Glad I'm a guy moment: It must be exhausting constantly trying to seek attention/approval. Yeah, yeah, I know guys do this too, but that bell curve....

I think your "I just did." retort is best. Cliff notes is girls verbally pulling this for some sort of psychological and conversational superiority. Yes, I agree with you. Mostly this has happened in group conversations I never directly at me. I just want to be able to shut somebody down when they pull that shit. "I just did" works brilliantly.

It was the last example that you gave. I have ignored it. I just see it's creeping up more and more in conversation both online and in real life. There is a psychological shit test element to it, and I want to verbally retaliate because it's psychologically puts them in a superior position within the conversation.

Right. So, the latest incidence of this happened an hour ago as a group of us on Facebook messenger were organizing going together for an event. I was just observing the conversation. Tim: "Amy, order the tickets online instead of calling in, you will get $10 off." Amy: "Don't tell me what to do! " Now, this is among a group of friends so it's obviously a joke. But, there is often truth in jest. And I am hearing this phrase more and more from women. It obviously has some form of psychological a…

I'm having trouble understanding where the line is drawn. Are you supposed to detach emotionally? Where? Do you ever laugh? Which emotions do you strive to keep and which ones do you jettison?

Oh shit...that is me. Usually I can recover if I push through past the one non-funny joke though. So my advice if you do fuck it up is to keep pushing. They forget the one bad one. But still, I agree: Leave on a high note.

A little...getting her flowers??? I disregard that stuff though. I think he is talking about relationships. Still, I found some VERY valuable info in that post overall.

But here's the problem: I don't even want to be banned from the curling club that I don't care much about. It WOULD bother me. I need to find a way to get away from external validation. I know it is a process for many of us.

Thanks. If I would have just known this 2 months ago. I had never thought of her pulling away from an attempted kiss as a shit test. In retrospect, it most probably was.

Yes and no. Experimentation. I think it may have escalated too slow.

Treat a woman like your little sister. Tease her. Roll your eyes at her antics. Feign total disinterest in her I have found that this approach winds up with her treating you as a brother/friend. I get friend-zoned in an instant when this happens.

The problem with this is that it is too close to the friend-zone. How do you keep those interactions from slipping into being just a cool friend? escalation?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
