Athletes have weight classes usually that is the reason you see different muscle masses. More muscle mass means more motor units and more force production. That makes you faster, stronger, and with more stamina (ignore marathon runners). It is easier to tackle a light/weak opponent; it is less tiring to move a small percentage of your max many times. Squat, Deadlift, Press, Bench Press, Rows. This is your base. Fixed amount of sets/reps, increase weight progressively, fix your diet, sleep. Get strong, the rest will come. Master the technique by studying Starting Strength. Watch youtube videos by Alan Thrall Pick a novice program: Starting Strength, 5x5, etc. Stick to it like religion.
