These downvotes is what makes men look bad. If we want to believe evidence, we have to stay neutral ahead of time, not go the other way and believe men. This is just someone sharing a story of something that is very real and happens to a lot of women. We cannot fight extreme views if we become extreme ourselves

This is actually really cool, and a lot more positive than I thought it would be. I really enjoyed this.

You really can't compare them. Men and women face very different issues, but we can't disregard one or the other. The point of this sub isn't to say men have it worse, it's to bring attention to men's issues that usually aren't covered.

Tbh we don't know anything about her at all. She didn't say she was great or anything. She didn't say she wants money either. Shes 32 so she could have been in a serious relationship before this. I honestly just feel bad for her.

I mean most people don't know about it and think it's routine. I used to be the same way and so was my girlfriend. I'm not going to be upset at anyone that thinks it's ok if they've never had any if the information. Even if they did know, all you can do is explain your point in a respectable way and move on. That's the right way to change things, by letting people alter their own opinions, not forcing it.

It's good to see some nice stuff on this sub from time to time :)

They were running high. I agree with that. The sub in general is fairly high stress. At least that was what I saw Men on this sub definitely fear what women might do but we don't silence them by removing them as far as I know. Fear should not stop discussion, but it's not my sub so not my rules. That was a rule, yes, but since they included the word "discussion" in the rule, I always assumed they were open to discussion. I was wrong. I only stated my opinion. I didn't even justify the actions of…

It wasn't a direct feminist sub so that's why I was hoping it wasn't that. But I know it is

It just makes me sad that subs like ours don't silence people, and we listen to every opinion and make a decision. We don't ban people with opposing opinions as far as I know, yet every single sub comprised of more women does. I like to try to be open and asses each situation individually, but it gets harder as more bricks hit me in the face :/

Thank you. This helps a lot :) I was just hoping it wasn't that but that's just wishful thinking I guess. The funniest thing is that your second paragraph is what I posted in my post that got deleted :/

I completely agree, I just never thought it would happen. I've never had problems in the past. I didn't even know about this rule and how they meant it. From the wording it would seem they were open to discussion. Thanks for your input, every response helps :)

That's what I was unsure of. I didn't want people to reply to my opinion, just discuss what they felt. I've stated my opinion in another comment to add to the discussion now that people are talking.

I definitely agree, and if someone asked nicely, I'd gladly call them by whatever they'd want. It would be better for getting along with people. I don't think it should be forced though, that's the distinction I was trying to make. I guess I never disagreed with what you said in hindsight, just wanted to add to it.

I'm not going to be upset about opposing opinions :) This is something I never really thought about. I believe that people should have a way of expressing how they feel, but I can definitely see the issue in redefining a word that's been in use. Other people ruin it by taking it to the extreme (-kin) or by advocating to force people to refer to those descriptions

I agree with what you say, but I disagree with the latter part of the argument. If someone is offended by calling them the wrong pronoun, they can nicely ask you to call them something different, but you aren't required to do so. Courtesy is always an option.

I wanted to know opinions without stating that I probably disagree with sex and gender being the same. Also as a note, I haven't downvoted anyone for disagreeing since I want all opinions to be out there. I'll be downvoted to hell for this, but I tend to agree with biological sex being different than gender. Personally I feel that biologically, there are two sexes, but people within each sex can be more masculine or feminine, and act in ways that don't really conform to the assumed behaviors of …

I'm going to upvote all the sexiest posts! But seriously, I was very happy to see that as well, we don't get much happiness in this topic so it's nice to find it where we can :)

I agree with this. It might not be that a lot of people don't care, but that people have no idea what the point is. I just thought it was for the fuck of it until today.

I wholeheartedly disagree with everything he says in that part of the video, BUT he is only stating his opinion. He's still a good person who makes honest content.

I've had professors who would give lower marks to everyone who didn't agree with the extremely biased lecture. My first few papers disagreed with his point, but when I started agreeing, I went from C's to A's. People tried complaining but nothing ever changed. Every student just told the other students to just agree to get an A in the class. I've heard of other examples of this as well, and it never goes in the students favor unfortunately.

She says she "wishes" people would treat her based on whatever education and family she has. She never once said she deserves it. She even says that it will never happen and warns other girls not to do the same. I do think it fits within the rules of the sub because she didn't think ahead enough and is paying for it now, but I don't think she should be getting the backlash she is. She clearly knows what's happening now and regrets it, and she knows she has to deal with the consequences

No, I was clarifying so that my point would come across clearer. When I said 'rights' in my post, I meant legal rights. He said that he disagreed because there were rights that should be removed but he listed privileges. He meant to say that we need to remove privileges. I was agreeing with him...

I completely agree, I'm not saying that what I said applies to every situation. I should have said that in the end, we want both genders to have the same rights. This means balancing, giving and taking

Good point. I was talking very generally, but there are cases like the one you mentioned where we have to take away things that give too much power

That sentence says that we (men) are trying to keep our benefits (by this I meant rights, sorry for the confusion) while also securing female rights. So another way of saying that we want gender equality. I edited my post to try to make it more clear
/r/MensRights23/02/16 06:28 PM

It makes sense. I've met a few feminists who openly admitted that they just wanted all men to be wiped off the face of the earth.
/r/MensRights23/02/16 06:24 PM

Those are not rights, those are female privileges. So as long as we secure both gender's rights, these privileges will eventually fade.

I really hope this is sarcastic because you're in this subreddit

These aren't women's rights, these are privileges. We need to keep women's right intact as well as men's rights. This way those privileges will go away naturally

I completely agree. I couldn't have said it better myself. It makes me sad though. The whole feminist movement has turned away from right for women and is slowly turning into denying rights for men. It also explains why a lot of true feminists don't associate with modern feminism anymore.

I completely agree

Female privilege is automatically removed when there is true equality. I feel like it's better to say it another way because the phrasing comes off the wrong way
