to 6 figs and owns a rental home. From what I can gather, he wants to time to focus on himself and further his professional goals… and while he’s been able to do that since breaking up up with his LTR last year, he’s still undecided on what he wants to do professionally in the long-term. I don’t think he’s ready for an LTR again because that time and mental energy that would normally go towards building his career would go to me.

He sees himself getting married and have children within the next few years—it’s just the career thing is plaguing him. He wants to get that settled first. His ex wanted marriage and children REALLY soon and he felt like he couldn’t give that to her according to her timeline, so he ended things because it wasn’t fair to her. Anyways, thank you for your two cents. I’ve only ever had sex with one ex-boyfriend, so it’s a really big deal to me.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
