I agree, it isn't. But they have "thought" to some degree. They too were apparently "genuinely well intentioned people" -- and would have told you they saw those things as "the moral thing to do" I am not suggesting that being well intentioned is inherently moral. I have spoken to a lot of these people and they really believe that subsidizing single mothers results in less suffering for children.
