so i was actually just editing my previous reply because if you asked, well fuck, guess i’ll try to answer. instead of being a petty bitch, i’m gonna take this as another excuse to ramble a bit, maybe practice actually putting my thoughts together. so like, y’know, take this as you will. first, big BIG disclaimer: i’m trying not to generalize here to the best of my ability, but in the case that i do say something like “men do...” or whatever, i’m mostly meaning men in power, men of higher classe…

they can, you just wouldn’t take it seriously either way LMAO. like you’re telling me if i actually wasted my time combing through sources and giving them to you, you’d actually a) read it; and b) consider it?

but what you’re saying about society isn’t a fact?? like in all my studies of the social sciences so far, that has never been cited as a specific reason for the formation of society. it’s more of a resource distribution thing, really. i’m trying to do a quick lil search now about it and coming up empty, could you point me in the direction of the source you got your info from? aside from like, the titanic thing because you can’t apply that to all of human history, it’s just disingenuous. i just f…

i’m more asking why you believe that standard was set. why were women and children prioritized for safety? WHO prioritized women and children’s safety over the safety of men? where did that standard come from? also, i disagree with the statement that society was created as a means to protect women and children. society was created as a means to protect EVERYONE and function together to alleviate the responsibility. society is created to protect the vulnerable, not just women and children.

i can definitely try to give a lil insight! but first, a disclaimer: i’m a history major studying to teach it. that means this info is not gospel (nor should any info be considered tbh)! this is my own analysis of why i think this is an issue from what i’ve learned /so far/. i’m gonna try to not be a ramblin’ mess here, but here’s what i think. men have generally been socially pressured/forced to take jobs that are more laborious or even dangerous. from working in fields to operating dangerous m…

i’ve really been good on my “don’t comment” regimen lately, but as a history major i do have to point out one thing: it’s true that generally men throughout time have taken on the more dangerous and risky jobs. but we also have to consider WHY that is, right? why have men been the ones to take on riskier jobs? where did that cultural standard come from? just stating the fact that men generally have done more dangerous jobs without saying why can be misleading. you have no obligation to respond o…
