Hi! I am an X-Ray & MRI tech at a larger hospital. I enjoy my work! I am 26 F, single, but many of my coworkers are married with kids and are able to have a good work-life balance.

Is there anything you wish she did/did not do post-breakup? I feel like I have disrespected myself by allowing myself to be treated like this. And the heartbreak sucks. But my feelings aside, I don’t want to leave someone in the dust struggling with depression. I wish he would see a therapist or something , I think that would greatly benefit him.

Well we haven’t spoken for almost two weeks so there are no plans to chat or grab my stuff. I was just thinking this weekend would be good to get it over with, but I haven’t contacted him. I think he is either A) still thinking about what he wants, or B) avoiding breaking it off himself. I guess I’m just nervous and feel bad telling him it over. I’ve never broken up with anyone before (this is my first relationship). 😬

Aw, thank you for your kind words. It’s been almost two weeks now and I still haven’t heard back from him. I finally have a day off work tomorrow and will have to cut my ties and get my stuff back that’s at his place. Not excited about it and still unsure how I want to initiate that. 😞

I did not know that about the 6 months thing! I definitely knew that I saw a future before 6 months. I will seriously keep that mind. Thank you for sharing.

If I magically woke up pregnant tomorrow, I can see him as being a reliable father. I can see him taking responsibility for a child, such as being an active part of the kid’s life and supporting them financially. He is however not acting as a reliable boyfriend, and therefore would probably not make for a reliable husband.

Funny but sadly accurate! Definitely holds the notion true that males mature slower than females.

Thank you for your kind words and advice. You sound like a very sweet person! Despite knowing the risks of moving in with someone before engagement/marriage, I somehow thought trust and love would be enough. If I follow my heart, I need to keep it on a leash next time 😂.

Thank you, your advice is insightful and very helpful. I am sorry you were disrespected in your previous relationship. It’s hard to understand why people can be so cold. For some reason, I would feel guilty texting him I was done. I am sure that sounds silly and dumb. Especially since texting is way easier. I would prefer to tell him in person or over the phone at the very least, even if I choke on my words. And I would still need to gather my things from his place. Another thing I am thinking a…

Thank you for sharing your story. I just keep getting my hopes up only to be let down. How did you leave the relationship? He still has not contacted me in over a week (after saying he would when he is ready to talk again). I have a feeling I will be the one who will need to initiate the conversation again, because it would be easier for him to ignore me forever than close our relationship with decent communication. I do also have some of my belongings at his place that have been left there over…

He should have his head out of his ass by now. This part made me giggle. Thank you for that. :) But truly, everything you wrote is wonderfully well said. I am, and always will be, an optimistic and empathetic person at heart. I give people the benefit of the doubt. Your words (and everyone else’s words here) helped me realize that I have extended the benefit of the doubt too much.

I absolutely agree with everything you stated. So, I guess it comes down to the fact that I just need to navigate the best path to produce an income for myself to cover my bills, save money, and have some spending money.

Thank you! I do need to have a talk with my SO going over where he sees our future regarding marriage and kids. I know he has told me he doesn't want a legal marriage but would do the rings and vows. And I know he doesn't want kids at this very moment. But, down the road (probably in my late 20s), yes. We hold similar values and trust each other. Talking to him is easy and we rarely have argued. However, the "big talk" about where he sees our future with marriage and kids is something I am scare…

I know men don't care about a degree. However, I've read on this subreddit and have been told that men do care if you are educated and want smart women by their side. Obviously, college does not correlate with being smart. I know of a lot of dumb people who were in college. But, passing my classes with flying colors and being a book worm to become a more educated woman is what I've been told men like. Whether that educated is perused through college, books, an online course, a local seminar, ect…

Thank you for the advice. I am looking at the dental assisting program right now. I only need the math class as a prerequisite though. I wish I had that under my belt, otherwise, I would apply now! I have this entire year to take prerequisites. Currently, I am enrolled in biology and sociology. After I take the placement test again, I will be enrolled in whichever math class I fall into (my goal is college algebra, or at the very least intermediate algebra.) Do you have any other career suggesti…

Thanks, will do. My SO has a biochem degree and doctorates in pharmacy. So, he is very very good at math and science. I just don't want to overwhelm him with my struggles too much which is why I was going to get a tutor this week once I settle in my move. Thanks again. :) I'll report back on this post in a few weeks with my test results.

If I don't finish by the time I'm 25 I'm afraid my life goals of being financially stable, saving money, and hopefully having kids will be pushed back. And, thank you for the book recommendation. I love reading (rarely watch tv) so I will be ordering off Amazon immediately. :)

It is something I really want and have spent a lot of time researching. I am very capable of classes like biology, anatomy, and physiology. I loved my anatomy and medical terminology class I've taken thus far. Chemistry and math are my weak points. At 22, (almost 23), I really want to have a college education under my belt. Especially, dating someone with a doctorate degree in the medical field would only enhance our relationship if I was more educated in my opinion. I am going to start working …

I've been doing Khan academy religiously this week. I need to get up to a college algebra level. I would say I am at the Algebra basics level. Considering I need to pass this test in two weeks which will make or break my school year, I feel pretty behind.

Thank you for the input! In my city, the cheapest option is a BA degree in radiology oddly enough. The associate degrees are only offered at private schools averaging $20,000 a year. Otherwise, I would choose an associates degree. :) Plus, I don't mind taking more prerequisites as I will be applying to other programs too so I don't put all my eggs in one basket. I would love to private message you if that is alright to learn more about your experience as a radiologic technologist. :)

Thank you! My health is good. I am 5'1 with a BMI of 19. I am on my feet all day and lifting at work. Outside of that, I just walk and stretch a lot. I am going to start weight lifting 1-2 times a week when I move to my boyfriend's city. We both enjoy going to the gym together. We also ride our bikes together. I eat moderately healthy, but I do have a weak spot for baking cakes and will have a slice every week. :)

Thanks! I don't go out at all and I've never been to a party. So, there won't be any money going towards those shenanigans! The only time I go out is on dinner dates with my boyfriend. All of my money goes to my bills and extra things like taking care of myself (haircuts, buying new clothes, food, ect.) I like to dress and look nice, so I have dished out money on staple wardrobe pieces that I will have for life, but mostly buy second hand and buy my makeup at Walmart. I wont have an issue paying…

Oh, thank you! That is very kind of you to say and means a lot. I still feel like I could've done better (I am a huge perfectionist), being folks my age are just now graduating college and I am just now starting. However, 90% of the people I work with a have a bachelors degree. Thank you so much for your honest feedback. And, I am so sorry to hear you developed carpal tunnel syndrome. That sounds painful. :( Do you know much about the radiology tech program or people who have gone into that? That is my first pick. As you mentioned, there is no job mobility. With X-ray, once you become a tech you can go into one-year programs to become a therapist, work in nuclear medicine, CT scans, ultrasound, MRI, ect. I have even met an X-ray tech who became a teacher at a community…

Yes, thank you! I have a few cute pomodoro timers. LOVE them and wouldn't get much done without them! :) Since I have about 20 hours worth of studying a week, I enjoy 50 minute intervals with a 10 minute break. For less mentally stimulating tasks like cleaning or doing my hair in the morning I do 25/5 intervals.

Yes, associates degrees are awesome if you're in a time crunch or just want to take baby steps to a bachelors degree you would get later in life. I would love to here more about your experience in radiology and how you balanced school and studies. I'm completely aware on how the medical field has changed, it flat out sucks. What did you change your major to?

You worded it perfectly: "allow you to spend more time with your future family along with your higher hourly salary and more intellectual stimulation." Congrats on being in pharmacy school. Thanks! In my current job I am making over $15 an hour (I've been there for 3 years). And just working part-time with that I still struggle. However, the receptionist at a medical office would be a better fit for me and experience in the field. I just already have kept this job for song long it would be difficult for me switch. I am really excited to read those books, thank you so much. I have seen quite a lot of full-time rad jobs in my town. I didn't know the clinical part took that long. I guess I wont be working much then, or at all! Well darn, would you completely advise against it or recommends another job in the health-care field that only requires an associates degree?

Changing my budget is definitely an option. Though, I am already pretty frugal. Unfortunately, I cannot live at home because my parents are divorced and just live in their own apartments (no room for me). I don't really have many friends or anybody who would be my roommate. No need to apologize, you absolutely did not put me down in the slightest. You have wonderful insight and I appreciate it. Thank you. I 100% agree with you. Even though I have a lovely partner, we aren't married and even though he said he would have no issue with me working my way up in retail, I would feel unhappy especially since I probably won't have kids until my mid-late 20s. To add, my problem really isn't whether or not I should attend college. I am fairly certain in my degree. Sure, I hate some of it. I hate math and I hate how much time and effort it takes. I've had since I was 18 to think about what I wanted to go into for school (I'm almost 23). My problem is balancing the intense course-work with working and being a good girlfriend and seeing my family without going crazy. I have worked my way up in a retail company and I currently make more than minimum wage. I am proud of this accomplishment and if I quit school right now and continued working my way up in this company I would make a decent living. Working my way up in a crappy retail job has taught me how to work hard, better social skills, and has allowed me to grow a savings account and a 401k in my early 20s most people my age don't have because they are in debt. I loved living at home when it came to saving money. My parents divorced last year so they just live in apartments and I live in my separate apartment. I've fell in love with the freedom and independence from everything to decorating and having a quiet space all to myself. "The first consideration is why radiation therapy? Does it interest you, and bring you some kind of fulfillment? Or is it just a means to an end to get a paycheck? I had been working full-time prior to starting school and made good financial decisions. I moved out of my parent's house, started a 401K, and saved over 20k. (I was able to save that much from living under my parents) I don't enjoy my job though (retail) and want a more fulfilling job that offers better pay. I am highly sympathetic and empathetic and my flaw is letting emotions override logic. I still haven't moved on as we have planned a lot of vacations together for this spring. But, I plan on communicating with him. If you want to check out my new post https://www.reddit.com/r/RedPillWomen/comments/avlwzf/boyfriend_doesnt_love_me_after_9_months/ , it's kind of an update on the situation. Cool, thanks! He already says he cares about me and wants to be with me but does love me and isn’t feeling it yet because love is a very heavy word for him. As a general rule of thumb I will look for more non verbal signs. However, I do need to have a more vulnerable talk with him soon considering he asked me to move in with him. Which, involves moving cities/school/job/ect. Nothing is a guarantee, correct, I still need to communicate and make smart choices so I have a greater chance of a greate…

Hey, thanks for the perspective. What tips would you give me then for continuing a conversation with him about this so we can actually move foreward WITHOUT scaring him, lol. I find it hard to believe he can’t even admit to falling in love with me after 9 months and asking me to move cities to live with him. I have to change a lot of my life around. Thank you all for the advice. Although, it is all very overwhelming. He is coming here tomorrow afternoon. I feel heartbroken but I need to hear him out and hear the truth. Here are the few things I plan to ask him, do we think this is a good dialogue?: I appreciate your honesty. You've been the best boyfriend I've ever had. I have a great time with you. Blurting out "I don't love you" was harsh. What are we and what do you see for us within the next 6 months - year?

Okay, so we are not living together (yet). But, we are sleeping together. I have helped him clean and I have cooked for him before. I feel like I've given away the entire chocolate cake. Your story takes a brick off my chest. My man is also very analytical, logical, and less sensitive. He too was a med student. :) I am more logical for a girl, but I also have a bleeding heart and am able to feel strong empathy and emotions. I truly did not mean for this text to come off that way. I do love this man and I can't imagine a life without him. I want him to feel comfortable and happy. I am committed to him. I take cohabiting seriously because to me it is a step towards marriage and a life-long commitment. And to me, marriage equals a promise and love. I would never ever live with somebody just to "save money" or "shack up" for the convenience. I genuinely love this man and want nothing but the best for him.

I have not, no. And that is where I take responsibility for falling short. I am quite a submissive and shy person naturally, so I'm truly unsure on how to bring it up. Marriage to me is, as you mentioned, more than a piece of paper. It is a promise.
