It’s a beautiful tropical island however it’s the worst Japanese prefecture to live in, in regards to financial standing & education, most of mainland Japanese look down on Okinawa a as pig farmers and to be frank the Okinawans don’t like main landers too much either.

Hit and miss depending on what you want. I’d walk to the mall and sit in Tully’s for hours smoking and drinking coffee. They also have a great yakitori place and a decent metal bar as well as a bar called last stop I think it was. Also hous ten bouch was a five minute train ride away. Not a great place but like oki there was something around every corner. You just got to look for it

Yes and no. A lot of people have to preconceptions about japan. Either everything is like Tokyo or a bunch of temples and studio ghibli films. The reality is while I absolutely love Japan and have spent 5 years there in oki it’s all like the states, you got Okinawa the Hawaii/Alabama of japan, Tokyo/New York, and a few other major cities but it can be dull in most cities like saga, sasebo, kitakyushu, and others. It’s Iwakuni Japan, which hosts a pretty significant Marine Air Station. Most people rotate in and out every two years or on 6 month orders. The concept for the dating scene for many of the locals is that they are a side piece for the Americans or hoping to get married and go to the states.
