5	Reddit Banning all opposing viewpoints - Prepare to Meet at TRP.RED Yeah promoting the keeping of confederate statues isn’t promoting racism. The statue was symbolic of American history. I see it as a stark reminder of where we came from and how far we've come. You know the slaves were freed, right? That statue doesn't undo the present, yet served as a somber reminder of what used to exist. It doesn't change the fact that history happened. OP wasn't endorsing or encouraging racism, he was asking people to attend and protest the sale and removal of a General Lee statue at Lee Park.
