He is definitely not a man child or looking for a mommy figure. He is pretty well respected in his field and has a handle on himself and his responsibilities. Yes, he wants a helpmate and a woman who is expressive of her natural feminity, not a doormat.

This is exactly it. I feel like I hang back or freeze up quite a lot when there's a time sensitive situation that pops up. Part of me is terrified of asserting myself and another part thinks my boyfriend can handle things a lot better than I can, so even if he delegates a task to me he often ends up taking over for me anyway due to this learned helplessness issue I have. This has caused a bit of resentment on his end. He stays because he has empathy for how deep seated these issues are and I'm n…

This is exactly it. He isn't blaming me or looking for a mother figure. He's perfectly capable of owning his own stuff. He wants me to assert myself more so that the burden of managing life's inconveniences and setbacks doesn't fall squarely on him. He wants a woman who can make decisions and act when needed.

I know it should seem obvious, but I have a hard time distinguishing between nagging and legitimately speaking up about something, so I avoid both. My mother has one of the most insufferable attitudes I've ever witnessed and was a 24/7 nag to my father growing up. Almost every little thing was a complaint or big emergency, so I went to the other extreme just to avoid being like her but never found a healthy medium.

I cleaned up a lot of my red flags over the last few years, which really made a difference with maintaining stability in my LTR (lost 20 pounds, debt free, ditched the feminist ideology). There's some deep seated personality issues I have yet to work through, stemming from obvious neurotic mommy issues, such as hyper sensitivity and an inability to take criticism. I get hurt easily, and go into pouty grump mode when someone brings up something they don't like about my actions. That's caused some…

Good to know. Thank you for quelling my fears. I'm sure my boyfriend views things in much the same way. He's 29, only about a year older than me. He's made comments about how his fresh out of college female co-worker is childish and immature and how it's more annoying than anything (like a little sister). I suppose some guys chase college girls endlessly, but those are not the type of men that willingly enter into a serious partnership anyway.

He gets flustered at the unexpected more than the average person (mild autism). He has moments where he flies off the handle due to a other stuff not going to plan, but is generally pretty apologetic. He praises me for doing well at being helpful, and gives me proper credit or he'll just say "thank you, I love you" out of nowhere as we're falling asleep together. He's pretty affectionate and generous with positive praise.

For the most part, my boyfriend is pretty forgiving and apologies when he realizes he might be too harsh. He himself has anxiety issues and was diagnosed with mild autism, so anything unexpected already throws him off more than the typical person. He notes that the mistakes are a part of a trend of me not thinking and putting my intention out there. It's just the way I conduct myself, very meek and gullible, that concerns him. He knows my past and my parents, so he does understand I don't come f…

I did date one guy during this time but struggled to remain attracted to him. He was crazy insecure when drunk and had fetishes involving me cheating on him with other guys that he could not keep under control. He put me on a pedestal, which was sort of a turn off, go figure. I was always thinking and pining for my then ex during the entire relationship, who has always been very independent and aloof. Once my current boyfriend showed interest in me again I broke up with that guy to get back toge…

Whelp. Looks like someone gets it. I'd rather not risk winding up alone. I consider that way worse than taking the dive into this type of lifestyle. I consider the alternative of singledom to be devastating to me. I know my own SMV at this point in the game. The scales are tipping towards men being able to pick and choose younger women at my age. I met my fiance at 24. I'm 28 now. I knew full well what I was getting into with a man like him. I've chosen and I'm committing to that choice. It's no…

What if your monogamous husband decides to up and leave you for another woman? What if he cheats/betrays you deeply in some way and you are forced to forgive his transgressions and potentially go on in a broken marriage or divorce? What example does that set for the kids? What about having two mommies? Two daddies? If that's normalized and legal, then where do we draw the line? You can vet all you want and think you know someone until you don't. You just have to trust your husband and vet well. …

I already know that if he left me, I'd find it extremely difficult to bond with another man. I would be a grade A alpha window, you're right. I'd find it impossible to not pine for him while in a relationship with another man. I am not willing to risk a life where I find no one and never have kids or end up with a divorced dad. I am pushing 30 and the man I have genuinely loved for years has agreed to children and commitment with these terms. If he offered me monogamy, I'd honestly be intimidate…

Even in monogamous situations there is no guarantee that the "normal guy" will remain completely loyal throughout the years. As stated, I think MOST men prefer variety. It's also MOST men who are unable to negotiate for this type of scenario if they desire an LTR. Monogamy is a deal breaking requirement for most women, and men suppress the desire for variety to gain the commitment of one woman. If he could get the commitment of two or more women, he'd do so provided he has the energy, desire, an…

Meh. I'm 5' 2". I've found that shorter girls have a harder time maintaining a normal weight, and thus struggle with the upkeep of SMV. I literally have to eat one full meal a day to maintain between 110-115 lbs. Weight fluctuations in either direction are extremely noticable. The struggle is real. My boyfriend prefers short girls though. To each their own.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to prove myself in my field. I've never prioritized a "career" of sorts and my passions in life are not necessarily easily monetized. I was hired at my current position three months ago and just had a favorable performance review with my boss. This is my first full time position at a nationally recognized institution and for the first time in my life I feel like I can make a tangible difference and move up in the world in some sense. -Double cleansing via using an oil to remove makeup, then incorporating a gentle cleanser to finish up the job (dead skin cells and the like). -As others have noted, sunscreen. Wear it daily. Lather on as much as you possibly can without gooping or causing an insane white cast. -Keeping up with the scientific literature around ingredients commonly used in beauty products. The beauty industry is largely unregulated and it's really the responsibility of the consumer to research wild claims.

Pay down 1k on my CC debt. After that, I'll be in the final sprint towards being debt free (pay off date is August 30th) Communicate my emotional needs more effectively to my bf instead of silently sulking and harboring things until it bubbles up into something bigger than it actually is (queue the unecesessary argument). I can see why changing my hair color might seem as an act of defiance to his wishes, and I understand that portion of it. I'm fully willing to redo it to a color similar to my natural hair color while my roots grow out. I've learned my lesson. I do, however, struggle with self esteem issues and it's hard for him to understand how much him oogling at fake looking girls while simultaneously finding my efforts to "enhance" my beauty repulsive confuses me. Thank you. Honestly, the dramatic hair change stems from self confidence issues and thinking that I need to mimic that the girls my bf is turned on by in porn, which they are usually heavily done up. I have a hard time understanding why he hates the unatural hair on me but can be still sexually attracted to these extremely fake girls with tattoos all over the place. It makes me think I need to put in that same level of effort to appearance, but to my dismay he hates it. It feels like these girls…

My boyfriend told me that I smelled different and just something about me wasn't attractive when I took the Depo shot. I think the birth control was a factor that led to our initial break up. It makes sense due to the hormone suppression essentially turning you into a menopausal woman. I felt sluggish and noticed my body started to become lumpy in places it normally wouldn't. BC was the worst experience and in my opinion, aged me before my time in a way. My boyfriend began clocking me as a biolo…

That's what I'm thinking. I haven't the faintest clue about what he does. I work in higher education, a completely different animal. My greatest fear, however, was always him clicking with a girl programmer and getting more personal fullfillment from her than me through those "geeky" conversations. I'm anxious about him meeting a girl like that at his work.

He's not secretive about his phone habits. He just checks up on it very often, often times in front of me. He's a very punctual person and tends to be fidgety so I get why he might be doing this mostly on the commute to work and back. Most of the time I look over and he's browsing something but he doesn't talk much at all about who he texts (although to be honest, both of us do not have many friends). I know his work uses Slack (it's like a social media board for programmers as I understand it) …

I'm in an LTR with a mildly autistic man. He gets obsessed with his interests and hobbies to the point of going on and on about them without pause. Your boyfriend sounds similar. He can probably spend hours devoted to one subject. In those moments where he's focusing on a hobby, have you ever expressed interest in learning more about what he spends so much time on? He'll probably give you the detailed run down on something you have zero interest in, but this is his way of connecting with you. Ju…

Female. Yes, daily. I'm mostly Irish and my complexion is naturally ruddy and splotchy, not to mention I have intense genetic dark circles that I've had since childhood. I did not hit the genetic lottery. I look like a sick ghost without makeup. A bit of foundation evens out my skin tone and concealer masks my dark circles. People are nicer to me when I wear it. It's just a requirement for me.

Interesting. I also caught "soft" feelings for the guy I dated before my boyfriend and I got back together. That's the best way to describe it. We had a ton of fun together and I was fond of him, but fondness does not an LTR make. When my boyfriend broke up with me, I fell into a deep depression and cried my heart out on some days. When I left the filler bf to go back to my boyfriend, I just felt guilty for wasting his time and didn't shed a tear over him.

I was single for six months and came to the conclusion that I'd have the same bonding issue irregardless of the guy. Any guy who was not him would get the same treatment. I decided to at least try to enter into an LTR with a guy who objectively ticked my boxes because it was either that or resign myself to spinsterhood. I don't think my boyfriend would have come back to me so enthusiastically either if it was apparent that I was so crushed I did nothing but wallow and pine for him. I really had …

Sadly yes, if you consider attempting to date after deeply pair bonding with an ex a filler relationship. I tried to make it work with a guy for a year, but not a day went by without thinking about my ex who left me to move downstate for a job. I guess this was a typical case of being "alpha widowed" so to speak. When my ex moved back into town and expressed interest in rekindling a relationship with me again, I left that guy for my ex so fast it gave me emotional whiplash. Mind you, I'm pushing…

He can command and guide other men. I notice if his guy friends follow his lead or come to him for advice. People naturally defer to him as he is a jack of all trades and can hold a conversation about a multitude of subjects. He's the guy who steps forward first to help when something unexpected happens. He's good at one line zingers that get a group of people to laugh.

I feel insecure because my boyfriend doesn't ravish me when I change in front of him. Usually he'll be playing a video game and bewbs are right in front of him and he doesn't bat an eye. Men are simple like that I guess. He does grab my butt in bed every night and that gets him going pretty quickly. I sometimes expect him to lament to high heaven about my body, but that's just my "turning the corner on 30" insecurities coming out. If he gets riled up from touching you and is dtf most of the time…

Perhaps it's not necessarily off the table, but for the right woman he'd put a ring on it. I also don't get why marriage is coupled with commitment. Your boyfriend could be with you on your death bed but it's not considered commitment because the state didn't confirm it. I don't get that. I think plenty of women end up alone or with men they don't respect because of the marriage or bust mentality. If a guy is (understandably) apprehensive about it, it seems like a lot of women here would rather …

In my bf's case, his passion is his career. He's a software engineer. Even if he wasn't getting paid, he'd sit in front of a computer and program for hours. He's just starting out in his career and makes 75k. If I passed up kids and worked for years I expect I wouldn't ever skirt 50k. It's just how it is with my skillset. I'm at an age where I don't have years to pop out babies. If I have to put my career on hold anyway, I don't see the value in striving to increase my salary. I work, sure, but …

Pretty much. Those are my best qualities. If a guy likes a hyper submissive, agreeable woman, I'm it. The down side is I'm TOO agreeable. I'm generally very good natured and never shit test, but if pushovers annoy you I'm not your girl. Thankfully my boyfriend is very dominant and loves being the decision maker in the relationship.

In my case, yes, my parents paid for the vast majority of my college. However, I never had a passion that translates to a definite career, so I earned a degree in English. I have an above average IQ with a propensity to excel in an academic environment. I graduated with high honors and that was that. I saw college as a boarding school of sorts that rounded out my life experiences and gave me access to high quality men. I never would have met my boyfriend through any other medium. He probably wou…

Gotcha. Good to know. I think that the career woman trope is pretty glorified and other women encourage each other to not "need no man" and go for advanced degrees. It's pretty discouraging as a woman who likes to be socially validated. I just basically described my own best qualities in a relationship. I give zero shits about career advancement. I work part-time and that's enough for me. I do like working and contributing, but my dream is to please my man, not my boss. My boyfriend deserves the…

At 27, I noticed it's getting more and more difficult to pull off youthful looks. My skin just needs more attention than it did a few years ago. I can pull off being clocked as 21-22, but only with at least over an hour of skincare and makeup prep, whereas when I was actually 22 I could just roll out of bed and splash water on my face and use a couple makeup products. I agree, but it's possible for a man to do a 180 if you make it undeniable that you are his best option. My boyfriend was hot and cold with me during the first rendition of our relationship. I was still going through a feminist phase and had nothing going on for me, plus I was clingy. I got why he was skeptical of me. He broke up with me and I went through a self improvement phase, dropped the feminist cult mentality, lost 20 pounds, paid off my car and student loans etc. Over a year later, he c…

My boyfriend is pretty neutral about male friends, but I make a point to only befriend men already in an LTR. This way we're usually not hanging out alone and we can do fun double dates. In my experience, single men express inappropriate interest even when they know you're taken.

I have not brought up a specific timeline, but I interpret his actions as open to marriage and family. He talks about "getting us ready for the future." which is a significant tell for a man. I want one child, but children are not necessary to my fulfillment in life. I could take or leave motherhood. Marriage is more important to me than anything else.

Thanks so much for this! It does seem like he's setting up a life for us. This new success of his makes me see his value as a captain and makes me want him even more as a husband! He's more pragmatic and careful than me, thus the decision to put us through financial counseling. I'm totally on board with his decisions, except I'm little girl giddy over the prospect of being his wife. Uhm...wat. This sounds like an incel level expression of sexuality. Fetishes are non-negotiable deal breakers. He'll just keep pushing you for stuff that makes you uncomfortable no matter how you feel about it. Find yourself a guy with normal fantasies, not gross fetishes. He sounds low value to be honest, and his history with specifically dating feminists may or may not be evidence of this.

Ok thanks. I just don't want to catch him at an inappropriate time and get shot down. He's very logical and is a guy who needs his ducks in a row before moving forward with anything else. He's very focused on starting this new job and planning his first few paychecks. Once the prospect of an apartment with me gets more real to him, I'll bring up the subject of a timeline.

We've been together 3 months since getting back together. He tells me he loves me and does cherish me now. I don't doubt that. I've told him I want to get married and have kids almost tearfully (during sex) and he said we could get married and have kids together. I don't want any other man. I dated a good man during our time apart and I broke up with him because I wasn't over my boyfriend. If I can work this relationship out, I'll do what it takes.

This might be an unpopular opinion here, but I've practiced polyamory in the past and I'm open to my man taking on one other woman as long as there is a clear distinction that I'm the number one priority and get special consideration. Men have the ability to love and cherish thier main woman and have a side piece, and perhaps even love two women equally! Women do not have this ability. That's just what I think. Don't apologize, just do. Your words are empty vessels of guilt without the proper intention. He'll see the change in you himself. Also, cut off beta orbiters. Your boyfriend doesn't want you talking to certain guys for a reason. He knows firsthand how guys are. I personally try not to be friends with men who are single. My guy just isn't a "date" type of guy and your man might not be either. Some men think it's frivolous or don't think it adds anything significant to the relationship. My boyfriend actually doesn't like going out to eat! It seems like he's a being a good sport about following along with what you plan, which is good sign. On the bright side, at least he's not combative when you plan things for you guys. Bring him the issue softly and sweetly. Tell him you want to be surprised by what he comes up …

Thank you for this! He has a very eccentric, satrical sense of humor. I can see women becoming easily offended by him for this reason alone. It has to be lonely at the top. He broke up with me right before his last semester of college due to needing to focus soley on his studies and the fact he was moving for a job. It didn't help I was pushing for marriage too much. My boyfriend is one of those genius level IQ men on the far right side of the bell curve. Even other men in STEM have a difficult time keeping up with him. I struggle to understand anything remotely related to numbers. I need to count on my fingers for even very basic addition and subtraction. It's not my thing and I have no interest in it. I graduated college with high honors in English. Writing and reading is my thing. I want to appreciate his interests but there's a huge barrier for me.

Yes, but due to a natural avoidance of conflict I tend to not get into it. My best friend is on and off with a guy who is obviously not Captain material. He was cheating on his ex with her and she didn't find out until well into the relationship through his grandma of all people. They both don't have kids yet thank goodness. We had couple's game night and the difference between them and my interactions with my boyfriend was like night and day playing Monopoly. They bickered over turns constantly…

Sure. A man's predicament is much the same as a woman on the dating market once you hit your thirties, although not as dire. Quality women get taken off the market and wifed up first. Women who got married in thier twenties are re-entering the market with divorce, baggage, and kids on thier resume. You don't want your first dating experiences to be with jaded women.

We all know the charts correlating a woman's N count to likelihood of divorce. As her number of sex partners increases, it decreases her likelihood of pair bonding successfully with the next partner, especially if she was in an LTR that knocked her socks off before. Loose women who find empowerment in indiscriminate sex are not the majority, but thier behavior is predictably fickle. The red flags can be seen from miles away. It's really the women who were fully devoted long term to a previous bo…

I buy and sell lightly used makeup and skincare products on Mercari. It's like an app version of eBay with a much lower learning curve. As an example, I bought four original beauty blenders for $35 with free shipping from a seller. They don't seem to charge sales tax either. I've been also getting more into indie and Etsy brands. Hand crafted beauty products tend to be priced a bit more fairly and tend to have more natural ingredients. The indie makeup subreddit has great recommendations.

I'm grateful for my Captain, who is making a huge effort to find a job in his field after a period of severe depression. He aced every programming test employers have thrown at him and has three interviews this week. I could not be prouder.

He's incredibly intelligent and talented as a programmer. I think what he does with computers is pretty impressive. He's eccentric and silly. He loves to tease me and knows to get me laughing so hard I cry. He hides in the house when I come home and pops out at me. I can't stay mad at him for long! He's a problem solver. He's handy and will tinker around with broken objects when everyone else has given up. I can't resist checking him out. He's got these sharp blue eyes and dirty blonde hair topp…

I agree with this. Even though children aren't in the equation for you, child free men who don't want children are already a minority. As you go through your 30s those men get snatched up and more men decide to have children. Finding an elligble partner will feel like hunting for a unicorn at that point. Practice self care and allow yourself to grieve, but I don't think nun mode is appropriate at this time in your life, especially since other aspects of your life seem to be on point. You sound p…

Unfortunately yes, but that's just my opinion from a more socially conservative perspective. There's often a stigma around women with tattoos that suggests mental instability, "loose" morals, and validation seeking. How true that actually is remains to be definitively studied, but it is a widely held view, especially among men I've found. RP men often will refer to a tattooed woman as automatically plate or pump and dump material. Perhaps this is an unfair assessment of someone you don't even kn…

I've been doing the keto diet with my boyfriend since December and I'm already down 15 pounds. GW is 105 and I'm currently 120. This next 15 pound stretch will be more difficult than the last with increasingly harder maintenance macros. I've made it a goal this month to log my macros every day. I feel sexier than ever and my boyfriend has been more grabby and complementing my tummy and butt. So worth the effort. My boyfriend and I made a joint goal of no screens after 10 on weekdays and bed by 1…

I developed a random eye inflammation related to a chronic autoimmune disorder I have. It left me practically blind in one eye for weeks. My boyfriend was right by my side, driving me to urgent care and optometrist appointments and asking the doctors questions for me while I was kind of flailing around uselessly in pain. He made light jokes and puns about my "pirate eye patch" to help me feel better. This is our second shot at this relationship and he's going through a rough patch (unemployment/…

Marriage is the ultimate reward for a high quality woman. A good woman makes a massive effort to remain attractive, agreeable, and supportive during the course of an LTR and naturally expects the relationship to come to a head at some point and transition to a state of greater stability and social recognition for her peace of mind. A proposal of marriage is her signal that she has passed her boyfriend's vetting process and she's doing a great job as a partner. It's her imperative, especially if …

I'm also of the mindset that excessive makeup, especially the use of very dark eyeshadow and lipstick, can be a slut tell along the same lines as tattoos and unnaturally colored hair are. In my experience, these are tells that a woman is overcompensating for a bitchy, neurotic personality or behaviors that are overly aggressive or masculine in nature. These women can't differentiate themselves from other women by cultivating a pleasant, feminine personality, so they alter thier appearance dramat…

I'm also on the spectrum and resonate well with him as I share some of the struggles that he does. He's also highly intelligent and resourceful, which is something that I value above social aptitude. Most women rate social aptitude and the ability to display social grace as a extremely high requirement in a man, but it's just not as important for me due to my own experiences on the spectrum. I'm willing to be forgiving of his incel-like behavior when many women would not.

I love the tactics! The slut comment was extremely uncharacteristic of him but still very concerning. If it has any bearing on the issue he is on the autism spectrum. I guess I should have pointed this out earlier. In this context, it's understandable why his behavior seems to fringe on incel or manchild territory. I've noticed that he does struggle with an underdeveloped social radar with women, and coupled with being cheated on by multiple exes, it's led to this problematic black and white ass…

In a way it's that, but he has no issues with sexualizing me or allowing me to become a sexual being in his eyes. He loves the end result of my primping and loves how I look without makeup too, but when I'm spending time actually getting ready he will sometimes get a little put out in this way. All he sees is me poking at my face with various objects he has no idea about for an hour and is mystified why I spend any amount of time doing it. It's just utterly frivolous to him and he doesn't get th…

Thanks a lot! It does seem like the makeup is threatening to him in some way and I see the insecurity it stems from. Like I said, he's fine with it most of the time and tells me I look nice when I'm finished getting ready. A lot of it perhaps also stems from the "vanity" aspect of makeup and he sees it as a shallow and "basic" interest. I notice he only makes comments when I'm in the process of getting ready, especially if that involves waiting on me to be done. I guess he's just impatient and g…

I can see that about the hostility. His exes were not exactly the highest quality women and cheated, etc. He has been open about how his experiences with women have left him with a lot to work on internally. The majority of the time he does makes positive comments about my appearance with makeup on, but he has an edge he needs to work through when it comes to women.

I can't recommend a crock pot enough, especially for wintery foods like soups and hearty roasts. You can make a diverse number of easy to prepare dishes and let them simmer all day. Not only will your meals be ready to go by dinner, you get the added bonus of your place smelling yummy all day. I also find that it's not necessary and even detremental to your health to eat three full meals a day. Try planning for only one large meal daily for the both of you (usually dinner). If both of you are wi…

Today is a work day so it's a pretty straightforward series of events. 8am: wake up, hit that 5 minute snooze on my alarm for extra cuddles with the bf, morning skincare routine, brew coffee and eat a cup of plain yogurt, do hair and makeup, kiss bf goodbye 10am: Arrive at the office for my 10 hour shift. My workplace has unusual business hours so I often end up taking very long shifts or evening shifts until 8. My other co-workers are older and have family and kid obligations so I'm often given…
