If a woman is murdered, more likely than not she was murdered by a male partner or ex-partner of hers. If her personal safety is the primary concern, shouldn't she be trying to minimize the size disparity between her and her most likely assailant? To the extent that it makes sense to psychoanalyze women's fixation on height, it's about their desire to be physically dominated by sexual partners.

The idea that Chinese women are all hankering to get with some mediocre white guy is just projected fantasy. Maybe if we're talking about some peasant girl from Guizhou. But the types of women in China you'd actually want to date have higher standards than women in the USA.

I'd guesstimate around half of women rarely or never get a cold approach on the street or at a bar. That's very different from them not being noticed, though. It's only like 10% of women who never get asked out in person. The difference is accounted for by situations where men have actually met them in a social or professional situation. Online dating? To a first approximation, 0% of women get no initial interest online, even scoping it to genuine, non-offensive (if bland or unappealing) reactio…

All other things being equal, intelligence is usually good. Social intelligence is most important, but even being book smart can give you an edge. To the extent that "smart men" have a disadvantage, it's because of how comparative advantage plays out in childhood. Abstract reasoning and social skills both improve via dedication and practice. If someone has a high base level of abstract reasoning, more likely than not their base level of social skill will be lower. And so parents and teachers pus…

Imagine you're a guy, swiping right on the top 10% of women on Tinder. For every match you get, you make it clear you're looking primarily for sex. Will you have more successes if you are above average, or incredibly hot? The question kind of answers itself, to the point where I'm confused that people think there's even a question here. Maybe the disparity would become less if you make it clear you're looking for a relationship, but even then the hot guy will still have an edge.

Parents owe it to their children to help them build healthy physical habits. They owe it to their children to teach how to put together an outfit and do everyday tasks. They owe it to their children to impart on them solid social skills, both through example (being socially adroit themselves) and through opportunities (setting up play dates and social occasions when the kid is young). In terms of sex and romantic relationships, by the time they're teenagers/looking to date, sons should have the …

Generally, if you think someone's boring, that's on you. It's not universally true--absolute bores do exist--but most people are an average level of interesting, and that means their interesting aspects can be drawn out if you have solid social skills. An interesting person can usually find a way to connect with, learn from, and enjoy someone else. I met Bill Clinton a decade ago, and we had a very interesting conversation about the obscure, boring-as-shit research I was doing in school at the t…

2.2, and falling. Things look better there than China, but still not great. It also has one of the highest male-to-female ratios in the world.

The manosphere does very little meaningful "data collection" (which admittedly is hard, unless you run a dating website), and pretty much no meaningful statistical analysis.

Women are happier and live longer when they're single; men are happier and live longer when they're married. Outliers aside, men seem worse off when they're single. A lot of this has to do with loneliness, and the fact that men often put less effort into fostering close emotional connections and making new friends than women do.

Say you have 10 men, each more attractive than the other. Scale it such that the least attractive man is a 1, and the most attractive man is a 10. If you take all the men with attractiveness less than 5.5 (the average) and put them through the four steps I mentioned, four of them would end up with attractiveness higher than 5.5. I'd even go so far as to say those four men's new average would be a 7 or an 8. Even the guy who started out as a 1 would probably end up a 5 and have some luck dating. …

Eh, 5'3" here, and although I'm sure I have to work harder to maintain a steady supply of new, attractive partners (say, 2 or more a month) than if I were 6', it's far from impossible. US-based.

A guy can wear a strap-on. If you get off on her reactions, it can be fun to fuck a woman with a dick that's actually 9 inches (if that's her thing). Most men are uncomfortable with this idea, natch, but fun nonetheless.

It's a silly idea. A "high value man" certainly cares about looks, but he's also going to care about education, career, social facility, cultural class, interests and hobbies, sexual compatibility and openness... Given a choice between who's average in looks and amazing in all of those, and amazing in looks but average in all of those, most would go for the former, for the purposes of a serious relationship.

Bisexual white guy. To men: 8/10, as I'm pretty fit and have a decent enough face, solid skincare routine and good hygiene. To women: 2/10, because short. Purpleness comes from that dichotomy. I'm not sure "blue pill" even exists as a meaningful category. I do appreciate that TRP recognizes there can be unpleasant realities of the sexual marketplace, while many online people get very angry at the idea that a guy might have dating issues for any reason beyond him being a terrible human being. TRP…

Do gay men tend to have stronger or weaker disgust reactions than straight men?

I've found about equal luck between girls a couple inches shorter than me (5'3") and a couple inches taller than me. My guess is that for the former I meet appropriate enough gender norms, and for the latter they have much more experience with guys not being taller than then. 5'4 is the deadly zone, because they rarely experience being near shorter men and we can't play out our prescribed gender roles.

Is it useful to differentiate between a need and a want? A house or apartment, for instance, isn't strictly a need: you won't die without it every time you don't have it, and most public provision of housing goes much further than providing a bare bones dorm that only offers protection from the elements. Most non-acute medical care isn't a need, and healthcare reform in the US is often about providing freedom from bankruptcy and more effective healthcare delivery than it is about guaranteeing a …

https://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-how-body-brokers-took-over-county-morgue-20190408-story.html You need a chain of custody, so you probably couldn't start buying and rendering Libyan slave collagen to sell to US plastic surgeons. Probably best to move to some authoritarian country and ask if you can have first dibs on executed prisoners, and then set up a clinic there for medical tourism. The PRC has pioneered that approach.

Fun fact: they convince you to sign up for organ donation with tales of saving someone with your kidney, etc. Much of the time, though, donations are used to fuel a booming biotech market. A teaspoon of your corpse's ground up skin can sell for a grand, for technologies like Renuva. What's that? "An allograft adipose matrix engineered to treat small-volume aesthetic irregularites." In other words, your corpse is being used as an injection to fill lips, correct cellulite, even enlarge penises. No…

Oh, sure, agreed it's trivial for a guy with a 20% like-rate to get lots of matches. Probably higher than 20%, since Tinder front loads your queue with people who have already liked you. But there's a ton of sloppy thinking around the structure of dating networks, and it's meaningful information to accurately characterize the experience of men and women in the top percentiles, since they disproportionately affect the structure of the network. A network where people in the 99th percentile get a l…

I'd pay good money to have full access to Tinder's data set. People talk about match rates a lot, but I'd love to know what proportion of conversations start, i.e. have both people send at least one message after the initial match, and what proportion progress to a meet. A reasonable proxy for the latter would be the female half of the conversation offering her phone number. I don't think any man, even at the very top of the Tinder hierarchy, gets to even a 50% like-rate ("shooting fish in the b…

I don't know if you want advice, but... shave, dude. You've got a good facial definition such that facial hair doesn't add much, and the beard needs to come in more fully if you want to wear it. Also, figure out a good hair situation. I prefer you with longer hair.
