I can't find the article, but actually, this has been disproven in the UK, at least in finance and leadership roles. Due to non-compete clauses, the men take a comparable amount of time off in the financial sector and leadership roles as the women, and yet the women still are promoted less and are paid less. I actually did care. The guys on H1B Visa's got treated worse than me and I tried my best to take their Saturday shifts on their daughters birthday and such because they got hit with all the overtime because the managers knew they couldn't leave. Don't assume that just because someone is fighting to be treated with dignity they aren't fighting for others as well. Maybe you need to take a look in the mirror if you think that you can fight for men's rights without also fighting for women's rights.…

Um, how about social workers? Yeah, they get paid crap, but it is really important work they do. Just because our society undervalues those who serve children (the people who will support us in our old age, by the way) doesn't make it useless.

I mean, climate change deniers prove that daily. But yeah, it was pretty systematic. The only people treated worse were the H1B Visa guys :( We consoled each other. At least I could get out, they were stuck. So I am not saying I was the at the bottom, but I am saying there were systematic problems.

Yeah, I am really glad these cough cough men splained to me how it was to work in engineering. Not like I had peers that were men that totally noticed what I noticed and also backed me up that there was a problem. Which was nice, but didn't make it tolerable as a career choice.

I got a degree in Physics, masters in Mech Eng. And I got treated like crap for 4 years as an female engineer before switching to be a Physics teacher. Turns out that going to work every day to have your voice ignored or your ideas stolen feels like a waste of effort. So maybe part of closing the wage gap would also be working on making workplaces not be misogynistic so women who did get their engineering degrees wouldn't leave them at such higher rates than men.
