I’ve been so traumatized by abusive guys that whenever I stick up for myself or playfully show him I won’t take shit,he turns all sweet like explaining himself or “it’s ok” but I am STILL worried that’s a form of manipulation 😢 it’s a good step for me that I’m sort of naturally putting things in place, but then he acts like I AM putting him in his place and I can’t tell if it’s being considerate or not

I can usually barely tell because tall is tall to me (I’m smol) but I lived with an Asian guy who kept saying he was 5’8” when he was surely only 5’4”, maybe 5’5” at the MOST. I’m from Sydney and my particular circle of the industry has been great. So I can’t speak for anywhere else, but I feel like the #metoo era may have made it easier for doing this when I did. My workmates and the other boss have been amazing to me through this. I encourage speaking up, even if you can think of someone you trust to test the waters? Well the reason I mention the compliments is because they’re not on their own.
