Isn’t it strange how most cooks in restaurants are men (who get paid) and most cooks in home kitchens are women (who don’t get paid).

I find this chilling. I‘m in a band with 5 men, have been for 20 years. All but one band member never ran the merch table. They would say “but you’re so good at it.” But they sucked at it because they never fucking tried because they thought it was beneath them. Honestly, I wish I could quit this band. So badly. But it’s part of my livelihood. And to be a woman in a quasi-successful band feels rare to me. I wish I could quit just to be free of all the menial labour I do. Since I manage all our m…

I don’t know if it’s because I was raised by a single mum and I myself am now 40 years old, but I have never considered that there was fearmongering about single motherhood until this post broke it down for me. I was 10 years old when my mom kicked my dad out. I remember seeing her putting his stuff in garbage bags and throwing them out of the house. But even at 10, I knew she was right and he was wrong. I remember being stone faced when he came to me that night with crocodile tears. At 10, I wa…

I’m sorry to hear that. You don’t deserve that.

This is why I will never live with a boyfriend again. I’ve done it once; he was sweet, but I ended up doing the lion’s share of the house work (as most women do). There was even a study which showed this to be the case. I’m in a relationship now and I love him to bits, but I am still standing by my no-live-in-BF rule.

This post reminds me of a time when I was camping with my friend, also in her mid 30’s, and she said, “we are living the lives that women through the ages had only dreamed about”: we were single, happy, did what we wanted, didn’t do what we didn’t want to. It was something I had never forgotten, and never will.

Facebook allows the propagation of lies because their very business model is based on views and reactions, most of which is created by peddling bullshit stories. Lies are insidious because it takes wayyyy more effort to convince someone that something they read is untrue once the person believes it to be true.

I feel bad for the child. With a name like that and a billionaire (and likely to-be-absent) father, that kid is bound to have some issues, tho I certainly hope it does not.

If someone makes $40K a year and their live in partner makes $80K a year, then the lower income earner should at least pay half of what the higher income earner pays. No one partner should be paying 100% of the rent. It’s going to turn into a problem, guaranteed.

Holy cow, reading this made me so furious!!! Reminds me of how my mom took care of my deadbeat dad in the 80s (thank god she kicked him out while I watched when I was 10). Never will I ever allow myself to be in this position with a man.

My super old godmother who I rarely see told me similar recently at a family function!!! Before she even said hello to me, she pulled me in by the arm and said: “Don’t ever get married. Keep your freedom.” That was all she said. I was like, “Aie aie, comrade.” ✊

I came to this sub to seek advice on how to slow my roll on this guy that I’m REEEALLY excited about. Been talking for 3 weeks while we were both out of the country, had an amazing 7hr first date last night, and been having an impossible time getting him out of my head today, just hoping he texts me again soon (it’s only been 7 hours since the last text). I hate that I get a little obsessive when I finally meet a guy I like and seems to like me, which is super rare. Then I see this post. I tend …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
