Why did it take 19 fecking times for this to be detected???

This is a fair point, but almost everything in the natural world is subject to natural distribution (fascinating subject btw, read the wiki article.) So although Ace/Ase people exist so do hypersexual people but the majority of folk are in between, so the principle that the majority of people can be influenced by sexual media whilst being sexually deprived is still logically sound. But it's still a fair point that it needs stats to prove it.

This person has clearly proven you are wrong about this, stop making a fool of yourself. I can't take the second hand embarrassment.

I think the post is relatively positive, yes it's not primarily from a male perspective but at least they mention men in a few areas. I would expect a post in a male advocacy sub to focus on male experience though, unless they are attempting to lecture men about how they should/shouldn't behave. Conversely , everyone needs to be taught to not use soft words when it comes to consent, the whole "next time" part of this post really troubles me. We all need to take "No" as a refusal and say the word…

Because I am a leftist by most measures. It's just blatant that the democrats are too committed on their current trajectory to come back and start saying they care about men, it stinks of falsehood.

I'm gonna call bullshit. The left has never given a fuck about me and never will.

Did you ever hear the quote "All it takes for evil to reign is for good men to do nothing" That's what you are advocating. I know nihilism is seductive, but it is inescapable that this stuff matters, go out and vote! Send a letter to your mp, start that petition. Have that argument, stand up for yourself and all men.

We aren't denying it, it surely exists its just not as prevalent or as extreme as you make it out it to be.

Just because you've been treated poorly doesn't mean it was because of your sex, your bias is showing.

I think I see what you are saying, that the lowest incomes are held by women. I think we would need to see the statistical distribution to really be sure of what is happening it could be the distribution is widen for men, so there are more at either end.or it could be as you say and the average (or middle of the distribution) is higher for men. Isn't this mostly because women are seen as primary care givers by society? If we had equal paternity leave and equal custody then there would be no way …

If you look at the most wealthy individuals the majority are male yes, but if you look at the poorest the majority are male too. You can't just take the top 0.05% of people and say this shows men have an unfair advantage in society, it's not fair and it's not true.

Ask her what it would take for her to believe that the amount of violent/rapist men are in the minority? If she says she would never believe that, then she is too far gone and is a fanatic. If she states "statistics" or personal experience she may still be able to be saved. Just provide the statistics about the %of men in prison in comparison to the overall amount. Show her the good men have done like inventing the tampon and sanitary towel and the contraceptive pill. These things have liberated…

This is hilariously misguided, ask 1000 women what they want in a man and most of them will not agree with each other. When talking about large groups of people it's inaccurate and inarticulate to talk in absolutes like "all women want what's in romance novels".

Nope, I would jump and dump but not date a Feminist, it seems like feminism gets its hooks into self righteous people, and opinionated people, neither of which I find attractive long term.

Can you give an example of this behaviour? I'm having trouble identifying what you mean by male on male tribalism.

This! All my life I've tried not to draw attention to differences between people so we could all pull in the same direction, the recent zeitgeist is to focus solely on our differences and punish those who happen to be the majority demographic.

Although this is a bit emotive/strongly worded I agree with the premise. Another way to put it would be "Be sure you are happy in yourself before you bring someone else into the world"

Well when you have widened your definition of rape to the extent that it includes extremely ambiguous situations. I.e. men need verbal consent for every single action sexually otherwise it is rape Drunk people cannot consent, people on drugs cannot consent. Women can consent and then days later revoke consent, unwanted contact is rape etc etc Then by that standard it occurs all the time, but that standard is bullshit.

how do men tap the... Bargaining power we have Strikes seem an obvious answer, but the more pragmatic question is how do you get all men to agree something is worth striking over and organise it. Is it possible to form an all male union?

I think there are things the feminism movement have done that we can learn from. Back on the day the charities looking for cash to house female victims of domestic abuse, worded it as "charities against domestic violence" I think such genderless mission statement was a tactic to make the general public donate whilst also omiting that none of the money would go to male domestic victims. Male focused charities should learn this lesson and focus their mission statement with genderless words this wi…

I'm 34 and married. Hrmm I see your predicament; Honestly I would say you need to weigh up what's more important to you; being honest and saying what you feel or avoiding conflict to be friends with the people immediately around you. If you search you will find people who aren't so opinionated and bigoted. But I wouldn't blame you if you swallowed your beliefs so that you don't get ostracized, telling the truth is hard and not always the best social strategy. Either way friend, your gonna have a…

TBH I just don't bother with people who say they are feminist now. Either they see how hateful the movement is and ignore it, or they are ignorant of the hate within the movement. Either way it's going to be hours of hard work to show them how unequal feminism is. It's not worth it.

These look like inoffensive statements, but remember how the press is America reacted to posters saying "it's o k to be white". I can only assume these benign statements would have the same reaction were they widely published.

I think polarising people into left wing and right wing is daft. I'm both left and right on different things, and what about the other political axis? Authoritative to libertarian? I'd like to think most people here are not authoritarians?

I'm actually pro-choice and I would like the decision to be 50:50 between parents, but I know this can't be the case while the partner who's pregnant carries the baby. That's why I'm excited about the artificial wombs that are being worked on at the moment. Dont want the baby but your partner does? Quick easy op and the baby can grow up with the parent that wants it. The future will not be pro-choice or pro-life but equal choice.

Fundementally I don't understand their motivation here, what is to be gained for femminism from banning this film? I'm skeptical of if a feminist would protest this film just to keep the focus of people on the female part of domestic violence stats.

Good point, well made. This is how we need to think. We rise above the name calling the childish hate throwing the opposition do during debates. on-lookers will see the opposition for the crazed, illogical people they are, and our cause will gain ground because of it.

We can't hypothesise as to why he holds this view point. (conjecture) We can't ask him why he has this viewpoint. (He won't talk to us) What would you suggest as an alternative?

But didn't our ancestral fathers keep them there? They made them safe, they pampered them. I understand the anger at how men were thrown into war as if they were worthless, but that was done by other men, women didn't pull the strings or the trigger.

Assuming all feminist are extremists is as insulting to them as them assuming we are all extremist anti-women's rights activists is to us. I understand if you are angry but it does our cause harm, please try to be better than they are.

Supposing that Will has been exposed to sexism is conjecture, and does not contribute to the disscussion my friend. "but that doesn't excuse someone from denying the voice of equality for all." I want that 10 foot high on a bill board.

I think that the stigma that surrounds the term "Men's rights activist" is part of the problem. We get generalised along with people who are more accurately anti-women's rights activists. I propose we adopt the term Equal rights activist.

Well said. I am also personally disappointed in Will Wheaton, his show on geek and sundry got me through hard times when I was alone and depressed. To find out that he's falsely represented a group that just want to understand why boys are falling behind academically, why the fact men kill themselves more often isn't of interest or concern. A group that basically says " yes I'm a man, but that doesn't mean my feelings or rights are any less important than any other sex (female or transgender) An…
