Good thoughts all around...I guess the idea of a relationship is where it gets complex -- a girl is going to view any relationship different than the other guy (or girl)...rarely, form my experience, are "relationships" truly on the same page. Though that isn't to say both parties can't have their fun, regardless of the level of "hurt" or "disappointment" involved. This topic made me realize how much I "overuse" "quotations."

That's fair, and you are correct in saying immediate sex shouldn't preclude one from a relationship. I think we must have a different definition of "dating". I didn't even fully understand the distinction between "dating" and a "relationship" until a couple years ago. Problem is, it's kind of hard to just "get up and leave" when you don't get back to their place until well after midnight, public transportation is closed, and/or you're probably too drunk to go home." As for when they stay at your place...well I'd suggest saying the same thing when you depart, like "I've got to meet up with a friend/colleague to work on _____."

Pretty good points here. The whole "I just hooked up with a girl. How should I exit?" should be a new thread. I like your suggestion. Simple and does the trick. Just offer you her number on your way out (avoid the awkward "cordial" departure convo). Of course another thing: what's a good time-frame window to depart -- really early in the morning?
