watched a friend try the wandering approach at cherry creek mall last month. spent 3 hours looking lost and got zero conversations. your mission based idea makes way more sense... gives you actual reason to be there

watched a designer friend pitch logos once. kept saying 'clean lines, modern aesthetic, versatile brand identity'... client looked bored. then he started telling stories about what each shape reminded him of and suddenly they were engaged

yeah the third wheel thing is real... i notice it at gallery openings too. solo people just have this different energy that draws certain types of conversations. plus no friends means no safety net so you actually have to develop real social skills instead of hiding behind group dynamics

idk the compliment approach feels a bit calculated to me... i prefer waiting for natural moments when theres already connection happening. like if shes laughing or we're both leaning in during conversation. physical touch works best when it matches the energy thats already there

idk about this whole thread but pets are legit... my old college roommate had a husky and girls would literally cross the street to pet it. meanwhile im over here with my sourdough starter trying to make that look cool somehow
