Reading Samantha Irby’s book We Are Never Meeting in Real Life, I am thankful I was only flashed by boys my own age. I would have been traumatized worse if it had been a full grown man.

He really does. I brought. Him problems a few months ago and he listened to me whining and said, have you tried drinking? We laughed and laughed. I joked that’s perfect for his job security because he runs court mandated substance abuse group therapy. Oh! And he rescues animals.

That’s amazing! When I needed a therapist I didn’t have the energy to commit to finding someone and was so heartbroken I just needed someone. My drs office recommended an office over an hour away and I called but was told they didn’t have an opening and weren’t likely too. I did a google search called and found out they took my insurance. Day I showed up I was SO nervous like about ready to bolt. And the waiting room was empty. Thank goodness. And the music that played was music from all of Fred…

I was at a concert last year and the singer (who sings love ballads) said he asked his parents how their relationship lasted so long. And he said, “if you try hard enough it will work out”. I felt like I was sucker punched in the gut. Like if I had tried harder. I got in a bad mental place during that time. Trying to find how I got divorced - my choice, my idea, my desire and I knew it my heart it was the right thing to do. I clearly didn’t try hard enough. But I know I did. I stayed longer than…

My therapist is the most amazing man ever. I know what a commenter said above about women only but LEGIT he is THE best man ever on the planet. I saved this for him and I to laugh over. He would never tell me not to call someone out on their bullshit. Find a therapist that works for you! Don’t settle because it’s who you told your journey to, or because that’s the closest therapist or that’s who your insurance wants you to see. FIND SOMEONE ELSE. [edit for typos]

Same, actually. I loved my ex husband but he sometimes wasn’t kind. Or that he forgot how to show me he cared. Also, no liars.

I find that I don’t like hypothetical questions because you can’t really know how you’ll react in a particular situation. You think you couldn’t be with a man who sucked a dick but you could be with a woman who has? I would bet if you really cared about a person you wouldn’t worry about their past. :)

I get most of this is generalizing, because I know really sweet guys in many of these professions. I am wondering if maybe the root of the matter is lots of men don’t work their childhood trauma and other shit out before they start dating.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
