I’m 23 and also a girl who can’t seem to find any like minded individuals in Portland! So you’re not alone and I feel your pain. In a city this liberal I’m often keeping a lot of my opinions to myself. The only place I’ve found women who are into RPW topics is church, but I haven’t gone in years.

There’s a lot more background to this, but long story short, my boyfriend said the other day while we were having a movie night, “I don’t like how this movie makes it seem like women are only strong if they’re confrontational or aggressively feminist. You’re not like that and you’re strong in so many other ways.” As someone who used to be confrontational and “aggressively feminist” 4-5 years ago, it was the sweetest compliment! Being more calm and reserved has not only made me feel more like my …

Not super healthy, but my go-to quick dinner is bacon fried rice, especially if there's leftover rice in the fridge. I got the idea off of pinterest last year, but it really only takes like 10-15 minutes. Bacon, scrambled egg, frozen peas and carrots, rice, and whatever sauce you want. I personally use coconut aminos, sesame oil, sriracha, and a touch of honey. You can also use chicken or whatever leftover meat you have.

I told my boyfriend I loved him in a note (I refused to say it “out loud” first. I thought he could do that in his own time) and he didn’t say it back until two weeks later. But I’d say don’t worry about it too much. Just know that you put it out there, and my advice is to not say it again until he’s ready!

My boyfriend only gets 30 minute lunches at his work and sometimes I’ll bring over my pasta leftovers for him! Chicken alfredo, spaghetti, etc. it’s all easy to microwave, quick to eat, and still warm and filling.

There's been a million sweet things he's done for me over the last year, but there's still been one that sticks out the most to me. We were on our third date, when he asked if he could plan the next one, and it was going to be a complete surprise. He only told me that he would pick me up at noon on Saturday. Saturday rolls around and I show up, and he drove us over an hour to the coast and he even took the time to find a local restaurant that had gluten free food (I'm gluten intolerant and it ca…

I was in a 4 year relationship last year and we broke up for a number of reasons, but a big one was the fact that he wasn't sure he EVER wanted marriage. Not just with me, but with anybody. And he had all the benefits of living with me and living a "married" life without the marriage. And I was 22 at the time, but after a year and a half of talking about the future and what we wanted, it was clear we just did not want the same things. Especially on a timeline that I was comfortable with. If he D…

Highly recommend dating up a couple years. I felt the same way as you, but I met my boyfriend on tinder when I was still in college at 22, and he was 24, working a full time finance job. He was so much more mature compared to my previous boyfriend who was my own age and still in the f-boy hookup stage of his life. Definitely look for someone out of college, or at least out of undergrad.

Tinder! I was pretty fresh out of a 4 year relationship, only using the app to get my feet on the ground when it came to conversation with men. He had JUST moved to my city maybe a week before we matched, so neither of us intended on finding actual relationships on the app. At least not quickly. I vividly remember almost not swiping on him because his bio was a bunch of weird quotes. Crazy to think I remember hesitating on his profile! We never would’ve met then. Anyway, conversation came easy, …

keeping hair healthy and shiny! limit heat if you can, keep your hair hydrated, avoid excessive dyeing/bleaching, get regular trims for your hair type, etc.

Well it can be hard to change your entire personality, but I think a good mindset can be to change your attitude from the negative “I need to be quiet and not talk so much” to the more positive “I need to listen more intently and be gentle with my delivery” and really all you can do is be more mindful. Which, yes, only goes so far but soon it’ll be a habit. I learned to change my thoughts from negative to positive and it’s hard but one day you will wake up and it’ll be second nature. Good luck!!

Congratulations!! I’m actually in Portland and I have yet to find anyone who is like-minded, but I’m hoping you find your people soon!

Along with the other comments, I just minimize my routine. I focus on sleep and skincare and that allows me to go most days with only mascara and a bit of eyebrow pencil to fill in the sparse areas of my eyebrows. I try to remember that I’ll feel more refreshed and awake when I put the effort into my appearance and outfits. And also don’t push yourself to wear makeup every day if it’s not for you!

My boyfriend and I don’t live together so I like to leave him cute notes in his car or wallet to find later. He says they always put a big smile on his face when he comes across them at work. Along with cooking him dinners, I also like massaging his shoulders after a stressful week! Anything to make his life easier. Even if that means he needs a guys night with friends or a night alone to watch Netflix.

I think the important question is: if he didn't change this behavior, could you marry them and be with them? What do you want in a partner long term? If them not being able to communicate healthily is a deal breaker, then there's your answer. I'd also add that it's better to do it now than wait another year or more and have him still acting this way. Yes, from his POV, it can be very difficult to change an issue/behavior like that, and you shouldn't expect him to be able to change out of the blu…

While I don't know your relationship, I feel like I've gotten better at this throughout my long term relationship (4 years). I've just honestly learned to stop myself in the moment and think: Does this REALLY matter? Will getting annoyed at a small thing like, for example, a chore not being done really matter to me in 24 hours, a week, etc. If it's not worth it, then I learn to breathe and let it go. Don't let yourself spiral. Be less in your head and more in the moment. And if you have a genuin…

I have short hair and definitely hair clips and headbands and makeup are good for helping me feel feminine. I like to braid the front pieces and bobby pin them back. Half up hairstyles can be pretty too. Just check out YouTube for some tutorials!
